Ashitaba was seen in episode 434 of Naruto Shippuden, which was titled Team Jiraiya. He appeared in Tsunade’s Infinite Tsukuyomi dream in Jiraiya’s novel. In Tsunade’s dream, despite Team Jiraiya's (consisting of Nagato Uzumaki, Yahiko and Konan) earlier advice to stay away from the village, Ashitaba went with his younger brother Komichi to their village to fetch his teddy bear. They attempted to flee after discovering the bear, but Team Asuma (Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka and Choji Akimichi) intercepted them. After seeing Team Asuma's Konoha headband, Nagato was reminded of the murder of his parents by Hidden Leaf shinobi. Nagato lost control of his power which caused the house to crumble while Ashitaba and Komichi cowered in horror. As a result, the ground swallowed Ashitaba and his brother.
Ashitaba and his brother were besieged by enormous worm-like creatures underground until they were rescued by the joint efforts of Team Jiraiya and Team Asuma. They then accompanied Ashitaba and his younger brother and safely returned them to their mother. Later, Deidara used his explosive clay technique to destroy the village with a single huge blast. Ashitaba and the other villagers were all killed in a massive explosion that completely devastated the village.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Ashitaba’s personality. From his limited appearance, it can be deduced that Ashitaba was a kindred soul. He cared deeply about his brother and was protective of him. He even risked his life to fetch the teddy bear his younger brother loved so much.
Ashitaba was a young boy with short black hair and big black eyes. He was seen dressed in grey pants, a simple blue shirt with an orange belt, and dark green sandals.
Ashitaba is a young child and did not undergo any shinobi training according to the available information about him. Thus, he does not possess any countable combat skills whatsoever.
