Baki is a jōnin of Sunagakure and a member of its advisory council. He is renowned as one of the most loyal, kind and respected shinobi in Sunagakure.
He held his priorities well and managed to convince Chiyo and Ebizō to deal with Sasori, as opposed to having another meeting with council after Kazekage’s abduction.

Baki was present at the preliminary rounds of the third part of the Chūnin Exams. He didn’t communicate much except for advising his students and was also worried about Gaara losing to Rock Lee. After some time, Baki encountered Kabuto Yakushi, with whom he spoke about the impending invasion of Konoha by Suna and Oto.
As a token of confidence between the Suna and Oto, Baki murdered Hayate Gekkō when they (Kabuto and Baki) found him evesdropping in the shadows. Before Gekkō’s passing, Baki praised his talent. Later, he handed over the scroll to the Fourth Kazekage that he had obtained from Kabuto, which contained Otogakure’s invasion strategy for Konoha. Shortly after, he revealed Suna’s strategy to the Three Sand Siblings, adding that Gaara’s skills will play a major role in it.
He was next shown during the final rounds, which prompted the Sand and Sound shinobi invasion of Konoha. He urged his team to take Gaara to safety after he lost his control following his earlier transformation. However, before Baki could follow them, he was challenged by Genma Shiranui.
Later, he was seen discovering the corpses of the Fourth Kazekage and his bodyguards before realizing that Orochimaru had duped them all.
Baki was among the council members of Sunagakure. During the fight between Gaara and Deidara, Baki ordered the evacuation of the village and ordered the remaining shinobi to prepare offensive measures to help their new Kazekage.
When Kankūro revealed about Sasori, Baki immediately approached Chiyo and Ebizō, who are Sasori’s grandparents, to fight against Sasori and to develop an antidote against his poison, which he had ingested into Kankūro’s body.
Later, he was shown in a meeting with other council members, some of whom were determined to choose Gaara’s successor, rather than trying to rescue him. Baki stopped Kankūro after the latter tried to attack the one who suggested it.
Baki was last seen alongside other Sunagakure villagers, sending off Gaara, Kankūro and Temari to the Five Kage Summit.
Baki is ruthless and stern in battle, as he was trained to accomplish missions before comradeship. He is well managed with his priorities as he approached Chiyo and Ebizō for help to deal against Sasori.
He had complete faith in the skills of every member of his team during the Chūnin Exams, however he made a remark about Kankurō’s lack of seriousness in battles. He regularly fretted over Gaara’s mental health as well as his grip over Shukaku. Even though Baki was Gaara’s former teacher, he treated Gaara with utmost respect after he became the Kazekage and often bowed to him.
Baki is a tall man with two distinctive red markings on either side of his face. His head is hidden by turban-like headgear and by a sheet that is hanging from it on the left side of his face. He dons the standard Suna-nin attire, which includes a flak jacket and forehead protector.
Baki is a powerful jōnin of Sunagakure and is strong enough that he has no difficulty in engaging with some of Konoha’s high-ranking shinobi. He was often shown to take charge of military operations and is also very knowledgeable about other village’s techniques.
Baki demonstrates his strength and resilience in battle by being unmoved by a sword strike to the shoulder after the blade sliced through a portion of his flak jacket and by preventing Hayate from drawing his sword with just one hand. Additionally, the fact that he struck Hayate with taijutsu as his first blow, showcases his skills in the technique. He could also spit out powder to distract his opponent.
