Fukasaku first appeared when Jiraya accidentally reverse-summoned himself to Mount Myōboku while training with the technique. Jiraiya defeats a giant snake upon his arrival at Mount Myōboku and Gamabunta reports to Fukasaku about the appearance of a human child. Fukasaku then greeted the young shinobi and said that the Great Toad Sage was expecting him.
Fakusaku trained Jiraiya in the art of senjutsu and was present when Jiraiya was being briefed about his prophecy by the Great Toad Sage.
Jiraiya summoned Lord Fukasaku and Lady Shima to aid him during his battle against Pain. In addition to sitting on his shoulders to provide him natural energy, they offered him counsel and, when required, assaulted Pain. The duo was seen bickering to one another as Jiraiya progressed to battle against Pain after activating Sage Mode.
Three of Pain’s bodies could be defeated by their combined efforts. Fukasaku and Shima cast a genjutsu that enabled them to eliminate the three corpses, but they were quickly overpowered by the advent of three more.
Jiraiya ordered Shima to return to Konoha with the Animal Path he captured, after realizing that the battle was lost. Fukasaku joined him for his ultimate confrontation with Pain but Jiraiya soon sent Fukasaku away but only after learning Pain’ secret by carving a message into his back.
Fukasaku reached Konoha alongside a few other toads and informed Naruto and Konoha about Jiraiya’s passing and provided them with information he had gathered on Pain. Fukasaku then brought Naruto to Mount Myōboku to teach the latter senjutsu since he was aware of his desire for vengeance and the fact that he was not prepared enough to face Pain.
Fukasaku beat Naruto (and his shadow clones) with a staff to prevent him from absorbing too much natural energy while he practiced turning in with nature.
Naruto quickly advanced through the training phase and Fukasaku praised him for catching up to Jiraiya so quickly. After achieving Sage Mode, Naruto taught him the Frog Kata. When Naruto had completed the battling technique, Fukasaku tried to fuse with him the same way he had with Jiraiya.
However, this was impossible because of the fact that Naruto had the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed inside of him. While Naruto continued to find an alternative to achieve Sage Mode without Fukasaku, the latter learned about Kōsuke’s passing and Naruto realised that something was happening in Konoha.
Moments after Pain destroyed the village, Lady Shima summoned Naruto, Fukasaku, Gamaken, Gamabunta, Gamakichi and Gamahiro to Konoha’s center. Fukasaku and Shima assisted Naruto by addressing the summons from the Animal Path as he battled Pain. They were astounded by his perfected Wind Release: Rasenshuriken, something that he had not shown them during his training.
As the battle progressed further, Shima covered the area in a dust cloud knowing that the Animal Path must be gotten rid of. Fukasaku launched Gamabunta at the Animal Path, allowing Naruto the chance to finish it off. After a brief conflict, Pain soon had just one body remaining, and Fukasaku and Shima attempted to subdue it using a genjutsu. However, in the attempt, Fukasaku was murdered and Shima was knocked away by Pain.
Shima, who had recovered, sobbed for Fukasaku when their remains were eventually discovered. She was shocked and taken aback when Fukasaku was brought back to life after Pain was defeated and decided to bring everyone he had killed back to life. Shima and Fukasaku were later spotted standing atop Gamakichi’s head together from a distance as Konoha’s citizens welcomed back Naruto, following his victory over Pain.
In response to the Great Toad Sage’s command, Fukasaku summoned Naruto to Mount Myōboku. He is present when the Great Toad Sage tells Naruto about the prophecy he foresaw about the latter. Following, the Great Toad Sage’s prophecy, Fukasaku then kicked Gerotora to give him a lift as Naruto was having problems swallowing Gerotora as required by their contract. After that, the senior toad reverse- summoned Naruto to Ichiraku Ramen.
Fukasaku is incredibly knowledgeable and well respected just like his wife Shima. He is often arguing with Shima about little issues when they ought to be concentrating on more pressing issues, like the fact that a battle will make them miss supper. They remain close to one another, as seen when Shima was devastated by Pain’s murder of Fukasaku.
Despite the fact that Fukasaku is always serious even under the darkest circumstances, he and his wife will always find a reason to argue. He frequently refers to the “Great Toad Sage” as “senile” because of how often he forget things.
Both Fukasaku and Shima seem to enjoy Naruto’s company. Fukasaku first encountered Naruto when he informed Konoha about Jiraiya’s passing. He thought Naruto’s description of Jiraiya as the “Pervy Sage” was hilarious and quite appropriate, but he also noted that Naruto, as he was, would not be able to defeat Pain, to which he decided to volunteer to train Naruto by taking him to Mount Myōboku. Fukasaku anticipated that Naruto would exceed Jiraiya in power after he observed Naruto’s advancement in learning senjutsu chakra.
Fukasaku is a green toad with thin goatee, thick eyebrows, and white hair that has been groomed in a resemblance of a Mohawk.
He has been spotted sporting two different capes, one with a high collar and one without. The message, “the real one isn’t among them” by Jiraiya has been permanently engraved on his back because it was burned into his flesh.
Fukasaku and Shima are incredibly powerful in combat. Fukasaku can quickly strike with his tongue when Shima stretches a serpent-like monster from her stomach to seek out the enemy. Both are able to generate strong wind gusts and they are also quite intelligent, as seen by how quickly they identified a flaw in the way Pain used his Rinnegan.
This is an extremely powerful genjutsu that Fukasaku and Shima are able to perform. Jiraiya’s lack of genjutsu skill was offset by this skill which made their combo far more potent. However, this genjutsu takes time to play out and the duo must also modify their voices and hormonise in order to apply this approach.
When fully used, it attacks the opponent’s hearing and renders the target’s body completely paralysed. Fukasaku and Shima can’t use it repeatedly since it causes a painful throat later.
Fukasaku was well versed with Wind and Water release chakra. He employed Wind Release as a collaboration technique with Shima and Jiraiya. He was able to puncture through walls and flesh using one of the water techniques by reducing the opening of his mouth and increasing the force of water passing through it. He used this technique to cut one of Pain’s summons.
Fukasaku and Shima possess a high level of talent and expertise in Senjutsu, a branch of martial arts that enables practitioners to feel, gather and then channel the natural energy surrounding an individual inside of themselves before fusing it with their own chakra to produce senjutsu chakra. The practitioner receives a significant amount of a particular type of chakra that is more potent than other types of chakra in this natural energy-empowered state.
The extraordinarily high degree of raw strength, tremendous speed and enormous resistance to physical attacks are further advantages. With it, he can lift a massive frog statue that weighs considerably more than he does and is even capable of throwing Gamabunta if needed. Gamakichi claims that Fukasaku has perfect control over the ability to instantly gather a significant amount of natural energy. He also has excellent teaching skills as he was able to teach both Jiraiya and then Naruto.
Fukasaku allears briefly when Jiraiya is told of a prophecy by the Great Toad Sage in the alternate universe.
