Gama is first summoned by Jiraiya when the latter was annoyed with Ebisu. He is summoned to the hot springs to tongue-whip Ebisu. Later, he is summoned to provide the contract scroll for the toads to Naruto Uzumaki. He stayed there for a while watching Naruto as the latter failed to summon an actual toad.
A few days later, he is summoned again by Jiraiya when Kisame attempts to cut off Naruto’s arms. Gama blocked his attack just in time to save Naruto.
Later, he was summoned to save Naruto, Sakura and Sasame from Kagerō’s Earth Release: Antlion Technique.
Gama's personality is not fully understood as he was rarely seen talking. He only croaked once or twice. He does appear to be extremely loyal to Jiraiya, following him around and instantly obeying his orders. He was also the only summon who appeared to strike the same pose as Jiraiya.
Gama is a massive toad, large enough for Jiraiya to ride on his back. He has orange skin which is covered in blue markings. He has bandages wrapped around his body and left foreleg. He also wears a necklace with seven huge beads on it, with the kanji for “loyalty” on the central largest one. He also has swirl-like markings in the middle of his left palm, similar to Jiraiya’s. In combat, he is nearly always shown wearing samurai armor, which consists of a plate cuirass and arm-guards combined with classic samurai pauldrons.
Gama has shown skills in taijutsu, which benefit from his big size and toad characteristics, as witnessed by his long, extended tongue slamming around a competent ninja like Ebisu. He also appears to have significant power, as he was able to stop an attack from Kisame Hoshigaki, famed for his immense strength, with his armor, preventing his chakra from being drained by Kisame’s Samehada.
