Gengetsu Hozuki in Naruto

Gengetsu was among the group of people who were reincarnated by Kabuto. When he was told that he was reincarnated, Gengetsu was confused upon hearing the news of his own death, until Mu reminded him that they both killed each other a long time ago. This was confirmed when Gengetsu expressed his desire to kill Mu again, but his body wouldn't respond to his own commands. Mu tells him that this is a sign that their summoner had control over them.

When he pursued the retreating division throughout the night with the other Kages, he did not want to fight ninjas from his own village and cursed Orochimaru who had revived them under these circumstances. As they were talking, he saw a huge wave of sand coming towards them and wondered who the shinobi behind this were. They were saved by the Fourth Kazekage. Gengetsu concocted an effective way to counter the attack rather than being constantly restrained by the sand.

As the Fourth Kazekage spoke to his son about his reincarnation, he also got to know that Gaara now had friends. When he got to know that Gaara was the new Kazekage and the Regimental Commander of the Allied Shinobi Forces, he said that people without eyebrows are very charismatic. This demeanor of Gengetsu changed when he overheard Mu telling Onoki to take full advantage of this situation after the Alliance disbanded, so that Iwagakure could dominate. Gengetsu said that they each would reveal their abilities and weaknesses in order to hasten their defeat. As the battle started, he attempted to circle Gaara while being protected from his Sand Hail but was instead restrained by the embrace of the latter's sand.

He kept passing through the opponent's attacks without any injuries and he told them that it was futile, as he was just a mirage and they had to eliminate the calm in order to end the technique. They listened to him and made another barrage but when the smoke cleared, they realized that they had attacked a mirage again. The Mizukage told them to attack the real person but they failed.

As the battle continued, the majority of the army was incapacitated which made Gengetsu think that he was too strong for his own good. When Gaara struggled against him, Gengetsu said that he should go after Mu first as he was the stronger of the two, which made Gaara confess that he shouldn't judge someone based on their appearances alone, before he admitted that Gengetsu was strong.

As the sand continued to wrap around him, Gengetsu nullified it using his Hydrification technique but Gaara used more sand. As he is being sealed, he says that the battle had become far too much fun, by which time Garaa’s Desert Layered Imperial Funeral was completed, and the application of the sealing tags to its exterior by the sealing team had Gengetsu sealed. But Gengetsu easily escapes and the shinobis stand in horror. Oniki says that this isn't another genjutsu, but Gengetsu's 'infinite explosion ninjutsu: Steaming Danger Tyranny'.

After the clone condensed and began assaulting the shinobis, the weakened Mizukage found refuge while cursing Oniki for exposing the details of his techniques which he suspected Mu to have revealed to him before dying. The Mizukage's location was then revealed by a sensor and Gaara tried to imprison him before the clone could detonate and the seals were removed from the expanding clone. The other shinobis try to come up with a way to defeat him and Gaara told them that they couldn't defeat him with their current power and that they were way weaker than him. As the clone was preparing to explode again, Gengetsu laments the fact that he had been mistaken when he thought he had found the 'golden egg' amongst the current Kages.

Gengetsu was very impressed with Gaara for protecting the other shinobis and himself from the blast and reminded him that the situation will continue to take place if the clone wasn't stopped. Despite Gaara’s efforts and with his position also exposed, it was too late as another explosion was on its way and his sand would be unable to restrain the clone. However, Gengetsu was shocked when the clone was finally caught and did not explode as it was covered with a layer of gold, and he thought that Gaara’s father was behind this. Gengetsu names Gaara as the 'golden egg'. When Naruto’s clone arrived at the battlefield, he asked Gaara if everything was alright before mistaking Gengetsu's body to be the pyramid which imprisoned him. This made Gengetsu think that Naruto was idiotic and a polar opposite of Gaara, but they do make a good duo. As Gaara completed the seal, Gengetsu said that this was the most fun he's had in a while.

Gengetsu was laid back, jovial, and had a carefree attitude. He was also very charismatic but can also be a bully at times. Gengetsu takes a liking to shinobi who show a lot of potential. He can be forgetful at times and he cares deeply about the shinobis of his village. He also has a strong sense of honor as can be seen in the Fourth Great Shinobi War.

Gengetsu is seen as having a short temper at times. He is quite sensitive about his facial hair and doesn't like people pointing it out or talking about it. He had also taken a liking to Gaara and called him the golden egg as he had proved his worth to him.

Gengetsu was tall and slender, with long, blond hair which he kept combed back. He also had a triangular goatee, a thin mustache, no eyebrows and prominent lines on the sides of his mouth. His clothing consisted of a long-sleeved, high-collared, gray kimono with a pin striped print on it. He also wore a dark green suit, a sash wrapped around his waist with sandals that reached up to his calves.

Gengetsu was proficient in Water, Fire, Lightning and Earth Release. As a member of the Hozuki clan, his most prominent element was Water Release as he could transform his body into liquid state and then back into solid form at will. He used his index finger to fire bullets of water that were strong enough to pierce through a sand clone. He can also create water bubbles that can strike down enemies with force and speed.

Gengetsu's body is a mixture of oil and water which gives him a unique composition. He is able to use the substance to perform powerful techniques in which he can create oil and water mixed clones of himself. When these clones move around, the oil inside them heats up and causes the water inside to evaporate. The clone expands in size with the inbuilt pressure which then causes a huge and violent explosion. When the water vapor that goes into the air cools down, it creates hail and makes the clones all over again. This is known as Gengetsu's Infinite Explosion Ninjutsu.

Gengetsu can summon a Giant Clan to assist him during combat. He works in collaboration with his summon and can create mirages to hide their actual locations. These mirages are so realistic that the shinobis cannot differentiate them from reality. The way to end the mirage is to destroy the real clam.
