Gonbee’s Background

Very little is known about Gonbee as his past is still shrouded in mystery. In the series, Gonbee was introduced as a Kirigakure jonin. It is also stated that at some point in time, he became Chōjūrō’s superior. He taught and trained Chōjūrō with all his might, with strictness, and with love. He is also a close associate of Genji, an elder of Kirigakure.

Gonbee made his debut in the anime in the Five Kage Summit Arc. When Mei Terumi, the Fifth Mizukage, was about to leave for the Kage Summit with two of her guards, Ao and Chōjūrō, Gonbee instructed Chōjūrō to protect the Fifth Mizukage and insure her safety at all costs.

As Gonbee has not made an appearance since it is hard to determine whether he is alive or dead. For the time being, based on his last status, he is presumed to be alive and well until any additional information comes to light suggesting otherwise.
