Iwana (Otogakure) in Naruto

Very little is known about Iwana as his past is still shrouded in mystery. Based on the information at hand, Iwana was a shinobi of Otogakure and a member of Team Kajika, consisting of Yamame and himself, led by Kajika.

Iwana made his on-screen debut in the OVA Naruto: The Cross Roads. In the OVA, Team 7 of Konoha — Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno, led by Kakashi Hatake - is dispatched from Konoha to locate a missing person, Genmai, who was apparently lost in the hills.

However, Genmai was actually kidnapped by Kajika, a rogue ninja of Kirigakure. While Kakashi went on ahead to finish his reconnaissance for Genmai, the rest of Team 7 stayed behind. While they were waiting for their sensei to return, they were attacked by Team Kajika. As it turns out, Kajika kidnapped Genmai to lure Team 7 to them, particularly Sasuke Uchiha. As the Hidden Leaf genins defend themselves, Kajika takes advantage of this opportunity and kidnaps Sakura and takes her to their base while Iwana and Yamame keep Naruto and Sasuke occupied.

Later, Iwana and Yamame returned to Kajika after taking care of Naruto and Sasuke. However, to Kajika’s surprise, they were actually Sasuke and Naruto in disguise, to catch Kajika off guard. What happened to Iwana after this incident is unknown.

This is the only incident where Iwana made an appearance, and he hasn’t reappeared since. Due to the lack of information, it is hard to determine whether he is still alive or not. For the time being, Iwana is believed to be deceased until any additional information comes to light suggesting otherwise.

Iwana has a limited role in the series and did not have any opportunity to display his personality. However, it is stated that Iwana was loyal to Orochimaru. In his limited role, Iwana also showed a little bit of his perverted side as he got a nosebleed after witnessing Naruto’s Harem Jutsu. Iwana is also quick to lose his temper. He vowed to kill Naruto for using Harem Jutsu on him.

Iwane was overconfident in his abilities as a shinobi as he underestimated the genins of Team 7 and their abilities.

Iwana was a rather young individual by appearance. He was dressed in a green shark-like top with a hood that resembled a shark's head, dark slacks, and an accessory that resembled a dorsal fin on the back. In addition, he had two purple spots beneath each of his black eyes. His outfit covered most of his face, with only his eyes exposed. He also carried a massive shuriken on his back.

Iwana was a shinobi of Otogakure. Based on the information available, he excelled in stealth missions. He was proficient in Hiding with Camouflage Jutsu. With this technique, he was able to manipulate the light around him with his chakra, making him essentially invisible to the naked eye.

Iwana was also skilled in Taijutsu, as seen by his role in the series. It is also believed he excelled in the use of ninja tools as he carried a huge shuriken on his back.
