He was a shinobi from Amegakure who took part in the Chunin Exams in Konohagakure (Village Hidden in the Leaves)., but very little else is known about his upbringing or past. He demonstrated his skill as a shinobi and was successful in qualifying for the second round of the chunin exams.
In the second phase of the exam, Midare and the members of Team Shigure—Shigure and Baiu—confronted the Sand Siblings—Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro—in the Forest of Death. Unfortunately, Midare and his teammates were no match for Gaara when Shigure targeted Gaara for his scroll.
Shigure used his Senbon Shower technique to corner his opponent, but Gaara's sand put a halt to his plans. As soon as he had the chance, Gaara used his Sand Binding Coffin jutsu to imprison Shigure, Midare, and Baiu. Gaara then killed the entire Team Shigure by crushing them with his sand coffin.
Due to his lack of appearance in the series, fans of the series never had the chance to get to know Midare. However, it is stated that Midare was overconfident in his and Shigure’s abilities, underestimating his opponents. It is also claimed that Midare was a selfish and spiteful person with a cunning personality.
Midare was reasonably tall, had a fair complexion, dark black glasses or markings with separate dark blue lenses, and no eyebrows. He wore a pin-striped light grey jumpsuit with a dark black side going down in the center.
He also had an oxygen tank on his person, carried on the right side of his invisible pocket or foreleg, dark black shoes, light grey gloves, and an altered Kasa hat with the Amegakure symbol on the front of it. He carried a dark black sheath on his back to carry his four umbrellas.
Although Midare was a genin-level ninja from the Hidden Rain Village, it is stated that he excelled in assassination techniques and would strike his targets while staying hidden within the rainfall. He also acted as a strategist for his team with his cunning nature.
