Mount Myōboku in Naruto

Mount Myōboku, also known as the “Mountain of Bewilderment and the “Land of Toads”, is one of the big three unexplored sage regions, a legendary place that is equally as profound as the other two, Shikkotsu Forest and Ryūchi Cave.

All about Mount Myōboku

It is the country of toads and home of all the toads summoned by Naruto Uzumaki, Minato Namikaze, and Jiraiya. It is home to both large and small toads. Mount Myōboku is a lush and lovely land where the Great Toad Sage appears to be the ultimate authority. Shima and Fukasaku are both elders and sages, and they appear to have more authority than Gamabunta.

To get to Mount Myōboku, a human must either travel for a month via secret pathways from Konohagakure or, if they have a summoning contract, allow a toad to execute the Reverse Summoning Technique. Mount Myōboku, according to Fukasaku, is difficult to reach by foot unless you know the hidden route. Jiraiya was brought to Mount Myōboku in his youth using the summoning technique without a contract.

The Distant Water Body portal connects Mount Myōboku and Konohagakure, allowing smaller toads to travel between the two without using the summoning technique. When combined with a toad capable of performing the Summoning Technique, the toads can be called to aid Konohagakure in case a living toad summoned is not present.

On Mount Myōboku, there is a score of musical genjutsu that have been passed down since time immemorial, such as the Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant, a technique mastered by two great toad sages. This genjutsu is extremely powerful and it can be only done by mixing the melody and lyrics that only toads can recite. Some Mount Myōboku residents can gather natural energy using senjutsu.

Rock Lodging is a special area in Mount Myōboku where a great, fire-breathing toad lives. Mount Myōboku keeps a list of its inhabitants and the name of a Mount Myōboku toad remains there until it dies.

On Mount Myōboku, there is a sacred fountain that releases a special oil that allows people to more readily feel the natural energy around them, but if the individual is not completely motionless when becoming one with nature, he or she begins to transform into a toad and finally turns into stone. This oil can only exist in the mountain’s environment and will evaporate if transported outside. There are numerous sculptures of frog ancestors and those who attempted to acquire senjutsu but failed and became toad statues. The statues are held in high regard.
