Ponta in Naruto

Very little is known about his childhood and Ponta’s past as his heritage is still shrouded in mystery. Due to his limited appearances in the series, close to nothing is known about his lineage or background other than the fact that he is a trusted companion of Sabu.

Ponta first appeared in the Five Kage Summit Arc. He was first seen while Sabu was teaching Killer B, the Jinchuriki of the Eight-Tails, about music and advised him to put more soul, and passion into his music and singing to make it better.

Ponta charged toward Kisame Hoshigaki, a member of the infamous Akatsuki, as soon as he arrived during their practice to capture B. Unfortunately, Ponta was no match for Kisame and was easily defeated.

Ponta got ensnared in Kisame's Water Release: Great Exploding Water Colliding Wave technique as the fight between Killer and Kisame progressed. Ponta and Sabu were rescued from the floating water dome by Killer B, who managed to entice Kisame, who had been merged with Samehada, away from them.

Ponta has not appeared since this occurrence and thus his absence makes it impossible to say for sure whether he is dead or alive. He is currently assumed to be alive and well unless any information surfaces indicating otherwise.

Due to his lack of appearance in the series and any related information, almost nothing is known about Ponta’s personality. From the limited appearance he had, it can be deduced that Ponta is very protective of his companions and is quick to attack when threatened.

Even though Ponta is a raccoon, Kisame Hoshigaki mistook him for a bear due to his enormous size which easily dwarfs that of his companion Sabu. With some brown fur on his forehead, ears, feet, and tail, his primary color is orange. However, the area right around his mouth is white. He has little black eyes and bandages on his front paws.

Ponta is rather big in terms of size. He possesses great physical raw strength but in terms of abilities and techniques, not much is known.

In addition to anime and manga, Ponta also appears in games. He made his debut in the gaming category with the release of Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact.
