Who is Obito Uchiha?

Obito was a cheerful child who was always late to the team gatherings because he would help everyone he would see on the way there. Since he was orphaned, he dreamt of being the Hokage one day to make everyone acknowledge him. He had feelings for his teammate, Rin Nohara but was always insecure about her relationship with Kakashi Hatake, who would outperform him at everything. This pattern continued until one day, an unfortunate tragedy struck.

Kakashi was promoted to jonin and he was tasked as team leader for a mission. During this mission, Rin gets captured and Obito tells Kakashi that rescuing Rin is priority, but Kakashi says that the mission comes first. Obito calls him worse than scum and goes on to try and rescue Rin but moved by Obito’s words, Kakashi also joins him but get attacked by ninja and loses his left eye.

Seeing this, Obito unlocks his sharingan and fights alongside Kakashi and together, they finally save Rin from the cave she was trapped in. But the cave is forced to collapse, by outside forces, and Obito notices that Kakashi is in danger and pushes him out of the way, but traps himself in the process. He gives Kakashi his own eye as his dying wish, and then ‘dies’.

However, unknown to the rest of the team, Madara Uchiha ordered White Zetsu to rescue Obito after they left. He saves Obito by taking his damaged body parts and replaces them with Hashirama Senju’s cells. Obito feels grateful towards Madara and stays there to rehabilitate himself, excited to meet his friends again. During this time, Madara tells Obito about his plans to save the world which Obito would dismiss.

Eventually, Obito would recover to an extent and sneaked out with the help of White Zetsu to the battlefield where he was told Rin and Kakashi were surrounded. As soon as he reaches the battlefield, he witnesses Kakashi’s hand go through Rin’s body, killing her. Rin had jumped into Kakashi’s chidori to sacrifice herself as taking her back to the village would cause it to be attacked.

Devastated, Obito returned to Madara and asked if there was a way to reunite him with Kakashi and Rin. He says that there is a way and explains infinite Tsukuyomi to him, where nobody has a reason to die. Neither of them are aware of Black Zetsu’s plan at that point which sees Obito offers his complete support to Madara.

He then goes on to do a series of things as he takes on the name Tobi and joins the Akatsuki before going to Leaf village and releases Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Fox there. This plan gets foiled as he gets utterly defeated by his master, and then Hokage, Minato Namikaze. He also played a role in the downfall of the Uchiha clan, murdering the police station. He offered Itachi a role in the Akatsuki as well.

Obito thn summons the Ten Tails and prepares for an infinite tsukuyomi, but is interrupted by Naruto and Sasuke. Watching them, he realised the errors in his way and decided to help defeat Kaguya using his mangekyou sharingan. He dies a hero and tells Kakashi not to join him as he wanted to spend some time alone with Rin.

Obito has a lot of abilities but not all are shown in the anime. Ever since he was a genin, he was always outperformed by his teammate, Kakashi. Obito was not especially bad but rather just average at everything. Not much was expected of him, despite the fact that he always wanted to be stronger. When he became strong was when he was taught by Madara Uchiha – the strongest Uchiha of all time.

Due to the White Zetsu in his body, his chakra reserves were greatly amplified. It allowed him to use his Mangekyou Sharingan frequently without any chakra problems unlike Kakashi, who could use it only a few times before he was exhausted. Obito’s chakra is so great that he can do chakra heavy jutsu without being exhausted.

Not only that, Obito is also incredibly strong physically. He was on par with Kakashi, the 6th Hokage, and was strong enough to damage Konan while confronting her even when he was injured. Because of all these, Obito is perceived to be a master at Taijutsu as well.

Due to his sharingan being incredibly overpowered, Obito Uchiha does not rely on a lot of techniques. But some of his most iconic techniques are as follows:

1. Sharingan: A technique exclusive to the Uchiha clan. This eye-based jutsu is powered on hatred. The Uchiha are known for their love, but when they hate, they hate just as much. This powers the Sharingan to be stronger. It keeps upgrading through the series, becoming a mangekyou sharingan and a rinnegan.
2. Sealing techniques: Obito’s sealing techniques are so strong that he uses it on the tailed beasts as well as the ten tails to seal it within himself. To put this in perspective, the fourth Hokage had to sacrifice his own life to do this
