Shojoji is a criminal who became a missing-nin and formed a group of bandits. He was very good at hiding his true identity. Once, he tried to steal something from a secret place but found out there were dangerous people. In the anime, he was caught by some ninja who were after him and his gang. To avoid revealing his identity, he ate one of his own gang members and pretended to be them. He was then put in jail.
Using his shadow manipulation techniques, Shojoji was able to pressure the children quickly, but with Kokuri's help, they were able to overpower him. However, he managed to escape with Kokuri and consumed him using the Corpse Clone Technique, taking on his form. Shojoji later posed as Yamaoka, who was the butler of Tento Madoka, and kidnapped him, demanding a ransom and the release of all prisoners.
Boruto Uzumaki went to Shojoji's hideout alone, and there he stopped Shojoji from devouring Tento and fought him. Boruto used his Rasengan against him and caused him heavy injury, but he stood up. When he was about to hit Boruto, Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki came and knocked him out.
Later Sai and Sasuke, alongside Ibiki Morino, interrogated him what they learned from Shojoji that the group responsible for Boruto's mark was called "Kara" and was hidden in Amegakure.
Sometime later, to test his new Rasengan, Boruto had to fight Shojoji to test his progress and readiness to defeat Deepa. The fight was arranged by Kakashi, who requested Ibiki to bring Shojoji to the Konoha Military Police Force facility. Shojoji agreed to participate on the condition that his sentence would be reduced if he won.
Boruto was confident that he could win after his recent progress, but he struggled to overcome Shojoji's powerful defense jutsu that even his Wind Release: Rasengan couldn't penetrate. However, Boruto eventually defeated Shojoji with his Compression Rasengan. Kakashi noted that if it wasn't for Shojoji's wind counter, Boruto's jutsu could have killed him.
Shojoji is shown to be cruel, sadistic, and arrogant. He takes pleasure in torturing his victims and belittling them. He is also cunning and manipulative, attempting to negotiate a reduced sentence in exchange for fighting Boruto.
During his first appearance, Shojoji donned the same attire as his prey, Yamaoka, which caused his sizeable midsection to protrude through the shirt, and he left the vest and some buttons undone at the top. Additionally, he accessorized with a chain that adorned his thick neck.
Shojoji is a big guy with a green mohawk hairstyle that's styled back with a shaved design on the sides of his head. He has a mutton chop facial hair style that connects his sideburns to his mustache, but he has no beard except for a little stubble. He was first seen wearing dark clothes with an irezumi on his left shoulder and back. He also has a big chain around his neck.
Shojoji is a formidable opponent with several unique abilities that make him a challenging foe to face. One of his most notable abilities is his powerful defense jutsu, which allows him to deflect easily even the strongest of attacks. He achieves this by using a wind-based counter to neutralize any incoming attacks.
In addition to his defensive prowess, Shojoji is also an expert in close combat. He possesses incredible strength and speed, allowing him to overpower his opponents easily. He is also skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and his massive size and weight give him an advantage in grappling and throwing his opponents.
Shojoji also has a unique ability to consume and digest anything he eats, including inorganic materials like weapons and armor. This ability makes him extremely difficult to incapacitate or restrain, as he can simply consume any restraints or bindings placed on him. Overall, Shojoji's combination of defensive jutsu, close combat expertise, and unique abilities make him a dangerous opponent who is not to be underestimated.
