Watase in Naruto

Very little is known about Watase as his past is still shrouded in mystery. Almost nothing is known about him other than the fact that he is a genin of Konoha.

Additionally, he is only a part of the Naruto anime which makes him a filler, non-canon character in the series.

Watase made his debut in episode 281 of the Naruto Shippuden anime. In the episode, Watase was present at the meeting that Ebisu sensei, a tokubetsu jonin of Konoha, organized when he regretted the fact that he was not born earlier so that he could have fought on the battlefield in the Fourth Great Shinobi War. Later, when Konohamaru gathered the village's genin to prepare them for the impending attack, Watase told him to quit acting as the Hokage.

This resulted in a brawl between Watase and Konohamaru which forced Watase to pull a kunai on his opponent. This brawl met its conclusion before things got much worse, and Watase afterward joins the fight against the Sumo Wrestlers. He then told Konohamaru that he would continue the Will of Fire. Later, he was a member of a genin squad charged with patrolling different areas of the village.

Watase hasn’t made an appearance yet after his incident. It makes it nearly impossible to determine whether he is alive or not. For the time being, Watase is believed to be alive until any information comes to light suggesting otherwise.

Watase is a young, proud, ambitious, and stubborn boy. He was eager to participate in the Fourth Great Shinobi War despite his young age. He believed that to be a great shinobi worthy of becoming a hero or Hokage, his connections with others do not matter and only a shinobi’s contributions on the battlefield make them worthy of becoming a hero or the Holage.

Watase admires Naruto, considering him a hero. After his encounter with Konohamaru, Watase started believing in the Will of Fire. Watase is also popular amongst his peers as they consider him cool.

Watase is a young boy who has spiky, shoulder-length brown hair which he keeps tied in a ponytail, dark eyes, and a scar below his left eye. He wears a full-sleeved, green jacket with meshed armor underneath, paired with grey pants with white bandages wrapped around his right thigh and a pair of sandals.

Watase is a genin of Konoha so he surely possesses the skills required to be a shinobi. In his brawl with Konohamaru, he displayed great use of taijutsu techniques. However, the full extent of his abilities remains a mystery.
