Idate Morino in Naruto

Idate Morino graduated from the Konoha Ninja Academy and became a genin, and after some time he applied for the Chunin exams in which his brother Ibiki Morino was the proctor in the 1st stage.

Ibiki came up with a tenth question but with the condition that if they could not answer it, they would never be able to take the chunin exams again. If they chose to leave now, they could try the exam again in the next sixth month. Idate chose to stay with his teammates, who made all of them disqualified because they took a bet on their whole future for just six months.

Idate was depressed because of failure but Aoi Rokusho took advantage of that and told him that there was another way to pass the chunin exams. He made him steal the secret scroll and Sword of the Thunder God and when he did, he explained his plan.

Idate went with Aoi to Amegakure (the Village Hidden in the Rain), so he could become a jonin but Ibiki found his plan and caught up with them. Aoi was able to capture him and Idate.

Idate and his brother were being held hostage by Aoi. Aoi asked Ibiki to open the secret scroll, which he refused even though he had to sacrifice his brother's life. Ibiki somehow broke free and told Idate to run away and then he ran away to the Land of Tea.

Idate started to steal so he could eat, and one day he encountered Jirocho Wasabi but failed to attack him. Jirocho felt sad for the young boy and asked him if he wanted to be with him as part of the family, which Idate accepted. Jirocho gave him a pocket knife, which became his most important possession.

After some time, when Kyuroku Wagarashi challenged Jirocho Wasabi to the Todoroki Shrine Race and told him that whoever won the competition would lead the town for the next four years, Jirocho accepted and selected Idate to run in the race.

When Jirocho heard that the Wagarashi family hired a ninja who could attack Idate in the race. Jirocho requested Lady Tsunade for help but due to a shortage of shinobi, Tsunade sent Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha to guard Idate in the race.

Idate met Team Kakashi at the tea house and when he had no money to pay for his food, he went to them and started flirting with Sakura. He also said bad things about them, which made Naruto furious but when the tea shop owner brought the bill, she said that Idate told her that they would pay for him and ran off.

Idate ran off but soon tripped, which made Team Kakashi catch him. He apologized and told that his money was stolen, and then again ran off.

When Team Kakashi was talking to Jirocho about the mission, he called Idate to tell him that he wanted them to guard him in the race.

When the race started, Idate took another route because he knew that it would be hard for his boat to go across to the other island, but everyone thought he had ditched them. The Wagarashi family hired Aoi to make their runner Fukusuke Hikyakyu win.

Aoi told Team Oboro to chase Idate and Team Kakashi. Team Oboro placed a Genjutsu, which almost made Idate fall from a cliff, but Team Kakashi saved him. Then, when they were on the boat, Team Oboro again attacked them and burned their boat, which made Idate and Team Kakashi swim to the other Island.

When Idate reaches the other island side he finds Aoi, who injured him and Team Kakashi but after some time, Naruto motivates Idate, which makes him run.

Aoi again crossed their path but they were able to defeat him, and then Idate was able to beat Fukusuke in the race to win.

Kyuroku and the Evil Minister of the Tea Daimyo tried to accuse him of racing against the rules but then the Land of Tea Daimyo showed them pictures of them taking and giving bribes. He even fired the evil minister from his post and told Kyuroku that he would never take control of Dagarashi Port.

When Ibiki came to the Dagarashi Port to pick up the injured shinobi, Idate called him brother, but Ibiki said he had no brother and his brother fled long ago. Idate realized why he was saying this. Then he thanked Team Kakashi for everything.

Idate Morino at a young age was cheerful yet impatient and because of that, he failed to pass the chunin exam. He is not very bright in terms of intelligence and got tricked by Aoi. He loves his brother and wishes to be a better shinobi than him.

Idate was a coward at first because he ran away when Aoi told him that he would get punished and he also did not try to save his brother when Aoi caught him. Later, he became loyal to Jirocho because he gave him a new life when he had no place to go but he was still arrogant. After he met Naruto and when he understood that people are more important than being a great shinobi, he changed and became a brave young guy.

Idate Morino used to wear a green sleeveless T-shirt and under that he wore a white half-sleeve T-shirt with trousers and a Konoha headband. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

When Idate became a member of the Wasabi family, he started to wear a gray cloak and straw hat. He wears a black t-shirt and shorts with a high ankle weight holder and sandals. In the race, he wore a blue kimono shirt and shorts.

Idate Morino is a skilled genin rank shinobi and knows how to use kunai very well. He is very fast and wears a weight just like Rock Lee to increase his speed. He can break through Genjutsu by releasing it.
