Gamakichi resides in Mount Myōboku, the Land of Toads. He is first seen in the series when Naruto attempts to summon his father, Gamabunta, during Konoha Crush.
Naruto decided to summon Gamabunta when Sakura Haruno was about to be crushed during the struggle with the transformed Gaara. However, due to his lack of chakra control, he could only summon Gamakichi, who was a tiny toad at the time. Despite his irritation, Naruto protected Gamakichi from Gaara’s attacks, and when Naruto was finally able to summon Gamabunta, Gamakichi convinced his father to join the battle by telling him that Naruto had saved him from Gaara and that he, in turn, needed aid defending his “girlfriend”.
During the battle with Orochimaru, Jiraiya mistakenly summoned Gamakichi due to the paralyzing effects of Tsunade’s medicine, which were still in his system, rendering him unable to effectively control his chakra. He would later warn his summoned brother Gamatatsu to flee when their father, Katsuyu, and Manda, along with their respective summoners, were ready to battle. Gamakichi later stood on the sidelines with Tonton and his brother, watching the battle between the three Sanin.
Gamakichi appeared briefly in the Land of Birds when he and Naruto required Gamatatsu. Despite Naruto’s belief that he would be useless, Gamatatsu used his curiosity to discover a kite that revealed the Cursed Warrior flew. Later, he and Naruto traveled through a dark tunnel with Gamatatsu, and Naruto was caught by Sagi and his soldiers.
When Naruto was unable to synchronize with Gamariki in order to study collaboration ninjutsu, he chose to summon Gamakichi and Gamatatsu, with whom he had previously worked well. Naruto discovered that neither of them had any skill in Water Release technique after successfully synchronizing with them. Gamakichi teaches Gamatatsu the fundamentals of Water Release with the assistance of Naruto and instruction from their father.
Sometime later, when Team Yamato was unable to break through Guren’s Crystal barrier through conventional means, Naruto summons Gamakichi and Gamatatsu for assistance. Gamakichi kept Gamatatsu focused by reminding him that if he didn’t concentrate on the task at hand, he wouldn’t get any food. This allows Gamatatsu to break through the barrier and return to Mount Myōboku.
Much to their annoyance, Naruto keeps summoning both to fight Team Guren and the Three-Tails. During the fight, Gamakichi pointed out that their Water Release method would be useless against the beast’s water-based skills. Naruto lamented the fact that they didn’t have a Fire Release technique to evaporate the beast’s water, but Gamakichi pointed out that he could use Fire Release: Flame Bullet, and together with him, they were able to perform the Wind Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet.
Naruto, Gamakichi and Gamatatsu combined their techniques to produce the Wind Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet after sending Gamatatsu back temporarily to Mount Myōboku to bring back a stomachful of toad oil. The resulting inferno destroyed the Three-Tails’ water attack, sending the turtle demon fleeing beneath the lake’s surface. Gamakichi and Gamatatsu returned home after defeating the Three-Tails.
Gamakichi appeared after Jiraiya’s death, and when Naruto learned about the horrible tragedy. Later, he was present during Naruto’s senjutsu training, having called Naruto to Mount Myōboku and later watching him train under Fukasaku. He was summoned during Pain’s invasion of Konoha, and Naruto told him to get Tsunade to safety.
He stayed with Sakura after bringing Tsunade to her side, and laughed as he thought Deva Path fled to use Chibaku Tensei, believing that Naruto had scared him away. Sakura, on the other hand, reprimanded him, and reminded him of the danger with Naruto and the need to take this opportunity to help out Hinata Hyūga, who had been severely injured. Later, he is seen with the other villagers congratulating Naruto on his victory over Nagato.
Gamakichi appeared alongside Aoda and Katsuyu when Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke used the Summoning Technique at the same time. As he appeared, he is seen to have grown significantly in size, resembling Gamabunta, and holding a cigarette in his mouth. Naruto was taken aback when Gamabunta did not appear, but praised Gamakichi’s growth when he mentioned that his father was busy.
Naruto ordered Gamakichi to get the original Ten-Tails while the former prepared his jutsu to attack the Ten-Tails. Gamakichi jumped high into the air and used his tantō to destroy the attacks of the guards.
Later, when Hashirama ordered Sasuke and Naruto to stop Obito, who appeared atop the Ten-Tails, Gamakichi made his way towards the barrier. He arrived at the location in time for Naruto to retrieve Sasuke and Minato as Obito sealed the Ten-Tails within himself, stopping midway as Minato came ahead of them and cut Obito down. When Tobirama and Hashirama launched a counterattack against Obito after being attacked themselves, Minato transferred Gamakichi to a safe distance where they watched as Obito was bombarded with explosions.
Later, he was ambushed by Obito, who had attacked them from underground. While recovering from the attack, Gamakichi observed the events on the battlefield, noting that they needed to be extremely cautious because one error may spell their doom. Afterwards, Gamakichi observed in disbelief as one of Obito’s attacks prepared to expand in their vicinity that threatened to wipe them all out.
After Naruto and Sasuke’s second attack on Obito, he pondered aloud if they had finally gotten him. His question, however, was addressed when Obito emerged unhurt from the flames. While the team was replanning their strategy, Gamakichi attacked Obito with the Starch Syrup Gun method, and noted that the Summoning Technique will soon run out of time, and that he wanted to try something before leaving. The attack worked against Obito, which implied that senjutsu worked against him. Thus, the team subsequently discovered Obito’s seeming vulnerability to senjutsu-enhanced attacks which ultimately, lead to his downfall.
Gamakichi is rather funny, with the attitude of a sharp aleck. In most situations, he is also patronizing and light-hearted, preferring the humor of conversation to the gravity of battle. He became close to Naruto after saving him from Gaara in his small Shukaku form. When he is summoned, he usually greets people with “Yo” (in English: Hey).
It is worth noting that in Part II, Gamakichi matured as well, aside from just growing bigger in size. When it comes to human-toad combination techniques and natural energy, Gamakichi appears to have a considerable amount of understanding. He also appears to be getting along better with his younger brother, Gamatatsu, as witnessed by him no longer calling him an idiot.
When Gamakichi is summoned during the Fourth Shinobi World War, he is shown to have started smoking like his father. As a result of this, his attitude has become a lot more like his father’s, as Naruto observed that along with his increased size, he also has an ego to match. At the same time, he is shown to be extremely dutiful; as he realized his summoning time was almost running out, he resolved to help Naruto one last time.
Gamakichi first appeared as a small orange toad with purple markings around his eyes, mouth and tummy. He wore a blue jacket and was small enough to fit on top of Naruto’s head like Akamaru could on top of Kiba’s head in Part I.
During Pain’s Assault on Konoha, Gamakichi has grown large enough for Naruto to stand on his head, but was still small enough for him to stand on Gamabunta. He matured more by the start of the Fourth Shinobi World War, and is now nearly as massive as his father (about 10 cm shorter), with Naruto riding on top of his head.
He now smokes a cigarette and wields a massive tantō. He also has a necklace with a huge bead on it. During this time, his color scheme has also changed.
At the beginning of the series, Gamakichi’s abilities were limited but as an adult toad, he proved to be a powerful opponent and dependable partner. He has the ability to leap great distances in a relatively short time, and also wields a tantō similar to his father’s, with which he has shown remarkable proficiency during the Fourth Shinobi World War, deflecting shots from the Ten-Tails’ minions.
Gamakichi has demonstrated the ability to summon Naruto to Mount Myōboku using the Reverse Summoning Technique. As a toad of Mount Myōboku, he is well skilled in the art of senjutsu and was able to see the flow and accumulation of natural energy earlier in the series.
Gamakichi has shown the ability to combine senjutsu with his Water Release nature transformation skills in order to use the Starch Syrup Gun technique, which forms a viscous blanket of water to attack his opponents with. He has also demonstrated the ability to perform Fire Release techniques, such as the Fire Release: Flame Bullet and the Wind Release: Toad Oil Flame Bullet, which he learned with his brother and Naruto.

A. Yes, Gamakichi is Naruto’s personal summon. Even though Naruto prefers to summon Gamabunta in a battle, he coordinates well enough alongside Gamakichi as well as his younger brother Gamatatsu.
A. Gamakichi is now as massive as Gamabunta, but when it comes to abilities, it is quite difficult to point out who is stronger, as the father-son duo have their own special abilities besides senjutsu. However, Gamabunta is known to be the strongest among the toad summonings.
