When Nico Robin was eight years old she ate the Hana Hana no Mi and gained its power. Due to eating this devil fruit, she had been treated like an outsider by the people of Ohara.
The Hana Hana no Mi is in the shape of a pink flower with a stem sprouting from the top. They have the usual curly swirls on them. This fruit resembles a pink dahlia.
The major strength of this fruit is its ability to sprout out multiple body parts from any part, including the user’s own body. The user can also manipulate these parts like they were an extension of their original parts. The user is the only one who is aware where their body parts will sprout out, this gives the fruit the element of surprise. This fact helps the user trap their enemies and they wouldn't be able to counter it. The user is also able to attack the enemies all at once. This devil fruit is quite versatile and allows the user to multitask.
Even though the Hana Hana no Mi is really powerful it still has some weaknesses. If any sprouted part of the user is injured, it directly affects the user’s body. This also applies to people whose devil fruit usage is physical touch. Even though they can increase the size of their sprouted parts, if the body part is gigantic then they are prone to be open to attacks. The sprouted limbs are the reflection of the user’s physical strength. The sprouted limbs are bound to the surface and they cannot move from their spot. These sprouted limbs are also vulnerable against any environmental hazards like fire. The user also needs to see the object in order to effectively sprout their limbs. Other than that they have the standard devil weakness, that is the inability to swim.
We can see that Nico Robin has been using her devil fruit powers since she was just a child. She was considered an outcast due to her bizarre powers. As a child, Robin used her devil fruit powers for self defense. As an adult, Robin used her devil fruit powers for combat. Her fighting style is replicating her arms on specific points of her opponents to either immobilize them, disarm them, or perform painful joint locks. When Robin activates her fruit's power, she usually crosses her arms in front of her like she is concentrating. She also uses her devil fruit powers for things other than combat, like for multitasking.
Robin can be seen using her powers to replicate her arms a lot. She tends to flood a pattern in which she says the number of arms she will sprout and from there it depends where she sprouts her arms. Aside from her arms, Robin can also replicate other parts of her body. These allow her to do a variety of things like helping her gain insight on her enemies or transporting anything or anyone.
After the timeskip, Robin had acquired new skills like being able to grow a thousand arms at once and also learning how to replicate her entire body. She also learned Fishman karate which helped her improve her fighting style.
