Yamakaji’s History

Enies Lobby Arc

After the Buster Call was ordered on Enies Lobby, Yamakaji, along with Momonga, Onigumo, Doberman, and Strawberry, was summoned to lead the attack against the Straw Hat Pirates and their allies. They arrived and initiated a bombardment on the island with cannon fire.

Yamakaji was later seen listening to reports about the extensive destruction, with the entire island except the Bridge of Hesitation being wiped out. Despite the island's destruction, the Buster Call failed as the intended targets managed to escape to sea, avoiding casualties.

Marineford Arc

Yamakaji participated in the Summit War of Marineford. As the conflict between the Whitebeard Pirates and their allies unfolded, he advised Tsuru to stand back, but she quickly dismissed his suggestion. Yamakaji was later observed observing Luffy's attempt to confront the three admirals. He also witnessed Garp's defeat by Luffy with evident distress.

Wano Country Arc

Following the disbandment of the Seven Warlords, Yamakaji led a Marine fleet to attack Amazon Lily and capture Boa Hancock. However, they faced resistance, and when Blackbeard's crew arrived, Yamakaji refrained from attacking without the headquarters' permission. During the conflict, Hancock petrified Yamakaji and his subordinates, but they were later freed by Silvers Rayleigh.

Despite not receiving clearance to fight Blackbeard, the pirates managed to abduct 800 Marine soldiers and one battleship. Koby, a member of SWORD, offered himself in exchange for the captured soldiers, and Yamakaji reluctantly accepted the trade, leaving Koby as a prisoner with Blackbeard.

Yamakaji’s Personality

Yamakaji usually maintains a calm and nonchalant demeanor. However, during the Summit War of Marineford, he showed anxiety, especially while observing the intense battle.

He has a sense of admiration for his senior officers and is also protective of his colleagues. Additionally, as a Marine, he presumably upholds a strong sense of justice and follows orders diligently.

Yamakaji’s Appearance

Yamakaji is a tall and robust man with a slightly wrinkled face, a round nose, and a broad chin. He sports brown buzz-cut hair connected to a thick beard covering his entire chin. His eyes are always closed, and he usually has a cheerful smile with a cigar in his mouth.

He typically wears a dark brown double-breasted suit over a yellow dress shirt with a red polka dot pattern, paired with brown pants and shoes. Like other high-ranking Marines, he drapes his Marine coat over his shoulders and wears a standard Marine cap.

Yamakaji’s Abilities

As a vice admiral, Yamakaji commands a Buster Call alongside other vice admirals and has authority over lower-ranking Marines.
