In this episode, Law tries to avenge the death of Corazon by finishing off Doflamingo. Trebol tries to aid the beaten Doflamingo and attacks Law, but Luffy kicks him and stops him in his tracks. Doflamingo starts having flashbacks of the past, about how Law used to be his spitting image but was released from hatred by Corazon’s kindness. Law attacks Doflamingo with his Counter Shock attack, then steps back and collapses.
Luffy and Law were then surprised when they saw Doflamingo get back on his feet. He revealed that he was capable of performing minor surgery inside his body with his powers. As the warlord approaches Law, Trebol uses his Sticky Chains to get Luffy out of the way. Doflamingo was about to kill Law by stomping and crushing his skull. Fortunately, Luffy arrived on time and saved Law by countering Doflamingo’s attack with his foot.
He asked Luffy why he stopped him from killing Law, and then attacked Law again but Luffy countered it for the second time. This time, their Haoshoku Haki collided, sending tremors into their surroundings. Trebol was shocked when he came to realize that Luffy possessed it as well.
As the battle raged on, Trebol reminisced about their past and Doffy’s upbringing, stating that Luffy could never defeat Doffy as his upbringing turned him into a demon, thus the title the Heavenly Demon. Trebol remembers 31 years ago when he gave Doffy the power he desired. Doflamingo and his family were crucified by a mob for being World Nobles. His father, Donquixote Homing, begged the lynching mob to kill him and spare the lives of his children, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. Doflamingo snapped and had an outburst of anger and despair. This trauma and outburst acted as a trigger and he awakened his dormant Conqueror Haki, causing the mob to collapse and the fire beneath his family to be extinguished.
Later, Doflamingo stood before Trebol, Vergo, Diamante, and Pica, as the first of the four disclosed that he had utilized Haki and had been chosen by heaven. Trebol offered Doflamingo the chance to kill whoever he chose while handing him a gun and the Ito Ito no Mi, also known as the String-String Fruit. Doflamingo was motivated to kill everyone he could think of who had caused him pain, even his father. Later, Doflamingo used the gun to shoot and kill his father. Trebol declared Doflamingo to be the worst kind of evil present.
The battle between Luffy and Doflamingo rages on. Luffy attacks the warlord with his Armament Haki which Doflamingo countered with his own Haki. After throwing some punches around, both of their Conqueror Haki clash once again. In this instance, Doflamingo overpowered Luffy by some margin, sending him crashing through the edge of the rooftop.
