In his first appearance, Mohji was tasked by Buggy to capture Roronoa Zoro. When he encountered Luffy, he became overly enthusiastic and ordered Richie, his lion companion, to attack Luffy in an iron cage. Luffy easily broke free, and despite Richie's assault, Luffy, being a rubber man, remained unharmed.
After witnessing Chouchou bravely stand up to Richie, Luffy challenged Mohji and Richie to a duel. Using his Gomu Gomu no Hammer, Luffy defeated Richie by slamming him into the ground. Mohji escaped without his loyal lion.
Upon returning to Buggy, Mohji warned him about Luffy being a Devil Fruit user. Soon after, Luffy and his crew arrived to challenge Buggy.
After Buggy's defeat, Mohji and Cabaji fought for the leadership of the group. The battle lasted for hours until Richie, Mohji's lion, accidentally knocked them both out. Richie then took over leadership. However, Richie and the pirates were later kidnapped by the Kumate Tribe, and Buggy, Alvida, Mohji, and Cabaji had to rescue them.
Mohji took part in the attack on Loguetown, assigned to burn down the Straw Hat's ship. However, he failed when it started raining. Usopp found him and Richie, and before Mohji could act, he slipped, bumped his head, and got knocked out. After the Straw Hat pirates escaped, Mohji reunited with his crew.
Later on, Mohji is with Buggy and Cabaji in the Grand Line, exploring a cave believed to contain Captain John's treasure. Instead, they find diggers. Mohji is later seen on the ship having a party, and Ace appears after smelling the good food.
Mohji, along with Alvida and the rest of the Buggy Pirates, urges Alvida to go to Impel Down to rescue Buggy. When she refuses, they decide to proceed without her, honoring Buggy's supposed death and determined to rescue him themselves, even if it means risking their lives.
After Buggy is reunited with his crew, Mohji cries tears of joy, falsely claiming he and Cabaji never gave up on him. Later, he introduces himself to the Impel Down prisoners along with Cabaji.
After Buggy became a Seven Warlord of the Sea, Mohji and the rest of Buggy's crew were pardoned.
After Buggy became a Warlord of the Sea, the Buggy Pirates received a summons to fight against the World Pirates. Spotting Luffy and Boa Hancock battling Sebastian, Buggy ordered his crew, including Mohji, to invade the enemy ship. Witnessing Byrnndi World defeat Luffy, Buggy instructed them to help revive the Straw Hat captain.
During their encounter with Gairam and his Kyubu Kyubu no Mi Cube Booster attack, Mohji successfully avoided the attack. When the Tightrope Walking Funan Bros started crying due to Buggy's supposed encouragement for Luffy, Mohji, and Cabaji suspected something was amiss. Despite this, they decided to go along with the crew and cheer for Buggy.
When Gairam launched another attack, the crew, including Mohji, fled while Mr. 3 defended against it. Mohji was surprised when Gairam turned Buggy into a cube. Buggy hinted at a surprise attack, and Mohji and Cabaji speculated it might be the Buggy Ball, but Buggy scolded them for revealing too much. Buggy used the Muggy Ball to create a smoke cloud, allowing Hancock to defeat Gairam. Although Cabaji and Mohji had doubts about Buggy's role in the victory, they chose to go along with the cheering.
Exiting the enemy ship, the crew witnessed approaching Marine ships. Under the barrage of Marine fire, Cabaji and the crew hurriedly retreated to their ship.
After the timeskip, Mohji appears on Karai Bari Island with Buggy's crew, celebrating the defeat of Donquixote Doflamingo. However, he dampens the mood by revealing that the New Giant Warrior Pirates had left their company to join the Straw Hat Pirates.
Mohji and the rest of the Buggy Pirates serve as attendants at the Pirates Festival on Delta Island.
Following the end of the Seven Warlords of the Sea system, a Marine fleet led by Stainless confronts those on Karai Bari Island. Crocodile leads a force to destroy the Marines' ships, aiming to recruit Buggy and Buggy's Delivery into his new company, the Cross Guild.
Mohji is known for his pompous and sometimes silly demeanor. He holds a strong rivalry with Cabaji.
Mohji also has a special fondness for Richie, his pet lion, treating him better than most people and adoring him.
Mohji has a muscular torso, thick lips, and a changing hairstyle in different arcs. He wears a white fur vest, green pants (blue in the anime) with a black sash (yellow in the anime), and animal-shaped fur feet shoes.
In the Orange Town Arc, his hair is like a teddy bear; in Loguetown, he wears a pink helmet with bunny ears. During the Jaya Arc, his hair resembles a lion's mane, and in the Impel Down Arc, he looks like a ram, similar to Merry.
After the timeskip, Mohji, along with his pet Richie, gains much weight, appearing very plump. He wears a dark blue fur suit, and his hairstyle resembles a panda.
Mohji boasts the ability to control any animal, but he hasn't demonstrated this ability beyond his pet lion, Richie. Mohji prefers using Richie in battles rather than fighting directly. Despite this, he is fast, agile, and skilled with a whip.
Mohji shows deep respect, loyalty, and appreciation for his captain, Buggy. He displays genuine sadness when he believes Buggy is dead and immense joy upon Buggy's return after the Marineford War.
However, even after Buggy's accidental takeover of the Cross Guild, Mohji nonchalantly follows Crocodile and continues to party.
Mohji has great affection for his pet lion, Richie. He is greatly shocked and angered when Richie is beaten by Luffy and used as a shield by Cabaji. Richie, in turn, is loyal to Mohji and responds to his master's calls.
Mohji has a constant rivalry with Cabaji within the Buggy Pirates, each trying to prove themselves as the best in the crew. They even challenge each other for the right to succeed Buggy as captain when he goes missing.
Mohji is scared of Alvida, and to protect himself, obeys her orders.
After Luffy beats Mohji and Richie, Mohji holds a grudge against Luffy and the entire Straw Hat crew, as is the sentiment shared by the rest of the Buggy Pirates.
When Mohji attempts to tame Chouchou, the dog fights against Mohji and Richie to defend his master's old shop and even bites Mohji.
