When does Luffy use Gear 5?

Luffy is enjoying his fight with Kaido and is wondering how he is still able to stand despite being beaten by Kaido. In another part, Yamato and Zunesha tell Momonosuke that Luffy is Joy Boy.

Luffy's heartbeat is spreading around the whole castle and his crew rejoices at the fact that he is still alive. On the other hand, in the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, the Five Elders wonder if the agent they sacrificed was the right option and this makes Kaido very angry. The Elders then reveal that the World Government has been looking for the Gomu Gomu devil fruit for almost 800 years, but it somehow manages to avoid them.

This is when the real truth is revealed, that the Gomu Gomu fruit is in reality a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This devil fruit gives the user the properties of rubber in combat and it's up to the users’ imagination, but in reality, it is said that it helps strengthen their rubbery body exponentially and grants them more freedom to a God-like level, which makes this devil fruit the most powerful one out there.

As the fight continues on the rooftop, Luffy says that he can go on longer and then declares his new form 'Gear 5'. With this new form, Luffy releases a lot of Haoshoku Haki and easily knocks out many Beast Pirates before extending his enlarged hand and grabbing Kaido (who is in his dragon form) and dragging him back to the rooftop.

He then tightly wrapped his arm around him and swung him, slamming him into the surface back and forth. Kaido admits that he's happy that Luffy is still alive before firing his Bolo Breath at him. Luffy then transforms into rubber and defects the fire back at him. Kaido recovers from his attacks and Luffy gets ready to finish off his fight with Kaido once and for all.

After years of wait and anticipation, Gear 5 is at last getting animated and set to make its grand debut on August 6, 2023, leaving fans on the edge of their seats to witness the spectacle.

It is also confirmed that Luffy and Kaido’s battle will be continued in the next episode, set to air on the 13th of August.

With the awakening of his Gomu Gomu no Mi, Luffy will take his battle against Kaido to a whole new level, and use his drums of liberation and ridiculous power to bring an end to Kaido’s rule of tyranny and free Wano Country once and far all.
