Alabasta is located on Sandy Island which is a Summer Island. It is one of the largest islands to exist which contains several cities and massive rivers. As Alabasta is a very old country, there are many oasis and towns are built around them. Many of the older cities are in ruins now but there are also new ones to exist.

The cities of Alabasta are

Alubarna

Alubarna is located in the northeast part of Alabasta and is built in a plateau near an oasis. The buildings in Alubarna are inspired from the Islamic architecture like domed shaped buildings and towers. The entrance of the city is followed by five long flights of stars that are located around the city. The southern gate is the main entrance to the city. The Alubarna Palace is located in this place where the royal family lives.

Nanohana

Nanohana is located to the south of Alubarna, east of Sandora River and west of Katorea. It is like your typical desert town with Islamic type architecture and has a crowded bazaar. It is also a port town where ships can dock and load and unload cargo. This place is also the main entrance for Alabasta.

During the Utopia Operation, the majority of Nanohana was burned down and crushed by a runaway galleon that came in from the sea, this caused a huge loss to Nanohana. In the end, the citizens of Nanohana were able to repair the damages that were caused.

Yuba

Yuba is located in the middle of the western part of the Sandora Desert. It was strategically located in order to provide Alabasta with a hub that acts as a rest stop for merchants traveling through the desert. Rainbase is located at its north, Spiders Cafe to its southwest and Erumalu to its southeast.

During the Alabasta Arc, Yuba was almost ruined as Erumalu due to the increase in sandstorms hitting the place. The oasis that was built in the town also dried up due to the sandstorm. Toto started desperately digging in the middle of Yuba in search of an underground reservoir.

Rainbase

Rainbase is located to the northwest of Alabasta, with Yuba to its South and Alubarna and Sandora Rivers to its east. It's a luxurious city with a lot of casinos and restaurants. There are many stables where the horses and camels can rest.

The Rainbase lake is a very large oasis that resembles a lake that is located in the middle of Rainbase and its the place where Rain Dinners, the biggest Casino is located. Rain Dinners is the Casino that Crocodile used as his secret base in Alabasta and after he was defeated it was closed.

Katorea

Katorea is an oasis. It has a lot of coconut trees and the standard Alabastian architecture of rectangular buildings with dome roofs. Katorea is famous for its perfume. The only significant place in Katorea is the Rebel Army headquarters.

This is the place where Koza and his allies met to conspire against Cobra and the Royal Army. Their headquarters are set up in tents and are fenced in from the rest of the city.

Tamarisk

Tamarisk is a port town in Alabasta. This is where Nefertari Vivi went to see off the Straw Hats as they left the country.

Erumalu

Erumalu is an ancient city. It was known as the Green City but it is all in ruins. This city was located in a region that lacked large amounts of rain.

Alabasta is known for it's following landmarks like;

Sandora Desert

The Sandora Desert is the largest desert that makes up the majority of Alabasta that is not inhabited near oases.

Sandora River

The Sandora River is the largest river that runs through Alabasta. The river cuts down from the north to the south, which makes traveling around the company difficult.

Tomb of the Kings

The Tombs of Kings is also located to the West of the Alubarna Palace where all the people from the royal family are buried. This also has the Hidden Poneglyph of Alabasta which talks about the location of one of their Ancient Weapons, Pluton.

History

Alabasta has existed for five hundred years or longer, even before the Void Century. The royal Palace of Alubarna itself has been there for almost four thousand years. The Nefertari Royal Family is known to be one of the twenty Royal families to have founded the World Government. This Family is the only one to rule their own country, rather than moving and letting new royalty take over.

When Nico Robin read Alabasta's Poneglyph, it described the important events of the place like how Kahira conquered Alabasta, the Bitien Dynasty of Taymar beginning its rule, and the Great Taph Temple which was completed in Erumalu. This Poneglyph only talks about the location of Pluton and no specific details are expanded upon.
