The giant ship known as Thriller Bark was initially located at Florian Triangle. It was formerly an island in the West Blue, as Brook revealed. It is owned by the former Warlord Gecko Moria and is the largest pirate ship in the world. It is used by the Thriller Bark Pirates.
During the battle with the Straw Hat Pirates, the ship was severely damaged by Moria’s and Kuma’s attacks. After Moria was defeated, the ship was abandoned. The main location of the Thriller Bark arc is Thriller Bark, where the Straw Hat Pirates’ ninth trip to Paradise took place.
It appears that after the battle with Straw Hat Pirates, Moria took it and used it to get to Pirate Island.

The ship is encircled by a massive outer wall that surrounds the island, and a gate that resembles a large mouth that opens and closes. The wall and the mast atop the residence are connected by four different chains. The island is surrounded by a moat and an old, crumbling inner stone wall with towers. In the center of the island, there sits a mansion that is encircled by what appears to be a dead forest. The entire ship resembles the stock imagery from vampire or horror films like Dracula or Frankenstein.

Many shadowless victims who were trapped in Thriller Bark made the decision to hide from the light in the forest that makes up the majority of the island. Hildon found Usopp, Nami, and Chopper hiding in the woods away from the Cerberus. In this forest, Luffy also comes across the Rolling Pirates. The odd zombies that Dr. Hogback developed are also in large numbers in the forest.
This is a cemetery beyond the forest. Most of the graves in this area are occupied by Dr. Hogback’s concealed zombie creations. After Moria is defeated and Thriller Bark destroyed, a monument to the Rumbar Pirates is built there in honor of Brook’s long-dead crewmen. It was planned by Usopp and built by Franky, with flowers added by Chopper.
This is a massive mansion with Gothic-style architecture. Until Moria was defeated, Dr. Hogback lived here.
The huge tower in the center of Thriller Bark is actually the mast of the ship, and a home. This was home to Gecko Moria, and it is also the location of the enormous freezer where Oars was kept in stasis.
This place is located in Gecko Moria’s Dance Hall. Gecko Moria gave this place to Hogback in order for the latter to create his zombies.
This is a little garden with trees, plants, and flowers that is located on the bridge that connects the Mast Mansion to the Thriller Bark Mansion. The majority of Perona’s free-roaming zombies live on this bridge. Ryuma knocked out Usopp, Nami, and Chopper, who later awoke there. The bridge here was destroyed in the battle with Oars.
Perona’s room is located in the Mast Mansion. The size of this room and its princess-like furnishings are suited for Perona’s nickname, “Ghost Princess.”
Not much has been revealed about the creation of the Thriller Bark except that it is a giant ship owned by the former Warlord, Gecko Moria. Many unusual creatures live inside of it including shadowless people as well as zombies.
After Moria was defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates, the ship was abandoned leaving only the 900 bodies that were scattered over the area. What happened to them after it is unknown except for Perona, who was sent flying to a distant location by Kuma before the battle between Straw Hat Pirates and Moria concluded.
The “Mysterious Four,” together with hundreds of their zombie servants, previously lived in Thriller Bark. The forest areas are also home to several victims who formed a group, along with a few freed shadows.
The enormous ship was abandoned after Moria’s defeat and evacuation, leaving only the 900 bodies that were spread over the area. Perona left once again after coming back to collect Kumashi’s body.

Before Thriller Bark’s downfall, “Ghost Princess” Perona served as the leader of the Wild Zombies and Surprise Zombies. She was one of the Mysterious Four of the Thriller Bark Pirates.
The well-known “Genius Surgeon” Doctor Hogback joined the Thriller Bark Pirates while working under Gecko Moria and helped him build his zombie army. He was one of the Mysterious Four of the Thriller Bark Pirates.
Before Thriller Bark’s downfall, Absalom of the Graveyard served as the organization’s commander. He was one of the Mysterious Four of the Thriller Bark Pirates.
Victoria Cindry was a renowned theatrical actress who passed over twelve years after falling off the stage. Dr. Hogback was so in love with her that he kidnapped her corpse and used Gecko Moria’s powers to turn her into his own personal zombie servant.
Shimotsuki Ryuma was a legendary, well-known samurai who came from the Shimotsuki Family of Wano Country during Wano’s “Country of Gold” era.
Twenty years before the start of the series, Gecko Moria broke into Ryuma’s sacred burial in Ringo and stole both his body and sword. Eventually, Brook’s shadow brought his body to life, transforming it into a General Zombie to serve Moria on Thriller Bark.
Dr. Hogback created Lola, a General Zombie that was animated by Gecko Moria’s powers using Charlotte Lola’s shadow.
Over 500 years earlier than the current storyline, Oars the Continent-Puller was a notorious ancient giant. After he passed away, the Thriller Bark Pirates found his body and used it to make the 900th zombie in Gecko Moria’s zombie army. Oars was the only zombie who was designated as a Special Zombie.
Hildon was a stitched-up wild zombie who resembled a vampire. He seems to serve as a messenger amongst Thriller Bark’s Mysterious Four, relaying to them important events happening around the island ship just before it crashed.
Before being purified by Usopp, Kumashi was a teddy bear zombie from the Thriller Bark Pirates who served as Perona’s servant and the leader of the Wild Zombies.
Spoil is the chairman of the Thriller Bark Victim’s Association.
A crew of pirates called the Rolling Pirates were first seen in the Thriller Bark Arc. Charlotte Lola, the 23rd child of the Charlotte family, serves as their leader. After Gecko Moria stole the crew’s personal shadow, they helped Luffy defeat Moria by stuffing as many shadows as they could into him to increase his strength.
While the name Thriller Bark can simply refer to the broad genre that emphasizes suspense, tension, and excitement, it can also be a reference to the well-known Micheal Jackson song of the same name with a horror theme.
The architecture of Hogback’s home resembles the Notre Dame Cathedral.
This is the first of two pirate ships that were once islands modified to become a sea floating vessel.
Some of the zombie numbers in the anime are misplaced (For example, in the anime, Zombie 28 became Zombie 29; and the anime has a different Zombie 36 than the manga).
