Charlotte Galette’s past is shrouded in mystery. Other than the fact that she is the 18th daughter and older twin sister of Charlotte Poire, nothing else is known about her early years.
In the midst of the chaotic scene in Sweet City, Big Mom's insatiable craving for croquembouche caused her to go on a destructive rampage. Galette, along with her siblings Opera and Mont-d'Or, desperately pleaded with their mother to calm down and not harm anyone, particularly their brother Moscato.
However, Big Mom's hostility towards Moscato remained unchanged, and to everyone's horror, she used her terrifying power to snatch away his lifespan.
The citizens of Sweet City were left in shock and disbelief at the sight of Big Mom's callous act. Meanwhile, Galette took charge and ordered some soldiers to swiftly remove Moscato's lifeless body, mourning the loss of her brother.
Two days later, Galette, Opera, and Mont-d'Or witnessed the defeated Sweet Commander Cracker returning to Sweet City, his defeat at the hands of an unknown opponent evident. The siblings were appalled by the sight, realizing that Cracker had failed in his mission to confront Monkey D. Luffy in the treacherous Seducing Woods. This revelation implied that Luffy was responsible for Cracker's defeat, further escalating tensions.
With Sweet City on high alert, Galette led an army of Big Mom Pirates toward Luffy's location, ready to engage in a fierce battle. As the clash ensued, Nami unleashed a powerful lightning bolt, surprising Galette with its intensity. However, Galette quickly used her Devil Fruit ability to immobilize Nami, impressed by the Straw Hat pirate's formidable attack.
Amidst the chaos, Amande, another member of Big Mom's crew, cunningly removed a Vivre Card from Nami, causing Galette and her siblings to realize that it was the source of the Straw Hat Pirates' ability to render the homies powerless.
Their surprise deepened when they discovered that the Vivre Card belonged to Lola, a name that held significance to them. Recognizing the importance of this discovery, Galette and the army decided to return to Sweet City, bringing the captive Straw Hat Pirates along, in order to report to Big Mom. In the Prisoner Library, Galette, along with her siblings, sat on a comfortable couch, watching intently as Big Mom communicated with Luffy and Nami through a Den Den Mushi.
After Big Mom concluded her conversation with the prisoners, a member of her crew named Anglais rushed to Galette and her siblings, informing them of an intruder who had infiltrated the Room of Treasure, an important area within their territory. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Galette and her siblings prepared themselves for the imminent threat.
Later, Galette participated in a crucial meeting that focused on assessing the progress and well-being of both the Sanji Retrieval Team and the Vinsmoke Family, acknowledging the importance of their roles in the unfolding events.
As the grand Tea Party and wedding ceremony of Sanji and Charlotte Pudding commenced, Galette was among the attendees, observing and listening to Vinsmoke Niji's words during the festive occasion. However, chaos erupted when Luffy and his group instigated a commotion, causing Big Mom to unleash her powerful screams. Amidst the pandemonium, Galette shielded her ears, noticing that Big Mom had scraped her knees during the mayhem.
Continuing to protect her ears from the destructive soundwaves, Galette witnessed Capone Bege, Vito, and Gotti launching their weapons at Big Mom, only to have them obliterated by her piercing scream. In a bid to aid Galette, Katakuri provided her with mochi earplugs, allowing her some respite from the deafening noise. With the Big Mom Pirates closing in on Luffy and Bege's groups, Bege transformed into a formidable fortress to shield his allies.
Once Bege resumed his human form, Caesar Clown attempted to escape the chaotic venue with Bege in tow, while Luffy, Sanji, and the Vinsmoke Family engaged in a fierce confrontation against the Big Mom Pirates. In the heat of the battle, Galette, alongside Smoothie and Daifuku, utilized Galette's power to subdue Luffy, Sanji, and Reiju as they attempted to retreat. However, their plans were abruptly interrupted when the Tamatebako, a valuable treasure, dropped to the base of the Whole Cake Chateau and exploded, triggering the collapse of the towering castle.
As the structure began to crumble, Galette found herself plummeting from the castle's remains, desperately screaming for Katakuri's assistance. True to her plea, Katakuri swiftly intervened, saving Galette from a potentially fatal fall. Miraculously, Streusen, another powerful member of the crew, utilized his abilities to transform the collapsing castle into a delectable cake, ultimately rescuing the crew from imminent doom.
Onboard the Queen Mama Chanter, a massive ship, Galette watched as the Sun Pirates valiantly protected the Thousand Sunny, preventing the pursuing Big Mom Pirates from reaching the Straw Hat crew and ensuring their safety for the time being.
When Big Mom decided to infiltrate Wano Country, Galette joined her mother and the crew aboard the Queen Mama Chanter, as they sought to scale the towering waterfall that led into the country. Their objective was to reach Wano and join forces with Kaidou's forces.
However, their progress was abruptly halted when King, one of the Four Emperors' powerful subordinates, launched a devastating attack on their ship. The force of the assault caused the Queen Mama Chanter to plummet off the waterfall, and Big Mom was thrown into the treacherous sea below.
In the waters near Wano, Galette found herself contemplating the dire circumstances alongside the rest of her family. As they pondered their situation, Perospero brought up an important point: Big Mom's Vivre Card, a piece of her lifeforce, remained intact.
This indicated that despite her fall, Big Mom was still alive. Galette speculated that given their presence in enemy territory, it was highly likely that their mother had been captured by the forces of Wano Country.
As time passed, news reached the Big Mom Pirates about an unexpected development: Big Mom had formed a formidable alliance with Kaidou, the other Emperor ruling over Wano. This revelation added another layer of complexity to their mission and raised questions about the fate of their beloved captain.
On the day of the highly anticipated Fire Festival in Wano, the Big Mom Pirates made another audacious attempt to ascend the treacherous waterfall. However, their efforts were thwarted once again, this time by the intervention of Marco, a powerful figure associated with the pirate group known as the Whitebeard Pirates.
Marco's actions resulted in the Big Mom Pirates' ship being forcefully knocked back down, further hindering their progress in reaching Wano and reuniting with their leader.
Galette is deeply invested in the well-being and safety of her family. She demonstrated this when she pleaded with her mother not to harm her brother, Moscato, showing a genuine concern for his life and well-being. The sight of her defeated brother Cracker left her in shock, highlighting her emotional attachment and distress upon witnessing harm befall her family members.
However, Galette has been known to underestimate and underestimate others, sometimes adopting a condescending attitude towards those she perceives as weaker than herself. This was evident when she expressed surprise at Nami's ability to summon a large lightning bolt, underestimating the Straw Hat pirate's power and prowess.
Similarly to her brother Oven, Galette takes betrayals very seriously. When Praline sided with the Sun Pirates and mocked her siblings' failure to eliminate the Straw Hat Pirates, Galette's fury and anger were unleashed, reflecting her deep loyalty and the importance she places on family unity.
In moments of extreme danger, Galette's fear for her own life becomes evident. When Whole Cake Island began to crumble and she found herself falling, she was overcome with terror. It was at this vulnerable moment that her older brother Katakuri came to her rescue, saving her from a potentially fatal fall. Filled with gratitude and relief, Galette shed tears of appreciation for her sibling's intervention.
Galette possesses a fair complexion and an average stature. Her distinct appearance includes shoulder-length fuchsia hair that elegantly curls at the ends. On the right side of her face, her hair forms bangs that partially cover her features. Her eyes are a vibrant yellow shade, accentuated by notably thick eyelashes that enhance her gaze.
The most striking features of Galette's appearance are the two arrow-shaped horns protruding from the top of her head, adding an intriguing and unique aspect to her overall look. These horns contribute to her distinct visual identity.
As for her attire, Galette is often seen wearing a short dress in a vibrant shade of red-violet. The dress complements her figure and adds a touch of elegance to her appearance. She further embellishes her ensemble with a long, flowing feather coat in a deep shade of purple, adding a regal and majestic flair to her overall style.
Galette completes her outfit with magenta gloves, which provide both a stylish and practical touch.
As the Minister of Butter in Totto Land, Galette holds a position of authority and responsibility over Margarine Island, showcasing her administrative role within Big Mom's vast territory. Additionally, as an officer in the Big Mom Pirates, Galette commands respect and holds a high-ranking position, granting her authority over lower-ranking crew members.
Galette exhibits formidable strength, evident in her participation as a key member of the army dispatched to confront Nami and Luffy during their encounter. Alongside her siblings Smoothie and Daifuku, she played a crucial role in subduing Sanji, Reiju, and a weakened Luffy, showcasing her combat prowess and ability to overpower formidable opponents.
Demonstrating a strong will, Galette showcased her resilience by enduring the impact of Big Mom's Haoshoku Haki, which is known to overwhelm and render unconscious those with weaker mental fortitude. Galette managed to remain conscious despite the immense pressure from Big Mom's powerful presence and loud scream.
Galette's abilities are enhanced by her consumption of the Bata Bata no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit grants her the power to generate and manipulate butter. With this ability, she can create sticky butter that binds and immobilizes her adversaries, effectively limiting their movements and rendering them vulnerable to attack.
In the anime adaptation, Galette is depicted wielding a mounted Gatling gun aboard the Queen Mama Chanter, demonstrating her proficiency in utilizing heavy weaponry. She attempted to employ the weapon to take down King, further showcasing her versatility in combat tactics.
Not much is known about Galette’s relationship with others. However, based on her actions in the series, it can be stated that she has unwavering loyalty toward her family and the Big Mom Pirates.
In addition to the One Piece manga and its anime adaptation, Galette also makes a playable appearance in One Piece Treasure Cruise.
