Foxy’s History

Foxy, as a young man, was once a professional boxer who competed in tournaments. However, his boxing license was revoked 15 years ago after he tried to bring a weapon into the ring, leading to his disqualification from future competitions.

Two years after losing his boxing license, Foxy consumed the Noro Noro no Mi Devil Fruit, which granted him the ability to manipulate time.

Three years later, Foxy learned about the legend of Davy Jones and decided to become a pirate, utilizing the Davy Back Fight as a means to gather a crew.

Long Ring Long Land Arc

During his journey, he acquired some crew members from the Fanged Toad Pirates on Long Ring Long Land. Foxy set his sights on the Straw Hat Pirates after spotting their captain, Monkey D. Luffy, and others interacting with Tonjit, a native of the island. To catch their attention, Foxy shot Tonjit's horse, Shelly.

This act drew the Straw Hats' attention, and Foxy, accompanied by his associates Hamburg and Porche, introduced himself and revealed his true intentions. He challenged the Straw Hat Pirates to a Davy Back Fight, goading Luffy into accepting the challenge.

Following the opening ceremony of the Davy Back Fight, where Foxy paid homage to Davy Jones, he set his sights on selecting a Straw Hat crew member for himself.

The first game of the Davy Back Fight, called the Donut Race, began, and Foxy and his crew prepared to exploit any loopholes in the game. Foxy and Hamburg attempted to hinder the Straw Hats' progress with various tricks, but most of them were ineffective. However, Foxy used his Noro Noro powers at the last moment, slowing down the Straw Hats and allowing his team to win the race.

After winning the first game, Foxy explained his powers to the astonished Straw Hats and selected Tony Tony Chopper as his crew member. This choice gave the Straw Hats a handicap in the next game, as Chopper was a participant.

In the second game, where two Straw Hats faced three members of Foxy's crew known as the Groggy Monsters, Foxy decided not to use his powers. To his surprise, despite the handicap, the Straw Hats' players held their ground against the Groggy Monsters. As the game progressed, Foxy ordered the Groggy Monsters to use their deadliest technique, known as the Monster Burger, against the Straw Hats' players.

However, the Straw Hats' players managed to defeat the Groggy Monsters, much to Foxy's astonishment. After losing the second game to the Straw Hats, Foxy and his crew faced the consequence of either the Straw Hats regaining their crew member, Chopper, or having one of their own taken away. As Luffy contemplated his decision, Nami, the navigator of the Straw Hats, suggested a sly strategy to choose Foxy.

Since Foxy was the participant in the next and final game, if he was selected, the Straw Hats would instantly win the Davy Back Fight and would no longer have to participate. This suggestion played on Foxy's own tactics used in the previous game.

Upon hearing this underhanded strategy, Foxy and his crew taunted the Straw Hats, accusing them of resorting to such tricks. However, their taunting actually planted doubt in the minds of the Straw Hats, making them reconsider the strategy. Ultimately, the Straw Hats decided against it, as they didn't want someone like Foxy in their crew. Instead, Luffy chose to reclaim Chopper. Foxy's feelings were hurt by the rejection.

Determined to pay back for the humiliation, Foxy prepared himself for the final game of the Davy Back Fight, called Combat. Interestingly, the location for the final battle was "conveniently" chosen to be Foxy's own ship, the Sexy Foxy. Foxy readied himself to fight against Luffy.

The battle between Foxy and Luffy took place all over the Sexy Foxy. Foxy utilized all the tools and tricks he had on board to gain an advantage against Luffy. The fight was intense, with both fighters engaging in a fierce struggle from the top to the lower decks of the ship. The battle continued, wearing out both Foxy and Luffy as they pushed their limits.

At the climactic moment of their intense battle, both fighters found themselves pushed to their absolute limits. Foxy, determined to gain the upper hand, decided to unleash his ultimate move, the Noro Noro Beam, on Luffy. However, just as Foxy fired the beam, Luffy quickly thought on his feet and seized a mirror shard he had stumbled upon during their confrontation.

In a surprising turn of events, Luffy expertly reflected Foxy's own Noro Noro Beam back at him using the mirror shard. The effects of the beam, which slowed down time for anyone hit by it, left Foxy unable to react swiftly due to his own Devil Fruit powers. Helplessly trapped in slow motion, Foxy could not evade Luffy's devastating punch that followed.

The full force of the attack, amplified by the accumulated effects of the Noro Noro Beam, sent Foxy hurtling off his ship and into the unforgiving waters below. Submerged in the sea and unable to swim, Foxy's situation seemed dire. However, his loyal crew members acted swiftly and managed to rescue him from a potential watery grave.

Though battered and bruised, Foxy found himself relieved to have survived the aftermath of the battle. After some time had passed and both fighters had recovered to some extent, Foxy, acknowledging Luffy's strength and determination, decided to honorably congratulate him for their match.

Secretly, however, Foxy nursed a deep desire for revenge and plotted a final sneak attack on Luffy. Little did he know that Luffy's rubbery body would render his attack completely useless. Instead of striking his intended target, Foxy stumbled and fell flat on his face, much to his own embarrassment.

With the Straw Hats emerging as the victors of the Davy Back Fight's final game, Foxy and his crew anxiously awaited Luffy's decision. They presumed that Luffy, who was in search of a shipwright, would choose one from their crew. To their astonishment, Luffy opted to claim their flag instead.

While this decision initially outraged Foxy and his crew, Luffy clarified that he only intended to take the Foxy Pirates' Jolly Roger symbol and not the entire sail. This way, Foxy and his crew would still be able to embark on their pirate adventures. Moreover, Luffy promised to create a new Jolly Roger for the Foxy Pirates, ensuring they could continue sailing under their own banner.

While this gesture pleased Foxy and his crew, their spirits were dampened by the realization of Luffy's less-than-impressive artistic skills. The resulting Jolly Roger design, crafted by Luffy, left them feeling disheartened and somewhat humiliated.

Foxy's Return Arc

In an exclusive anime arc, the altered outcome of the Combat portion led to another encounter between Foxy and the Straw Hats. After a treacherous storm, Foxy and his two remaining crew members found themselves in dire straits. Fortunately, the Straw Hats came to their rescue, offering assistance and shelter aboard their ship.

It was during this reunion that a new problem came to light. While Foxy had been absent, the former captain of the Fanged Toad Pirates and his crew took advantage of the situation and attempted to usurp control of the Foxy Pirates. Determined to reclaim his crew, Foxy confronted the impostor captain, but his efforts were thwarted.

However, with the aid of the Straw Hats, Foxy received invaluable support in settling the internal dispute within his crew. Thanks to the assistance of the Straw Hats, Foxy managed to regain command of his crew. However, instead of expressing gratitude towards his rescuers, Foxy seized the moment to enact revenge on them.

In a clash against the Straw Hats, Foxy ultimately faced defeat, but the Straw Hats graciously allowed him and his crew to continue sailing.

Spa Island Arc

In a subsequent encounter on Spa Island, Foxy, accompanied only by his closest crew members, Hamburg and Porche, harbored bitterness regarding the Jolly Roger design created by Luffy. However, this time Foxy's primary objective was to collaborate with the corrupt owner of the island, Doran, in order to steal a valuable notebook from two sisters. The notebook contained their father's groundbreaking knowledge on jewel production.

Initially, Foxy and his companions seemed to gain the upper hand against Luffy and most of his crew, employing a new mecha in their schemes. Nevertheless, their actions were ultimately foiled by the combined efforts of Luffy's newest crew members, Franky and Brook. The Straw Hats emerged victorious, defeating Doran and his henchmen, which led to the dissolution of Foxy's temporary alliance with the unscrupulous island owner.

Adventure of Nebulandia

Continuing his journey through the Grand Line, Foxy encountered countless pirates and engaged them in Davy Back Fights, emerging victorious in each confrontation. However, despite his string of victories, Foxy was consistently mocked and ridiculed by others for his poorly designed Jolly Roger.

His fortune took a turn when he crossed paths with Komei, a self-proclaimed former Marine, who willingly participated in a Davy Back Fight against Foxy and ultimately lost. Impressed by Komei's abilities, Foxy invited him and his companion Dojaku to join the Foxy Pirates.

Much to Foxy's delight, Dojaku refrained from mocking him, bringing a newfound happiness to the pirate captain.

During this time, Foxy successfully ventured into the treacherous New World. With Komei's guidance, he devised a plan to lure the Straw Hat Pirates to Mushroom Island. Disguising some of his crew as women, Foxy sent the ship Sexy Foxy ashore and sent out an SOS signal, knowing that the Straw Hats would respond once Sanji caught sight of the "damsels in distress."

As expected, the Straw Hats arrived on the island, and Foxy confronted them. However, to Foxy's disappointment, Luffy had no recollection of their previous encounters, plunging Foxy into a state of despondency. Nevertheless, Foxy revealed that his crew had grown stronger with the addition of Komei and Dojaku, showcasing the upgraded features of the Sexy Foxy implemented by Dojaku.

The Davy Back Fight game commenced, and Foxy observed the first round, an Eating Contest. Annoyed by Komei's complaints about Brook's participation and his perceived undermining of Foxy's authority, Foxy's frustration grew. His concerns intensified when several participants, including Porche, Hamburg, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji, collapsed and displayed no motivation to continue after consuming the mushrooms.

Reassured by Komei that the mushrooms were safe, Foxy turned to address him once more, only to be stunned by the sight of Komei perched atop the masthead of the Sexy Foxy. Komei unveiled his true intentions, confessing that he had joined Foxy's crew solely to enact his plan of capturing the Straw Hat Pirates and that working under Foxy had been a humiliating experience. Accompanied by Dojaku, Komei trapped the competitors in a cage and hoisted them onto the Sexy Foxy, except for Luffy, who managed to escape.

Enraged by Komei's betrayal, Foxy fired a Noro Noro Beam at the Sexy Foxy in an attempt to immobilize them, but Dojaku activated a reflective covering that rebounded the beams, slowing down everyone on the beach. Komei and Dojaku successfully escaped with their prisoners, leaving behind an Eternal Pose as a clue to their whereabouts. Once freed from the effects of the Noro Noro Beam, the Straw Hat Pirates immediately formulated a plan to follow the Eternal Pose and rescue their captured comrades.

Just as they were preparing to set off, Foxy appeared and pleaded with Luffy to let him join the mission, as he was determined to free Porche and Hamburg. Luffy, showing his compassionate nature, agreed to Foxy's request, and the Foxy Pirates rallied behind their captain. However, Foxy instructed his crew to remain behind and search for the Rebound Mushroom.

To his surprise, Kansho, a new member of the Foxy Pirates, expressed his desire to assist Foxy in the rescue mission. Touched by Kansho's loyalty, Foxy granted him permission to accompany him and the Straw Hats. With heartfelt farewells exchanged between the departing crew and those remaining, Foxy, Kansho, and the Straw Hat Pirates sailed away towards their next destination.

During the voyage, Foxy and Luffy engaged in conversation, sharing their experiences since their last encounter. They discovered a common goal in the mission ahead, forging a deeper connection between them. As a gesture of friendship, Foxy offered Luffy a small trinket in the shape of his head, which Luffy enthusiastically accepted.

However, the rest of the Straw Hats politely declined the offer. Their journey brought them to a mountainous island, where they found themselves unexpectedly ambushed by a fleet of five Marine ships. Employing his Devil Fruit powers, Foxy successfully halted the incoming cannonballs, allowing the Thousand Sunny to escape unharmed.

Once the Straw Hats were safely out of harm's way, the cannonballs were set in motion, obliterating the pursuing Marine ships. Foxy, Kansho, and the Straw Hats finally arrived at Nebulandia, where they were welcomed by Komei. The island's numerous rock towers, housing Marine outposts, unleashed a barrage of cannon fire upon the pirates.

During the chaos, a strange plant ensnared Foxy, mirroring Robin's predicament. Nami, suspecting Foxy of treachery, struck him in frustration. However, Komei revealed that he had actually captured Robin. Night descended upon Nebulandia, accompanied by a peculiar seawater fog that weakened both Luffy and Foxy due to their Devil Fruit abilities.

Komei unveiled Luffy's next challenge, separating him from his crewmates. Struggling to overcome his weakened state, Luffy fought to reach his scattered comrades. Witnessing Luffy's determination, Foxy was taken aback by how far the once-cheerful pirate had been pushed. In a surprising turn of events, Kansho scooped up Foxy and carried him on his shoulders, proclaiming that they could not leave Luffy to face Komei alone.

Luffy and Nami finally reached the clearing where their captive crewmates were held, only to be ensnared by Komei in seawater, rendering Luffy helpless. Just as Komei prepared to strike, a surprising turn of events unfolded. Foxy appeared on Kansho's back, holding Komei at gunpoint and creating an opportunity for Nami to rescue Luffy.

Foxy entrusted Kansho with the task of watching over Komei while he assisted Nami in pulling Luffy out of a treacherous pitfall. Alarmed to find Luffy unresponsive, Foxy frantically administered chest compressions, successfully reviving him. However, their relief was short-lived as Luffy was immediately shot.

In a shocking twist, Foxy realized that it was Kansho who had fired the fatal shot, and Komei revealed that Kansho had been working as a traitor, waiting for the perfect moment to kill Luffy. Nami retaliated by launching a lightning bolt at Komei, but he deflected it, causing both Nami and Foxy to crash to the ground. The two were swiftly handcuffed, and the Marines reveled in their apparent triumph over the Straw Hat Pirates.

However, hope was reignited when Brook, Chopper, and the Foxy Pirates swooped in on a serpent-like creature, liberating Foxy and the Straw Hats from captivity. Foxy was handed the antidotes for Porche and Hamburg, and he eagerly attended to their recovery.

Meanwhile, Luffy, seemingly lifeless, was revealed to be unharmed thanks to the Foxy trinket that had deflected the bullet. In a state of shock, Kansho attempted to shoot Luffy again, only to have his bullet redirected. Filled with rage, Foxy pounced on his former crewmate, unleashing a flurry of powerful punches that sent Kansho soaring into a crowd of Marines.

Pointing a finger at Komei, Foxy issued a challenge, but his defiance was met with a powerful blow from Komei's fan, sending him tumbling back into the pitfall. Fortunately, Robin came to Foxy's rescue, pulling him out of the abyss. With renewed determination, Foxy was directed by Sanji to the location of Porche and Hamburg's cell.

Wasting no time, Foxy stormed into the complex, using his Noro Noro beams to immobilize any Marines in his path. Finally reaching the cell, he freed Porche and Hamburg, his joy palpable at their reunion. As Foxy and his crew prepared to make their escape, Porche and Hamburg insisted on retrieving something important.

Foxy readied himself to accompany them, while his loyal crew pledged to stand by him until the very end. After reuniting with the Straw Hats, Foxy devised a plan to aid Luffy in his battle against Komei. Utilizing his Noro Noro beams, Foxy slowed down both a cannonball fired by Komei and Komei himself.

He instructed Luffy to strike the ball multiple times, leading to a powerful impact that created a hole, draining the flooded seawater. With Komei defeated by Luffy's subsequent victory, Foxy and the Straw Hats regrouped on the Thousand Sunny, eagerly awaiting the arrival of their captain.

Returning to Mushroom Island, Foxy extended his hand in gratitude to Luffy for standing alongside him. However, the truce was abruptly shattered as Foxy fired a Noro Noro beam at Luffy. To his astonishment, Luffy remained unaffected, thanks to a clever mirage created by Nami, who had predicted Foxy's action.

Nami swiftly retaliated, delivering a series of electric shocks to Foxy, Porche, and Hamburg. As the Straw Hats bid farewell and departed, Foxy waved goodbye, although his spirits were dampened when Luffy once again called him by the wrong name. Yet, he rallied himself and addressed his crew, proclaiming that the time had come for them to embark on their own adventures. Encouraged by his crew's support, Foxy regained his determination.

One Piece: Stampede

Foxy made an appearance at the Pirates Festival, alongside his crew, in search of Gol D. Roger's treasure. During the festival, when the Marines launched an attack, Foxy found himself in a desperate situation and pleaded for assistance from the Straw Hats.

Though he attempted to impede the Marines with his abilities, Foxy was swiftly overpowered by Bastille and subsequently subjected to an electric shock from Zeus.

Foxy’s Personality

Foxy is known for his deceptive tactics and penchant for cheating in the Davy Back Fight, a contest where pirate crews compete and the winners can claim crew members from the losing team. Many of Foxy's crew members joined him after losing to him in this competition. Surprisingly, they genuinely enjoy being part of the Foxy Pirates and enthusiastically support their crewmates and captain during the Davy Back Fight.

While Foxy exudes confidence and considers himself good-looking, he is incredibly sensitive to insults or criticism. Even a single offensive word can instantly deflate him, causing him to slump to the ground with a dark cloud hovering over his head.

However, a few kind words are all it takes to lift his spirits once again. In one instance, Nami and Usopp cleverly exploited this weakness by alternating insults and compliments, rendering Foxy emotionally paralyzed and unable to assist his team in a roller race.

Foxy’s Appearance

Foxy has a distinctive appearance that resembles a fox. He is a stout man with skinny arms and legs. His unique hairstyle features two upward-pointing spikes, and he has a mouth that gives the impression of an almost cleft lip.

Foxy's triangular eyebrows are thick, and he is often seen with a wide grin. His nose, similar to Kaku and Usopp, is long and colored red.

In terms of attire, Foxy typically wears yellow-orange pants held up by suspenders. These pants have rotund buckles on the edges and are tucked into black boots with white fronts and orange strings. He also wears a light-green waist accessory with leaf-like motifs and orange laces. It resembles a belt or bermuda-like garment.

Foxy carries a short wooden sword in front of his pants, which he uses to perform his Noro Noro Beam Sword technique. Foxy adorns an elaborate necklace with circular orange and yellow pendants, including a central blue pendant with fox-like ears.

He completes his outfit with a fur-lined coat that has a large collar and notable buttons on the right side. While the coat appears purple in the anime, it is depicted as silver in the manga and related media.

Foxy’s Abilities

Foxy possesses exceptional combat skills and relies on his cunning nature to gain an advantage in battle. He is adept at utilizing his Devil Fruit powers, as well as any available weapons or tools, to enhance his cheating tactics.

In addition to his deceptive abilities, Foxy demonstrates remarkable memory and a keen sense of timekeeping. He is capable of keeping track of multiple time-slowed cannonballs and even utilizes them as platforms during his fights.

Despite his seemingly unimpressive physical appearance, Foxy surprises others with his boxing prowess. He showcases considerable power and expertise in his punches, even managing to go head-to-head with Monkey D. Luffy's formidable Gomu Gomu no Gatling technique.

Weapons

Foxy relies on various gadgets and weapons in combat. He pilots the Gorilla Puncher #13, a giant mechanical punching machine capable of fiery punches that can even burn sea monsters. He also employs the giant ball launcher called Dead Hit-kun.

Furthermore, Foxy carries boxing gloves with spikes, similar to Porchemy's, during his fight with Luffy. He wields a short wooden sword, which he skillfully combines with his Devil Fruit powers to create a formidable fighting style.

Devil Fruit

Foxy possesses the Noro Noro no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, which grants him the ability to emit unique microscopic photon particles as beams of light. When hit by these photons, anything, living or non-living, will be trapped in slow motion for 30 seconds. Notably, Foxy himself is not immune to his own power, making it a risky ability to employ.

Still from the anime.

During battles, Foxy cleverly uses this power to slow down his opponents, providing opportunities for escape or setting up devious schemes. When someone is trapped in slow motion, any hits they receive will also affect them in slow motion, inflicting multiple strikes that take effect when they return to normal speed.

His signature gesture when using his Noro Noro no Mi powers is holding his thumb, ring, and middle fingers pressed together, while the other two fingers point upwards, resembling a typical Japanese representation of a fox with hands.

Tricks and Stretagies

In addition to his Devil Fruit powers, Foxy employs various non-Devil Fruit tricks and techniques to gain an advantage over his opponents. These methods showcase his cunning and willingness to bend the rules.

Here are some of the named techniques and strategies Foxy used in the anime.

  • Mashiroshiro Daisakusen (Great Strategy Pure White): Foxy fires an arrow attached to a smoke bomb, creating a white smokescreen to obstruct his opponents' vision. This tactic was first used during the Donut Race against the Barrel Tiger.

  • Uso Shiji Daisakusen (Great Strategy Lying Signpost): Foxy places a misleading signpost on the racetrack, diverting his opponents off-course. Nami, however, quickly sees through the deception and destroys the signpost.

  • Uso Goal Daisakusen (Great Strategy Lying Goal): Foxy sets up a fake goal post on the racetrack to trick his opponents into believing they have won, causing them to stop and allowing Foxy's team to catch up. Nami sees through this ruse as well, smashing the false goal post.

  • Glove Kyoka (Glove Upgrade): Foxy enhances his boxing gloves by attaching blue spiked covers, enabling him to inflict more damage, particularly against opponents like Luffy who are immune to ordinary punches.

  • Foxy Shichihenge (Foxy Seven-Change Disguise): Foxy utilizes various disguises to deceive his opponents, aiming to set up surprise attacks. While he considers them brilliant, the disguises are often comically ineffective, fooling only individuals with little perceptiveness like Luffy.

  • Counter Fox Blow: Foxy employs a boxing glove with a bear trap designed like a fox's head attached to it, delivering a punch that combines the force of the blow with the trapping effect of the device.

  • Kuyashimagire Ipponzeoi (Overhead Throw of Revenge): As a technique employed after losing the captain fight, Foxy offers a congratulatory handshake to his opponent but instead grabs their arm and executes a powerful flip, slamming them into the ground. However, due to Luffy's rubbery abilities, Foxy ends up inadvertently injuring himself.

These techniques and tricks highlight Foxy's resourcefulness and willingness to resort to unconventional methods to gain an upper hand in battles and competitions.

Foxy’s Relationships

Crew

Foxy's crew members hold him in high regard and refer to him as "Oyabin," meaning "boss" in Japanese. They idolize him and are amazed by his techniques and tricks, always offering their support. Porche and Hamburg, in particular, are frequently seen by Foxy's side.

Porche cares deeply for her captain and cheers him up whenever he feels down, while Hamburg often finds humor in those situations.

Straw Hat Pirates

Foxy in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

When Foxy first encountered the Straw Hat Pirates, he initially looked down on them, considering them naive and ignorant despite their significantly higher bounties. His undefeated streak in Davy Back Fights fueled his overconfidence, causing him to underestimate the Straw Hats, especially their captain.

Foxy believed his cheating tactics would guarantee him victories, even against a crew with a bounty of Beli 100,000,000. However, he was soon astonished by the Straw Hats' resilience and abilities. On the other hand, the Straw Hats grew increasingly annoyed by Foxy's cheap tricks and constantly insulted him, leading him to feel overly depressed. Fortunately, his crew quickly cheered him up.

Please note that the following events described are non-canon and not considered part of the official storyline.

Although Foxy developed a grudge against the Straw Hats after losing to them in a Davy Back Fight, their subsequent encounters led to a somewhat friendlier dynamic. However, he still faced comical threats and beatings from Sanji and Nami. The Straw Hats assisted Foxy in reclaiming his ship, but instead of expressing gratitude, Foxy attempted to seek revenge but was once again defeated.

Despite this, he was allowed to continue his journey. Foxy's attempts to bring down the Straw Hats continued when he crossed paths with them at Spa Island. However, the interference of Franky and Brook, the Straw Hats' newest members, foiled his plans, leaving him genuinely angered that they had acquired more crewmates since their last encounter.
