Great Kingdom in One Piece

The Great Kingdom was mentioned by Professor Clover amidst the destruction of Ohara. He was explaining to the Five Elders that he knew why they were afraid of the events that took place during the Void Century, as this kingdom was known to have mighty power and ideals, and it would be a threat to the World government if they were ever exposed.

Later on, the Kozuki Family invented Poneglyphs and at the same time, the Great Kingdom was aware their existence was going to be wiped out so they planned on carving the Poneglyphs. They carved special messages of special significance and then scattered them in separate locations in the world and entrusted them to future generations.

After the destruction of the Great Kingdom, the World Government banned any kind of research on Poneglyphs and erased the records and pieces of evidence of the Great Kingdom.

The Poneglyphs also have information on Ancient Weapons, which are capable of mass destruction on a global scale. It is a possibility that the people of the Great Kingdom were somehow involved in the creation of those powerful weapons. This also shows how the Great Kingdom was technologically advanced.
