Gyro and his crew ultimately departed South Blue, passed through Paradise and arrived at Fish-Man Island. He and his crew were forced to join the New Fish-Man Pirates after escaping the Kraken, who was sleeping at the moment, under the same threat Hammond gave to the Straw Hats that are becoming servants or sinking before reaching the island.
Eventually, Gyro and his men discovered a window of opportunity and seized it. Gyro informed a disgruntled subordinate that they would never go back to Fish-Man Island and forget about the Mermaid Cafe. Hody Jones confronted them before they could get too far. The Fish-Man handed the pirates a complete and total defeat using just his jaws. Jones gave them life and sent them up to the surface in a bubble, instructing them to tell the surface dwellers about the Fishmen when they returned to the New World.
Gyro is a very logical man, as he realizes he has to join the New Fish-Man Pirates because he can't fight them underwater. He also understood that since he wasn't going to submit to the New Fishman Pirates, it would be better for him and his crew to leave when the chance presented itself rather than stay at Mermaid Cafe or engage in combat with the Fishmen. When they were forced to face Hody, though, his prior experience battling Fish-Men gave him a sense of confidence that he could overcome the captain of the New Fish-Man Pirates. As a result, he was completely defeated.
Gyro is a thin, average-height man with an oval, childlike face and a square nose. He has two red, prominent spots on each cheek, black hair, a mustache, a beard, and what looks like a giant four-leaf clover on top of his head. He also missing a tooth. His stomach and pectoral muscles are also very developed. He wears a bicorn around his neck that is decorated with his Jolly Roger, similar to how Luffy wears his straw hat.
He has a wide buckled belt hanging on his chest from his right shoulder, and he is dressed in a light blue captain's coat with the arms in the sleeves and the left sleeve cut off just below the elbow. His black vest is half unbuttoned. He is dressed in sandals and striped trousers that go to his calves and have several purple and white stripes at the ends. He carries a katana with him at all times. The enormous crab claw he wears in place of his left hand is his most distinctive trait and the reason for his nickname. It is metal, orange, and has spikes that protrude from the arm. His human arm is chewed off and floats next to him after being vanquished by Hody Jones, indicating that this is a weapon attachment.
Gyro is in charge of his crew as the captain. Gyro claimed that Hody Jones was not the first Fish-Man he had encountered and that he had overcome numerous dangers in Paradise. His presence on Fish-Man Island is proof of his knowledge and abilities, according to Gyro.
He is considered to be a good swordsman based on his reward because he is carrying a sword with a clover-shaped handguard charged to the right side of his waist. He was seen getting ready to fight against Jones when the Fish-Man attacked his ship, but Hody destroyed it, hence it is likely that his crab claw is also a weapon.
