One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, who dreams of becoming the greatest pirate who ever lived, inspired by his childhood hero Red-Haired Shanks. Gol D. Roger, the King of the Pirates, revealed the existence of One Piece in his final words on the execution stand. One Piece is the totality of the treasure Roger earned, of indescribable value. Inspired by his last words, many chose to lead the life of a pirate and set out to sea, embarking on the beginning of a new era, known as The Great Pirate Era.
Once he turned 17, Luffy set out to sea in search of adventure and the One Piece to become the next King of the Pirates. In his journey, Luffy overcame many hardships and made friends and foes. Luffy sails through the Grand Line with his pirate crew, known as the Straw Hat Pirates, each with their unique dreams and goals. Although they each have their individual dream, the crew share a common goal - to help fulfill Luffy’s dream of becoming the next King of the Pirates.
