Issho in One Piece

Past

Issho was born in the Grand Line. Later on in his life, he blinded himself because he saw a lot of evil in the world. Later on, he joined the Marines and was promoted to the Admiral position after just joining to fill in a vacant spot. Issho used his position to abolish the Seven Warlords of the Sea system. He even told Smoker that if it was not for the Straw Hats, the Alabasta Kingdom would have been taken over by Crocodile.

Dressrosa Arc

During the Dressrosa Arc, Issho left to investigate Doflamingo’s kingdom. When he was in Dressrosa and intervened in a battle against Doflamingo and Law, he and Doflamingo then worked together to defeat Law. When Zoro came in and tried to attack Doflamingo, Issho intervened and blocked the attack and defeated him.

When Issho told Doflamingo that he wanted to abolish the Seven Warlords of the Sea system, they fought about it but then said that he would turn a blind eye to Doflamingo’s doings for the time being. Later on he clashed with Sabo too and they realized that their goals were aligned. The last person that Issho clashes with in Dressrosa is Monkey D. Luffy. He blasted him away to a cliff and then he escorted Doflamingo to Impel Down.

Levely Arc

After coming back from Impel Down, Issho went on a journey and stumbled upon Vegapunk’s new invention which he believed could destroy the Seven Warlords of the Sea system. When the royals gathered for the Levely, Issho also went to Mary Geoise. When he was confronted by T Cone, Issho said that this is not a Marine Base and when Ryikugyu came to him with orders from Akainu to remove him, he said that he did not want to do it. Just before the Levely, Issho sent a letter to King Nefertari Cobra of the Alabasta Kingdom and had a meeting with him and Riku Doldo III.

Wano Country Arc

After the Levely, Issho and Ryukugu fought Sabo and his group. Despite them doing their best, the Revolutionaries managed to escape and they took Bartholomew Kuma with them. After the Seven Warlords of the Sea system was abolished, Issho spoke to Akinu in the middle of battle and said that he hoped that the power and balance of the world would now be in the marines’ favor. However, Akainu said that the timing was bad because of the alliance that was made between Big Mom and the Beast Pirates.

Issho is known to be a virtuous man who cares about doing the right thing and hates evil. He made himself blind so that he could see no evil. His motto is Human Justice and his goal is to protect people. It is important to prioritize human lives rather than the enemies in front of them. He cannot put an innocent’s life in danger and will keep them from harm’s way at all times. He wants to remove all evil and also the corruption in the World Government and Marines. He believed that if he ended the Seven Warlords of the Sea system then it would stop all piracy and evil despite the fact that it could be a threat to the balance of the Three Great Powers. He is willing to accept the consequences.

Issho is pragmatic and aligns himself with people he is against so that he can protect innocent lives. He does not hesitate to pinpoint and work against the evil in the Marines and the World Government and does not hesitate to acknowledge the good things that are done by pirates, like the time he told Smoker that if it was not for the Straw Hats, the Alabasta Kingdom would have been taken over by Crocodile. Even though he likes to prevent collateral damage, Issho uses a lot of force against his enemies.

It might come out as a surprise but Issho likes to gamble and play at casinos. His obsession with gambling is at such a point that he treats life in the same way. He is humble to talk to and other than that, his behavior is just like a common blind man’s behavior. He is also prideful when it comes to following his morals and he refuses to apologize for his actions. He is also very trusting and will accept anyone’s answer. He is willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and does the same for some pirates.

Issho is a blind man and is seen keeping his eyes closed. He has an X-shaped scar on the left side of his forehead that stretches over both eyes which was self-inflicted. He has short dark hair with a mustache and a beard. He is also very tall. Issho wears his Marine coat like a cape which has sleeve cuffs that are purple. He wears a light purple yukata with a dark purple belt under a purple cloak. He uses a shikomizue that acts like a cane that he uses to navigate and wears geta sandals. He also has white bandages wrapped around his forearms.

Admiral Issho has thousands of Marines under him and has the authority of calling in a Buster Call if he thinks that an island is a threat. Issho thinks that the World Government is the World’s Greatest Military Force which makes him one of the most powerful people. Despite being blind, Issho’s other senses are heightened and he can handle himself in battles against powerful enemies. He also has great hearing and can hear things from miles away and he also claims that he can sense the movement of clouds.

Issho has immense physical strength and is able to defend against powerful attacks. He has great endurance and was not affected by Doflamingo’s kicks. He has great reflexes and combined with his Kenbunshoku Haki, he will be unstoppable. His movement speed is impressive too. Issho also has great sword skills and when he combines it with his devil fruit powers. Despite being blind, he is very skilled with his blade and can block incoming attacks easily.

Devil Fruit

The Zushi Zushi no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit allows its user to create and manipulate gravitational forces. The range of this fruit is huge as it can even pull down meteors from outer space. As the user can move in a precise way, they're also granted telekinesis. If they force things against gravity, they can fly or levitate. They can also manipulate different gravity fields simultaneously. We can see Ishho create gravitational forces of various intensities, directions, and purposes, especially for combat. He also uses his sword along with his devil fruit powers. During battles, Issho can be seen pushing his enemies against the ground with extreme gravitational pressure. He also can summon meteors from the sky and attack his opponents.

Issho is also able to reverse the flow of gravity and can create an attack repelling field around him. He can also levitate objects and fly around by defying gravity itself. He also uses tiny objects and makes them float, using them as ammunition and launching them at his enemies. Ishho doesn't need to physically touch his target and can use his powers on living as well as non living beings. Even though this devil fruit is strong, it has a weakness; that is, the person or object is able to resist gravity if they're strong enough and can maintain their current location.

The techniques used by Issho are:

Gravito

This is Ishho's signature technique. In this technique, Issho can manipulate gravitational forces by channeling his devil fruit ability through his sword, and the gravitational forces travel through his sword. The direction of the gravitational force can be any direction.

Moko

In this technique, Issho generates immense levels of gravitational forces around him that push out horizontally which will remove anything that comes in his path, whatever is within the attack radius. It can knock down huge buildings, enemies, trees etc.

Jigoku Tabi

In this technique, Issho slices through a large group of enemies over a wide area and then sheaths his sword with a downward gravitational force and sends down huge craters.

Abare Himatsuri

In this technique, Issho stands on a piece of rock and levitates it into the air, flies across on it, and sends a storm of meteorites on the field.

Haki

Issho can use two types of Haki:

Busoshoku Haki

Issho is really skilled in using Busoshoku Haki and was able to fight Sabo one on one. He can focus his haki into his sword and can make it black in color and strong enough to defend against Doflamingo.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Issho is a master of Kenbunshoku Haki which he uses so that he can compensate for his blindness and this gives him a sense of danger. He can accurately see attacks from enemies and can handle them with ease. He is also capable of seeing people around him with his ‘mind’s eye’ and can even read and hear thoughts and emotions of people.

Weapons

Issho is seen using a Meito, which is a shikomizue i.e, a katana contained in a cane and he also uses it as a walking stick.

Marines

Fujitora is highly regarded within the organization as a Marine Admiral. Vice-Admirals Bastille and Maynard hold high regard for Fujitora because of his sympathy for his subordinates. Fujitora chose to use his gravity skills to restrain many Marines instead of employing fatal force to stop them after they were under Doflamingo's Parasite technique. Fujitora's decision to kneel before King Riku to apologize for the World Government's incompetence led his Marines to say a lot about him.

Akainu

Fleet Admiral Akainu has faith in Issho. Issho even got an apology from Akainu, when Akainu told him about Donquixote Doflamingo's fake resignation from the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Issho apologized on behalf of the Marines in front of the entire world and revealed that the Straw Hat Pirates defeated Doflamingo, which made Akainu angry. He threatened to ensure that no Marine base would let Issho enter until Luffy and Law were killed and demanded that Issho carry out his duty.

Smoker

Smoker and Issho appear to be close friends and both hold the same views regarding the need to end the Seven Warlords of the Sea system. Smoker and Tashigi commended Issho for not allowing the situation with Doflamingo in Dressrosa to be covered up, as it had been with Crocodile in Alabasta.

Sengoku

Sengoku and Issho appear to get along well with one another. Sengoku admits that he is aware that Issho allowed Luffy and Law to escape on purpose and defeated the pirates threatening them. He decides not to report it and thinks Akainu would accept an apology from him.

Aramaki

Despite not having the same view of justice, Issho and Aramaki seem to get along well because Ryokugyu disobeyed Sakazuki's orders to expel Fujitora from Mary Geoise and instead engaged in a friendly conversation with him. Aramaki, on the other hand, does regard the World Nobles as gods and is more than willing to go to any lengths to accomplish his goal, just like Akainu.

World Government

Despite the fact that he is an official representative of the government, Fujitora hates the World Government and its policies. This became clear during Doflamingo's Birdcage game when Fujitora observed how the government continues to disregard the citizen's requests when they are actually in trouble and that if he, a Marine admiral, arrests Doflamingo, the government might cover the incident as they did in Arabasta. Fujitora bowed before Riku Doldo III and apologized on behalf of the government because he didn't want them to try to cover it up again as they had in the past. This deed rendered Fujitora's admiralty in danger and enraged the Five Elders and Fleet Admiral Akainu.

Seven Warlords of the Sea

Fujitora believed the Seven Warlords of the Sea were nothing more than pirates who could not be trusted and he wanted to get rid of the Seven Warlords of the Sea's system, which came to come to pass after conspiring with kings Riku Doldo III of Dressrosa and Nefertari Cobra of Arabasta.

Monkey D. Luffy

Issho was forced to battle Luffy since he put the protection of the civilians before the capture of the pirates, but he was willing to thank Luffy for his assistance with the criminals. He promptly dealt with some of Doflamingo's henchmen after realizing they were deceiving him. Despite the fact that they were rivals, Luffy saved Issho when Doflamingo's men were taking advantage of him since he was blind; Issho even thanked Luffy for his generosity.

Donquixote Doflamingo

Despite having been sent to assist him, Issho had a very low opinion of Doflamingo due to rumors of his illegal actions, which led to Issho's desire to abolish the Seven Warlords of the Sea system. He made it clear to Doflamingo that his assistance was not intended to aid the Warlords of the Sea, but rather to defend Dressrosa, mainly its citizens, from Luffy and Law.

Revolutionaries

Even though Issho is against the Revolutionary Army, he admits to Sabo that the Marines cannot stop Doflamingo and leaves the defeat of the Heavenly Demon to the pirates. When Sabo said that he never wanted to let another one of his brothers die again during their conversation about Luffy being his brother, Issho hesitated for a while before respectfully responding, demonstrating empathy for the young man's suffering and desire to protect those who were closest to him.

Riku Doldo III

Issho highly respects King Riku. After Doflamingo was defeated, Issho warned him not to take the blame and bowed down to make amends for the World Government for allowing an evil pirate to emerge to become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and gain control of Dressrosa. Riku told Issho to keep his head up until he learned why he couldn't attack Doflamingo at the palace. At the Levely it is seen that they have kept up their good relations.

Nefertari Cobra

Issho holds King Cobra in high regard because the latter requested a private discussion with him, Riku Doldo III of Dressrosa, and the admiral himself.

• In One Piece Premier Show 2016, Issho assisted Wilder in capturing the Straw Hat Pirates, but he failed to keep them imprisoned after a group of Newkama came to Sanji's rescue.

• In One Piece Premier Show 2014, Issho traveled to Madagascar Island to pursue the Straw Hat Pirates. He crossed paths and clashed with Smash but agreed to let the former Marine continue enforcing justice as long as the island's people were not hurt in the process.

• Issho appeared in The Great Treasure of Tongari Island and clashed with Zoro.

• An image of Issho appears in the first One Piece Water Spectacle show.
