Jaya Island in One Piece

Jaya is a spring island in Paradise and it was formerly considerably larger and formed like a skull. 400 years ago, it served as the Shandians’ ancestral land and now it is regarded as a pirate-friendly lawless area.

It serves as the primary backdrop for the Jaya Arc and is canonically the fifth location the Straw Hat Pirates visited on the Grand Line.

History of Jaya Island

The island was virtually forgotten by the World Government after the Void Century. The few sailors who did arrive on the island were either driven out or killed by the Shandia, the local Jayans.

Before they were released into the sky 400 years ago, the Shandia, who dominated the island, guarded the Poneglyph that was located in their city of gold. With the exception of Mock Town, the island is currently largely deserted. The island serves as a main base for pirates as a result of the absence of Marine presence.

Geography of Jaya Island

The majority of Jaya is made up of tropical rainforests where enormous insects and the elusive South Birds live. The island itself is shaped like a rough “U.”

Jaya now only geographically occupies half of the island that it did 400 years ago. The modern Jaya only has the “jaws” of the original Jaya, which was shaped like a skull. Only the portion that made up the skull’s mouth was left after more than half of it was propelled into the White-White Sea by the Knock Up Stream (which was made possible by seismic activity fracturing the island’s crust). The Shandian civilization once resided in Jaya, but they and their legendary city were destroyed alongside Upper Yard.

The Knock Up Stream, a recurring occurrence close to Jaya, is characterized by a massive eruption of water that soars into the sky. One can go to the Sky Island from the ocean by lining this eruption with the Imperial Cumulus, the cloud where Skypiea is located. This is the most difficult and hazardous way to get to Skypiea.

Also, the Saruyama Alliance had created a few regions near Jaya where they had once carried out underwater research in quest of ruins, artifacts or anything else that would have provided evidence of Shandora’s existence.

The Straw Hat crew left in less than two days, therefore the magnetic field of Skypiea was still locked into their log stance even though the Log Pose will shift after four days.

Locations of Jaya Island

Mock Town

The only city in the whole Jaya region is Mock Town. Despite having a resort-like appearance, it is thought of as a lawless village where different types of pirates gather, out of the reach of the Marines or the World Government.

Mouth Bay

The stretch of water that links Jaya Island’s two extremes is known as Mouth Bay. The Shoujou Pirates, led by Shoujou of the Saruyama Alliance, are considered to be controlling this region. Mont Blanc Cricket was sought after by the Straw Hat Pirates, who navigated via this bay.

South Bay

The tropical forest known as South Grave is located southeast of Jaya. It is home to enormous insects and South Birds, who can manipulate the former to keep out intruders from the jungle.

Cricket brought the Straw Hats here to catch a South Bird so they could use it as a regular compass within the Grand Line and the Knock Up Stream the following day.

Cricket’s House

On Jaya’s eastern coast, Mont Blanc Cricket lives in a little brick house. However, the other half of the home, which was launched up in the sky with the rest of Upper Yard, left this one with only half of its original structure.

As a result, Cricket filled the missing portion with plywood that looked like a massive castle in order to create a convincing illusion for onlookers looking in from the water.

The residence served as the Saruyama Alliance’s main operating location when they were on Jaya.

Upper Yard

Jaya is no longer complete because of this missing portion since Upper Yard was shot up into Skypiea some 400 years ago.

Inhabitants of Jaya Island

Terry

Terry is a bartender in Pub and Pies. His name isn’t mentioned in the manga, however, the databooks have his name.

Spector

Spector is the owner of Tropical Hotel.

Jobo

Jobo is one of the locals of Mock Town.

Mont Blanc Cricket

Mont Blanc Cricket lives in Jaya and has a little house hidden behind a castle facade. He is the “Last Boss” of the Saruyama Alliance and a distant descendant of Mont Blanc Noland.
