Maynard used the identity "Capman" to enter the Corrida Colosseum competition as fighter No. 429. He was found by Gambia while giving his colleagues the names of competitors. The vice admiral pummelled Gambia while the pirate questioned Maynard about what he was doing, hung up his Den Den Mushi, and then abruptly left the pirate in the trash room. He contacted his colleague again while he was washing his hands, telling him to strike out Gambia's name because he was mistaken about him and there was no need to be concerned.
He was then defeated by Bartolomeo shortly before B Block started and, similar to how he had treated Gambia previously, was placed inside the garbage room. Vice Admiral Bastille attempted to contact Maynard afterward but was unable to do so. Maynard departed the Colosseum and informed his colleagues when Donquixote Doflamingo imprisoned Dressrosa in his "Birdcage". Maynard informed Bastille and Issho about his discovery of Doflamingo's link to the underworld after receiving an explanation from Bastille.
Maynard suggested to Issho that now would be the ideal opportunity to detain Doflamingo, but Issho retorted that it was not for the World Government to act as the almighty in the wake of the enraged cries of the populace, and he gave the vice admiral instructions to keep carrying out his orders. To prevent the Straw Hat Pirates from reaching Doflamingo, Maynard, Issho, and a large contingent of Marines were later posted at the base of the new King's Plateau. The Marines were confronted by Sabo as Monkey D. Luffy and his Colosseum comrades were rushing up the new King's Plateau.
Maynard traveled to the North West Town Primula and led the Marines in managing the mayhem and subduing pirates plundering the city as Issho engaged in combat with Sabo. Maynard reported what had happened in Dressrosa to the three nations that were next to it after the Donquixote Pirates were defeated. Following confirmation of the signal, Maynard gave the order for a Marine to accompany Issho with the Visual Den Den Mushi, which captured and transmitted the admiral's bowing and heartfelt apologies to Riku Doldo III and the people of Dressrosa.
Issho chose not to arrest Luffy and Trafalgar Law for the time being later that evening after rolling the dice. Maynard disagreed with this choice, but Issho just instructed him to be quiet. The Marines gathered three days after Doflamingo was vanquished to go for Luffy and his companions. Maynard sent his warriors to catch Luffy when he learned that Rebecca had been taken from the palace, but they all fell as a result of using their strength to treat the injured bystanders.
Maynard was one of the Vice Admirals sent to Delta Island as part of the Buster Call mission, and he later engaged in land-based pirate combat.
Maynard has a strong sense of justice because he is a Marine. After leaving the Colosseum, he planned to make Doflamingo's crimes known to the whole world. Whether he believes in moral justice or absolute justice is uncertain.
Maynard has black hair that is pulled back in a crazy ponytail and hangs out to one side. He is a strong, broad-chested man. He also has a mustache and a black beard. He wears a dark red helmet, a studded belt, briefs, a studded band holding a knife on his left thigh, and sandals that fall just past his knees and are studded along the front. He has sunglasses hidden behind his cap. He wears the standard Marine coat with "Justice" on the back after leaving the Colosseum. In contrast to the white hats used by the majority of Marines, his headgear is distinctive and has the word MARINE across the front.
Vice Admiral Maynard is in charge of an adequate amount of Marines who are below him in the ranks. Additionally, he could be required to serve as one of the five vice admirals in charge of a fleet of 10 battleships during a Buster Call. He had the strength to effortlessly fight the pirate Gambia.
Maynard is also capable of using Haki.
Maynard always has a knife strapped to his left leg.
Vice Admiral Bastille reprimanded Maynard for disobeying orders to go undercover in the Colosseum. Later, he was taken aback by Admiral Fujitora's choice to disregard Doflamingo's actions.
Maynard attacks pirates without hesitation since, as a Marine, he is their enemy.
The pirate confronted Maynard after overhearing him speaking to the Marines over a Den Den Mushi. He was easily overcome by Maynard, who then dumped his lifeless body in a nearby room.
The pirate challenged Maynard as revenge for his subordinate after learning that Maynard was responsible for the attack on Gambia. After easily defeating the Marine, Bartolomeo left his lifeless body in a chamber.
