At some point in the past, Caribou consumed the Numa Numa no Mi (Swamp-Swamp) Devil Fruit. The appearance of this fruit has not been revealed.
Caribou can use the Numa Numa no Mi to create bottomless swamps that are impossible to escape from. If someone is caught in Caribou’s swamp, they will sink faster if they struggle.
He can store a limitless amount of everything he has captured inside his body in the swamp, which also functions as a storage place. He mentions having a month’s worth of rations stored within himself, so the storage area can also be used to aid transport surplus food that remains edible over lengthy periods of time. He can keep multiple weapons within himself and bring them out whenever needed. While he may keep things alive in his swamp, he can also use it to drown his opponents if he wants to.
Caribou, like most other Logia users, cannot be hit or sliced because his element is intangible, and any strikes will be absorbed harmlessly into his body. Caribou cannot let the attacks pass through his body; instead, they are absorbed. The vicious liquid produced by the fruit’s power is mud, a half-water, half-earth element found around bogs.
The main drawback of this fruit is that if the person is stuck in a space that their normal body cannot fit in, they cannot transform back into their normal form. Because of this flaw, Caribou was easily captured and sealed in a barrel. Also, other than “drowning” opponents into the swamp, this fruit has yet to display offensive powers. Additionally, because his mud is simply dirt mixed with water, he is vulnerable to anyone who can manipulate water, such as the fishmen. Apart from this, the user is vulnerable to the standard Devil Fruit flaws.
Caribou’s Devil Fruit abilities allow him to generate bottomless swamps by transforming his lower torso into a swamp. He can capture living beings using this transformation. He may expand his body to increase surface area and wrap around the subject in question to drag them in faster. His “bottomless” swamp also serves as a storage facility. In fact, his fighting technique consists of many weapons, such as Gatling guns and scythes, within his body. He can also store humans inside his body for stealth.
Caribou may use it to suffocate his opponents by encasing their heads in a swamp sphere. Caribou, like other Logia users, can dodge (or absorb) attacks by transforming his body into the associated element, in this case, swamp. However, his over-dependability on this defense, which he mistakenly thought was indestructible, resulted in him having little natural defensive capability when his ability was decreased by attacks imbued with Bososhoku Haki.
Caribou gains remarkable stealth abilities by remaining in his mobile swamp, allowing him to sneak away or approach unobserved and eavesdrop on discussions, by staying hidden in hard to see spots to listen in on conversations. He may also eavesdrop by extending sections of his body, such as his ear. This power also helped him in his kidnapping spree, either by laying a trap on the ground to swallow the mermaids or simply absorbing them directly into his body when he met them if he didn’t have the element of surprise on his side.
Caribou has demonstrated the following technique using his Devil Fruit powers:
Caribou pulls a gigantic Gatling gun with a crank mechanism from his “bottomless” swamp gut and shoots his opponents with it.
