The Ruins Zone is a wooden area on an unnamed island that Popora inhabits. It is a place where the Straw Hat Pirates arrive in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure video game.
Name | Ruins Zone |
Debut | One Piece: Unlimited Adventure |
Region | Paradise |
Ruins Zone is a temperate, cooler region that has thin forests with falling leaves, giving it an autumn vibe. The ground is covered in multicolored leaves and there is also a stream at the zone’s entrance with ponds scattered around. Ruins Zone is the home to many ancient structures like archways, buildings, pillars, etc. There are also ancient drawings that are drawn into the walls of the altar. The Ruins Zone connects to the Plain Zone, Seaside Zone, and Cave Zone.
When the Straw Hats enter the Ruins Zone from the Plain Zone, they walk along the creek. Popora stood above them on a bridge and then jumped down to attack. As he swung his hammer, Zoro blocked him with his swords and an orc appeared and showed them the memories of Popora. Zoro managed to deflect him and then continued. He then found the Thousand Sunny sitting on top of a hill and Usopp trying to get the crew to board it and leave the island, but Nami wanted to look for the island’s treasure.
The crew came upon a sunken area that was full of water. Luffy activated the orb and a huge ball of fire appeared in the air which caused all the water to evaporate. This revealed a platform and the next seal and when Nami approached it, Popora charged at her. He missed hitting her, then Sanji arrived and started fighting them. Amidst this, the orb showed the group Popora’s memories of fighting the pirates who had invaded the island and Franky trying to stop the Puffing Tom. The crew finally defeated Popora and the orb absorbed the seal’s energy. Franky wanted to talk to Popora but he ran off before Franky could approach him.
As Luffy and his crew went deeper into the Ruins, they found another altar that was surrounded by swirling flames. Luffy activated the orb and springs of water burst open which toned down the fire. Once they were inside, Robin noticed ancient markings that were on the wall. When she deciphered then, it was revealed that breaking all of the seals would cause the orb to give shape to the desires of the person who breaks it but it would also release great evil upon the world. The crew also learned that the seals were present to keep a monster trapped.
Popora appeared again and went in Usopp’s direction and knocked him over. The memories of the island’s civilization that was burnt down to the ground by Evil Guardian and Enel create a ruckus on Skypiea. The seal had an apparition of a tyrant that the crew had to fight. The orb absorbed the seal’s energy, which caused the third of the six seals on the Abyss Zone’s entrance to break. That is when Robin and the crew realized that Popora was trying to protect the Evil Guardian from being released.
All of a sudden, a monster appeared out of the black vortex that formed in the ground. The Sword Soldier charged at Usopp and Popora jumped in to fight it. After a long fight, Popora was able to grab the Sword Soldier by its head and pulled him back into the vortex below them. Nami then said that the crew should leave and the crew left the Ruins Zone and returned to their camp.
Ruins Zone had oil stained frogs, honey bees, swallowtail butterflies, hidden black-winged swallowtails, doze evil eye butterflies, hercules beetles, fire beetles, lovely angels, scissor shrimp, autumn leaves salmon, and devil bonito.
The Ruins Zone was one of two of Unlimited Adventure's areas shown off in their early build stages, along with the Plain Zone. In its early stages, it lacked its autumn season theme, and the ruins themselves were turquoise instead of brown. This early build was the setting for the game's E3 2006 demo.
