Mont Blanc Noland was an admiral in the Lvneel Kingdom and he made many trips to the Grand Line. He was the one who had discovered a city of gold in Jaya.

Four hundred years ago, Mont Blanc Noland, a famous explorer from the Lvneel Kingdom, set off on an expedition to the Grand Line. When he was traveling, he landed on Jaya Island and met Shandia. He saved their lives from the plague that had infested them and earned their friendship and gratitude.
He also got to visit Shandora, the city of gold, but he and his crew refrained from taking the gold due to a misunderstanding regarding a local disease and also out of respect for Jaya’s natives. When Noland returned back to the Lvneel Kingdom, he told the king about his venture in Jaya and discovering the Shandora and the king was very interested in this.
When Noland was leaving for his next expedition, King Aruyutayan V sent his soldiers to accompany him instead of his usual crew. The journey was turbulent due to the inexperience of the soldiers in sailing. Noland was not aware that half of Jaya island had been shot up to the sky by the Knock Up Stream a year before he arrived and only an empty forested area of the island was left behind.
As they found nothing there, King Aruyutayan accused Nolan of having deceived him. When they all returned to the Lvneel Kingdom, the king ordered Noland to be executed in public for lying to him. They even arranged a false witness to testify against Nolan, and his crew members tried to interfere with the execution but were suppressed by the royal army.
Before dying, Noland still insisted that Shandora existed and was sad about his Shandia friend vanishing suddenly.
After his execution, there was a children’s book that came out to make Noland look more like a buffoon and the Lvneel King look like a hero. Due to the popularity of the book, the Mont Blanc family had one descendant setting off on an adventure of their own in order to show that Noland was not wrong.
Because of what Mont Blanc Noland had done, his family and descendants were mocked and hates as they were related to him and they were forced out of Lvneel. Years later, Mony Blanc Cricket became a pirate to escape the shame. When he arrived in Jaya, he chose to confront his family’s legacy which made his crew abandon him.
Masira and Shoujou who were fans of Noland came to help Cricket, even though he was reluctant at first but eventually accepted their help. After the Straw Hats confirmed that the City of Gold that was mentioned in the book was real. Even though the book was unaffected by this discovery, Cricket found peace with Noland’s legacy to continue his dream, he did know that the last story in the book was fake.
The Dwarved in the Tontatta Kingdom honored Noland as their great hero for his actions 400 years ago. Usopp says that he is Noland’s descendant to save him and Robin in Tontatta Kingdom.
Noland was known to be a grinning idiot who went on long expeditions and return with stories which are unbelievable. Noland pushed his luck when he was bragging about the City of Gold which cost him his life. He was an honest and good man who was brave and cared about people despite what people remember him as.
He was a happy-go-lucky guy with a strong determination and was friendly. He used to act without talking to people, even though he thought that what he was doing was the best for people. He did not hesitate to risk his life to save Mousse and took it as his duty as an explorer and a researcher to remove the curse which the people of Old Jaya were affected.
He was really sad when he got to known that the trees he had cut down to save people was actually Jaya island’s sacred tree and told his crew to leave all the gold behind as a compensation for what he had done.
Noland had brown hair and the large chestnut on his head is his most distinctive feature. This feature was passed down to his coming generations. He was well built and wore a high-collared black coat with a belt and an orange acarf. He had tanned skin with a roundish nose and a pleasant looking face.
He wore blue and white striped pants with shoes. He used to have an orange sash with medal looking pendants. He carries his sword with a chestnut shaped handguard and orange and a white hilt on his left hip in an orange scabbard with a green band. He has a large cross-shaped scar on the left side of his chest.
Noland was a really good Captain and a seaman who had the respect of his crew. He was also a botanist and a skilled doctor. He was really intelligent and resourceful ans he could see through the core of things and take action in order to do what is right. He is really strong in combat both bare handed and a sword, in which he is a master.
He was able to single-handedly killed a Sea King in order to feed his crew. This says a lot about his physical strength. He also has great endurance and a very skilled diver. He can dive to depths of the ocean for long amounts of time.
He could even fight underwater and would dive in to fight giant monsters all the time. He also has exceptional hearing and is able to pick up faint sound of Shandora’s bell in the middle of a storm.
Noland's crew looked up to him and described him as an honest, amazing, and beloved man who was the greatest of his kind, even though some may have truly thought he tried to abandon ship when issues came. They were the only ones who truly believed him at the time of his execution and begged the king to release him because they had such high regard for him and had been there with him.
While he loves the crew deeply, he occasionally ignores signs of issues because he is too busy studying flora.
Noland and Kalgara had a close relationship and had a lot of respect for one another. When Kalgara was with Noland, it was seen that he looked much happier and lost his severe, bitter attitude. He hoped to meet Kalgara again after becoming good friends with him, and he had always had dreams of going back to his island.
Sadly, Noland was a victim of things beyond his control, and he would never live to see this. Despite this, he died bravely, wishing his friend well.
Noland and Kalgara won over Nola during their brief stay in Jaya.
Unlike the majority of the world, the Tontatta Tribe of the Tontatta Kingdom views Mont Blanc Noland as a hero for saving the dwarfs 400 years ago. Noland helped the dwarves by defending their territories from the "bad humans" who were destroying them. The dwarves created a statue in Noland's honour since they regarded him as a hero for what he did.
To protect himself and Robin, Usopp, pretended to be a Noland descendant named Usoland 400 years later. Because of their trust, the dwarves accepted Usopp's deception and saw him as a hero as a result, showing that Noland is still honoured by the dwarves even 400 years after his death.
As Noland had a wife and child he said that he was not able to marry Kalgara's daughter. However, after his death, his family suffered social rejection, which forced them to fight his legacy for the rest of time.
During Noland's time, Aruyutayan V was the king of Lvneel. Aruyutayan appeared to appreciate Noland as a famous national explorer, just like the rest of the nation. When they returned to Lvneel after a difficult journey with Noland and found nothing there, he angrily accused him of lying to him and ordered his execution.
He even set up fake witnesses to further humiliate and shame him. In addition to ordering Noland's execution, Aruyutayan also had a book written about the events of that journey that exaggerated his own accomplishments while portraying Noland as a liar and clown.
Mont Blanc Noland has not only appeared in the anime but also was featured in the One Piece Full Color R Gashapon series.
"Sacrifices this... Lives that?! IT'S INSANE! How does that make your Gods happy?! These ceremonies are flat-out denials of the triumphs of all great men before us! I WON'T STAND FOR IT! You insult every adventurer and researcher who's ever set out to sea in the hopes of bringing prosperity for mankind! HOW SHAMEFUL! If your "Gods" value your lives, wouldn't they have contempt for these very ceremonies?!"
The admiral doesn't hate gods or the dead people but he has always known what is more important.
