Who is Yamato in One Piece?

Yamato's birth location is unknown but when she was eight years old, she witnessed Kozuki Oden's execution, and from that day she developed an admiration for him. She even went to Kuri castle to save the Kozuki family but before she could reach there, her father Kaido had reached there and already burnt it down.

Since the day she found Oden's logbook, she wanted to become just like him and wanted to carry out his dream but when Kaido came to hear about this, he beat her up and had her chained up.

To stop Yamato from rebelling, Kaido imprisoned her in a cave for a month and had a powerful samurai guard it. Even though Kaido only gave food for the guards, they were very sweet enough to sneak it as food for Yamato to eat. They even cut her chains and read from Oden's logbook together as if they were Oden's friends too.

Soon later Ace and his crew landed in Wano city in order to kill Kaido. Yamato met Ace and they had a battle together and during the battle she expressed her desire to get away from Kaido and Ace encouraged her to do so. When night came, Ace and Yamato spoke and she expressed her regret of not being able to be a pirate and go out to sea due to her being in handcuffs.

She then asked Ace about any rookie Pirates who are gradually becoming famous and he mentions his brother Luffy, who still wouldn't sail for a few years but when he does he'll be the toughest of them all. Ace told her about Luffy's dream of becoming the King of the Pirates and told her not to laugh about it.

The next day when Ace was leaving, Yamato gave her a Vivre card so that they could meet again, later on she learned that Ace got killed in the Marineford war. She also learnt a lot about Luffy and how he was gaining fame as a pirate like how Ace had said. From that day onwards she waited for the day that she would meet Luffy and for the new generation to arrive in the New World and defeat Kaido.

Yamato had immense physical strength and was able to wield a large and heavy kanabo and could even knock out Ulti with a single blow. She also matched up to Luffy's physical strength and can easily carry around Luffy in one of them. She is also able to shatter extremely tough and hard Armor and weaponry too.

She also is quite fast and agile and can easily outrun anyone without anyone seeing her. She also has immense amount of durability and endurance and when was fighting against Kaido, she could withstand his attacks and continue fighting.

Devil Fruit

Yamato ate the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami Devil fruit which grants the user the ability to turn into a divine wolf as well as a human-divine will hybrid. This devil fruit boosts Yamato's physical abilities and thus helps her in her fight against Kaido. As the wolf is a carnivorous animal it even gives Yamato heightened predatory skills and even gives her fangs and claws for combat purposes. She can even generate ice and can augment weapons to create protection by making ice armor and can even release ice breaths.

Haki

Yamato was one of the few people who could use all three types of haki. She knew how to use the Hoashoku Haki, which allows the users to exert their will power on others. Not only that, Yamato knows to infuse it in her kanabo with the Hoashoku Haki to increase her attack power.

She can also use the Busoshoku Haki, which allows users to use their spiritual energy to create invisible armor around themselves to give them offensive and defensive capabilities. Her Busoshoku Haki is soo strong that she could wound Kaido who was said to have impervious skin.

Lastly, Yamato even possessed the Kenbunshoku Haki, which allows the users to to use the sixth sense to sense the presence, strength and emotions of others. It even gave the user prerogative abilities.

Takeru

Takeru is the giant Kanab that Yamato possesses. With Yamato's strength added to the kanabo, she can cause large-scale damage in a single hit. Also with the addition of her haki she can do flying strikes like energy blasts. She has mastered the use of the kanabo despite its huge size and is able to use it easily.
