Boin Archipelago in One Piece

The Boin Archipelago is a group of islands in Paradise that resemble flowers. They contain a variety of enormous bugs and ferocious man-eating plants.

During the events of the Sabaody Archipelago, Bartholomew Kuma dispatched Usopp to one of these islands, where he spent two years perfecting his talents. Usopp and Heracles were able to escape the island despite the legend that no one who enters has a possibility of doing so.

History of Boin Archipelago

During the events of Sabaody Archipelago, Usopp was sent flying to Boin Archipelago by Bartholomew Kuma. Usopp gave in to gluttony and overindulged in the forest’s many treats to the point where he became morbidly obese. After learning of his captain’s tragic loss from a newspaper that fell from the newspaper delivery board, Usopp tried to flee but almost got eaten alive.

Heracles trained Usopp here during the time-skip. Usopp was taught everything by Heracles, including fighting tactics and information on Pop Green and other forest features to help him grow physically and become a true sniper.

Geography of Boin Archipelago

The island is home to the swindling woodland of Greenstone. Also, it is well-known for having the Forest of Gluttony, also known as Bōshoku no Mori. This forest contains a river of pre-made ramen in addition to more common wild foods like plum trees and maize stalks. More than anything else, in the anime, this forest appears as a theme park with focus on food. Although it is mentioned that Greenstone has thieves, Heracles is now the only one who resides here.

The islands are actually enormous stomach-baring plants, or “Stomach Baron,” which consume obese animals found in the Greenstone forest. The margins are protected by a gang of large beetles.

The “islands” are home to a wide range of unusual plant species referred to as Pop Greens. Usopp claims that once one travels deeper into the islands, they can find a variety of Pop Greens. However, it is not advisable to do so because the deeper you go, the more challenging it is to escape.

Inhabitants of Boin Archipelago

The only known people to have lived here are:

Heracles

When Usopp was sent flying to Boin Archipelago, Heracles was the only human being living here, who claimed to be a warrior. He lived in the Greenstone Forest and trained Usopp for two years on how to use the Pop Greens and become a better sniper.

Usopp

Usopp, also referred to as “God Usopp”, was sent flying to Boin Archipelago during the Straw Hat Pirates’ separation at Sabaody Archipelago by Bartholomew Kuma. Usopp spent two years during the time-skip on this island, training, to grow strong physically and become a professional sniper until he reunited with his crew.

Usopp is the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates’ crew and one of the Senior Officers of Straw Hat Grand Fleet.

Trivia

  • It uses a variety of trapping techniques used by actual plants. Another illusion of these carnivorous plants is their usage of tasty fruit to attract insects, as many of them do using fragrant odors, sticky mucilage or glue. Although its mechanism of entrapment is more like the Venus Flytrap, its leaves resemble plants like the pinguicula.

  • Boin and Sabaody Archipelago are the only archipelagos that are formed of vegetation rather than actual land.
