The Bomu Bomu no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to make any part of their body explode, whether it is their limbs, hair, mucus, or even their breath, transforming them into a Bomb Human.
It was consumed by Gem, moreover renowned as Mr. 5 from Baroque Works. The fruit’s abilities were first demonstrated in the “Welcoming Town”, before the beginning of the Alabasta Arc.

At some point in the past, Gem, also known as Mr. 5, consumed the Bomu Bomu no Mi (Bomb-Bomb) Devil Fruit.
The Bomu Bomu no Mi looks like a dark purple apple with S-shaped swirls and a rope-like golden stem. The color and shape also make it look like a stereotypical bomb (black and spherical with a stringy fuse). The stem is shaggy at the end, giving it an appearance of a lit fuse.
The main advantage of the fruit is that the user can detonate their entire body or limbs in a manner similar to a living human bomb, unleashing enormous explosive forces that hurt everything except the user. The explosive property extends to body emissions like mucus and breath, allowing the user to use ranged assaults if they can weaponize those fluids.
The fruit also offers immunity to all other explosions, including cannonballs, as well as the ability to judge their quality.
However, it appears that the ability only activates when the person initiates contact with anything, rather than at random. Additionally, despite their explosion immunity, the user is not resistant to fire. Besides these, the user suffers with standard Devil Fruit flaws.
The most basic use of Gem’s power is to select his own mucus and flick it at his opponents for long-ranged attacks. For close range, he can detonate his arms, legs or his entire body. Despite the fact that the explosions do not damage Gem or his clothes, he prefers to draw up his sleeves before directly blowing someone up with his arms.
Gem frequently fights alongside Mikita because his skills complement hers, since the hits caused by his explosions provide enough momentum for the latter to soar around under the effects of her own talents. Gem also doesn’t respond to explosive projectiles because he knows they won’t hurt him. He may even consume them in order to confine the explosion within himself and protect his allies. Having said that, a skilled enough opponent can mislead Gem into eating something else that looks like an explosion but isn’t.
Gem has access to a Flintlock.44 Caliber 6 Shot Revolver, which allows him to weaponize his own explosive breath into functioning bullets that can be quickly shot by first blowing air into the gun's chambers to load it with “ammo” and then firing normally. He claims to despise using this against enemies he considers weak, but will do it if he becomes impatient enough.

This is an efficient technique that Gem uses on his opponents by digging a dried mucus out of his nose and flicking it towards his opponent. When the snot makes contact with the enemy, it explodes with an unexpectedly large force.
This technique is the same as Nose Fancy Cannon, the only difference is that Gem flicks mucus with both hands at the same time.
Gem kicks his enemy, detonating his leg on impact.
Gem blows into the chambers of a revolver pistol, then fires invisible exploding rounds with his breath.
Gem bear-hugs his opponent before detonating his entire body at once. According to Gem, this method is so lethal that it leaves no trace of his opponent’s bones behind.
