Bolam attempted to abduct Chopper by making clones of him after failing to capture the Dwarves. He was sent flying away as the Chopper clones revolted and threw themselves at him, setting off a gas-releasing tool hidden beneath his lab coat.
After taking a lot of hits from the Straw Hat Pirates and Sabo, Bolam confronted them and ultimately lost.
Dr. Bolam is the only known inhabitant of the Digital Art Island.
The island's name is a play on the Japanese word for "Art," Āto. The island's name is a pronunciation for "Digital Art" since the Japanese suffix for "island" is "-tō", and because the island's actual Japanese name is Dejitaru Ā.
