Fireworks Island in One Piece

Fireworks Island is a town that is very basic in shape and it has mountains at the top. Odama’s family workshop is at the top of the mountains. There is also a graveyard which is near the eastern side of the town where Kodama’s parents are buried.

For almost 400 years, Odama’s family started making fireworks and launched them in the annual Fireworks festival. Kodama’s parents were killed when the Ball 205 firework was launched but it malfunctioned. In spite of this, Odama and Kodama continued working on fireworks for the next year’s festival.

When the Straw Hats arrived on Fireworks Island to stock up on their gunpowder, it was the day of the fireworks festival. When they learned about the festival, Usopp went to Odama’s workshop to request some gunpowder but was denied.

While leaving the workshop he met Kodama who asked for his help to set off the Ball 205, which she wanted to be a secret from her grandfather. The launch team eventually told Odama of Kodama’s plan and she stormed off to her parent’s grave in frustration and sadness.

When Usopp went after her, he pretended to speak for her parents and convinced Kodama that she should still be proud of her accomplishments as a pyrotechnician. Usopp then told her about a way that would guarantee a successful launch of Ball 205 and with Odama’s help they launched it successfully in the Firework Festival’s finale. Later on, Odama finally agreed in giving Usopp gunpowder for the ship.
