Giolla’s History

Giolla had been a member of the Donquixote Pirates for a long time, even before Trafalgar Law joined the crew at the age of 10. During her time with the crew, she discovered and adopted a newborn Dellinger, a half-fish-man who had been abandoned at birth.

One day, while having a meal with other members of Doflamingo's "family," they learned that Law was sick with Amber Lead Syndrome. Giolla initially panicked, thinking it was contagious, but Doflamingo corrected her. Later, she participated in a raid with fellow crew members.

When Law tried to escape after stabbing Corazon, Giolla, and Machvise caught him and brought him before Doflamingo, unaware of Law's betrayal. After Law became an official crew member, the Donquixote Pirates continued their activities in the Grand Line, engaging in looting, business deals, and bounty collection.

Six months after Rosinante and Law left the crew, the Donquixote Pirates planned to steal the Ope Ope no Mi. They arrived at Minion Island and learned of Rosinante's betrayal from Vergo.

Giolla participated in Doflamingo's takeover of Dressrosa, invading the royal palace alongside other officers after Monet opened the gates.

Punk Hazard Arc

Giolla played cards with Lao G while Doflamingo talked on the phone. When Sugar informed her that Doflamingo was not in his room, Giolla assumed he had gone to Punk Hazard.

Dressrosa Arc

While playing cards with Lao G, Giolla got annoyed when Baby 5 accepted Trebol's proposal. Later, she assaulted the Thousand Sunny, transforming Nami, Chopper, Brook, Momonosuke, and the ship into abstract forms of art.

Ordered by Doflamingo to kidnap Momonosuke, she initially failed to recognize him in his dragon form. Nami's group escaped the ship, but Giolla demanded that Momonosuke be handed over. In the ensuing fight, Nami, Brook, and Chopper defeat Giolla's men and destroy her ship. Giolla then used her Devil Fruit powers to incapacitate any further resistance.

Giolla trapped Chopper, Momonosuke, and Nami in a deadly painting set to suffocate them in ten minutes. Brook, seemingly more interested in the art, asked Giolla to return his violin and cane to normal. After complying, Giolla was defeated by Brook's Ekaki-Uta: Hitoyogiri, causing her power to wear off and the group to return to normal.

Nami's group continued attacking Giolla to ensure she was fully incapacitated. They discussed Law's refusal to hand Caesar back to Doflamingo. Giolla proudly revealed that Doflamingo hadn't truly quit the Seven Warlords of the Sea and explained his plan, leaving the crew shocked and worried. Arriving at Green Bit, Giolla called out to Doflamingo, who intended to kill Nami's group. Sanji intercepted Doflamingo but was immobilized by strings. Giolla thought Sanji was doomed, but Law used Shambles to teleport Sanji, Caesar, and himself to the Thousand Sunny.

With Giolla as a hostage, Law bought time for Nami's group to escape using Coup de Burst. Later, Giolla was seen on an iron bridge, held at sword point by Law during his clash with Doflamingo. After being released, Giolla quickly fled the bridge.

During Doflamingo's Birdcage crisis, Giolla was assigned to revive defeated Donquixote officers. She tried to coerce the Dwarf Princess, Mansherry, into using her healing powers, but Mansherry refused. Giolla, angered, attempted to force Mansherry by squeezing her, making her cry. Realizing Mansherry's tears had healing properties, Giolla slapped her until she cried profusely. However, Leo intervened, stitching the officers and subordinates onto Giolla and sending them headfirst, artfully defeating her.

After Leo's attack, Giolla was injured and unable to move. She witnessed Princess Mansherry leaving with Leo and Kabu. Realizing the gravity of Mansherry's restoration power and its importance to Doflamingo, Giolla prayed for Senor Pink to defend the SMILE Factory. Following Doflamingo's defeat, Giolla, along with her fellow officers, passed out from injuries and was subsequently arrested by the Marines.

Giolla’s Personality

Giolla is quite arrogant and often misinterprets comments as compliments, leading her to berate others for things they never said. She has a high opinion of herself and enjoys being praised, even if it's not warranted. Her passion for art is strong, and she takes pride in bringing her creative visions to life.

Despite her artistic enthusiasm, Giolla's judgment can be clouded, as seen when she was tricked by Brook into undoing a transformation by appealing to her as a fellow artist. She can be cruel, as demonstrated when she violently treats Mansherry to force her powers out, all the while smiling at the situation.

At a younger age, around 45, Giolla acted as a mother-like figure for younger crew members, showing a nurturing side. However, she could also be prone to prejudice based on false rumors, as seen when she reacted with shock and misconception upon seeing Law's condition.

Giolla’s Appearance

Giolla is a large woman with exaggerated facial features. She wears a purple dress with yellow flowers, a pink bead necklace, and pink pointed glasses. Her orange and blonde hair is twisted together on top.

As a child, she had large buns on each side of her hair and carried painting supplies. At age 45, she was slimmer, wore a shorter dark pink dress, garters on her left leg, and a pink and green coat on her shoulders.

At age 51, she gained more weight with a plumper face and waistline, but not as much as currently.

Giolla’s Abilities

As a high-ranking officer in the Donquixote Pirates, Giolla commanded over 2000 soldiers, indicating a significant level of authority in the crew.

Doflamingo trusted her with important tasks, such as kidnapping Momonosuke and attacking the Straw Hat Pirates' ship. Despite effortlessly defeating Nami, Brook, Momonosuke, and Chopper initially, Giolla was later heavily defeated by Brook in a single move.

Giolla displayed unusual physical capabilities, effortlessly lifting and throwing her subordinates with one hand. She quickly recovered from defeats, including Brook's signature technique and a series of beatings from Nami, Brook, Chopper, and Momonosuke.

Her Devil Fruit ability, the Ato Ato no Mi, is a Paramecia-type power that allows her to reshape and distort any object or living being by throwing a colored cloud at her target. Objects transformed by this ability lose their functionality.

Giolla’s Relationship with Others

Doflamingo

Giolla is exceptionally loyal to Doflamingo, serving under him as a member of the Donquixote Pirates and the Trebol Army. She exhibits genuine devotion to her young master and is willing to sacrifice herself for him.

Doflamingo, in turn, shows concern for Giolla. He allows Nami's group on the Thousand Sunny to escape with Caesar Clown when Law uses Giolla as a hostage.

Dellinger

Giolla found and adopted a newborn Dellinger, who was abandoned at birth. She becomes a motherly figure for him, raising him to be a part of the Donquixote Pirates.

Lao G

Giolla seems to be good friends with Lao G. The two are often seen playing cards together, suggesting a camaraderie or friendship beyond their roles as crewmates.

Baby 5

Giolla gets irritated by Baby 5's habit of rashly accepting every marriage proposal made to her.

Trafalgar Law

Like the rest of the crew, Giolla feels that the traitorous Trafalgar Law should be punished with death.
