Jam Island's infrastructure is modeled after the giant versions of its name. Jam Island's structures are designed after glass mason jars, which are widely used to store food such as jam. Additionally, juice rivers flow out of Jam Island, coloring the seawater around it.

It is stated that Jam Island became a part of Big Mom's territory less than 62 years ago. Charlotte Linlin, aka Big Mom, is said to have altered the appearance of the island with her Soru Soru no Mi (Soul-Soul Fruit) and Streusen's Kuku Kuku no Mi (Cook-Cook Fruit) devil fruit powers. Later, Charlotte Dacquoise, her 41st child and the Minister of Jam, was appointed to govern Jam Island.

In the Whole Cake Island Arc, the Sanji Retrieval Team passes by Jam Island on their way to Whole Cake Island.
