At some point in the past, the Marine Officer, Smoker, consumed the Moku Moku no Mi (Smoke-Smoke) Devil Fruit.
The Moku Moku no Mi is a grey spherical fruit with portions that look like fluffy clouds with a green stem emerging on its top. It looks like a melon.
The main ability of this fruit is that the user can create, manipulate and become smoke. When hit, Smoker, like most other Logia fruit users, can simply use the fruit’s abilities to transform into smoke, absorbing the damage and remain unharmed in it. Like some of the other Logia-type Devil Fruits, it allows its user to “fly” by transforming his body or a portion of it into smoke, considerably boosting his movement and speed.
The fruit’s greatest offensive skills originate from its user’s ability to control the density of the smoke created. This enables Smoker to surround his prey with invisible smoke before solidifying it to grab them. This ability has earned Smoker his nickname “The White Hunter”. The smoke can also be used as a blunt weapon, attacking enemies with devastating force.
However, escaping the smoke’s grip is possible with a rapid, forceful enough expansion of the body. The only weakness of this Devil Fruit is that if the user is confronted by fire, they will nullify one another. Because of his mastery over his powers, the only way to injure Smoker is through the use of Haki.
Many targets of this power have reported that the generated smoke is exceedingly foul, even causing people to cough. However, Smoker has not been seen exploiting its incapacitating effects on other people’s respiration so far.
Smoker has primarily used the smoke produced by his fruit to capture his enemies, giving him the nickname “The White Hunter”. He can change the density of the smoke to make it thick or thin, which allows him to hold and constrain anyone within it.
He can fly like most Logia users by converting his lower body into smoke and propelling himself like a rocket. Smoker had mastered this Devil Fruit by the time he took part in the Summit War of Marineford and could change into smoke instinctively if attacked.
Smoker has shown a greater awareness and expertise of the fundamental physics of his Logia abilities than most other characters, being able to selectively change and manipulate his normal smoke body parts in unison to catch enemies off guard. One of his more typical battle strategies is to transform into smoke, spread it across a larger area, and then abruptly produce human body parts from the smoke to attack from unexpected angles.
Smoker’s other tactical approach is to turn his limbs but not his hands into smoke which allows him to attack opponents with his Seastone-tipped jitte from a far larger range, or to propel himself jitte-first at his opponents by transforming his lower body into Smoke. He still uses the method after the time jump, but with the addition of hardened fists to his arsenal.
Smoker has also been revealed to use his smoke powers on the engine of his motorcycle, the Billower Bike, allowing ground mobility.
Smoker has demonstrated the following techniques using his fruit’s abilities:
Smoker fires clouds of conventional smoke from his arms, engulfing his opponent, then densifies the smoke to trap them inside. This attack can be used to capture a large number of people at once while his forces prepare to attack Smoker’s hostages.
Smoker blasts his opponent with a cloud of dense smoke shot from his arms. After attacking, he can use the White Out attack to trap his opponent. He has another form of this strike in which he turns only one (except his fist) into smoke and launches the fist as a long-range punch towards his opponent.
Smoker fires a long “snake” of dense smoke from his palm at his opponent, causing it to hit and grip them. This is occasionally followed by him bashing his opponent around.
Smoker transforms himself into a spiraling column of smoke to trap his enemies or catch an airborne target.
Smoker turns into smoke and launches himself towards his opponent, then solidifies and pins him down with the Nanashaku Jitte.
Smoker transforms his entire body into a cloud of dense smoke and charges towards the opponent.
A. The Marine Officer, Smoker, has the Moku Moku no Mi.
A. The Smoke-Smoke Devil Fruit is an exceptional Logia-type Devil Fruit for combat as well as capturing one’s opponents. It also provides a great advantage over most Devil Fruit users or any other powerful opponent, unless they are Haki users.
