When Mont Blanc Cricket was a kid, he was teased and laughed at by everyone due to him being Mont Blanc Noland’s ancestor. As Cricket was ashamed of his family, he ran away and became a captain of a crew of pirates. He did not want to become a pirate necessarily, but he became one just to escape his curse. Later on, Cricket and his crew came across Jaya where Noland found the city of gold and the island that his ancestor had tried finding. Cricket thought that he should try once more to find the legendary city that Noland had found. His crew did not agree with his decision and left him alone on that island.
After that, Cricket thought of living in a house near the cape and began diving into the water to find the city of Gold. Cricket did not care if it existed or not, but he wanted to prove Noland’s innocence. He wanted to settle this once and for all. Later on, Cricket met Masira and Shoujou who were big fans of Nolan’s story and claimed themselves as his followers. They both believed that the city of Gold existed. Even though they were very loud, Cricket allowed them to help him in his search. Since then, they found clues like golden bells, trinkets, and remnants of the city.
When Luffy and his crew reached Cricket's house, they had a brief fight with Cricket and discovered that he had a condition called decompression sickness. However, Luffy and his crew were able to get to know Cricket and settle things with him. Luffy and his crew learned about Cricket's history and his ancestry as they introduced themselves, explained their problem, and got to know Cricket and his proteges. Cricket agreed to help Luffy and his crew go to Skypiea when they showed interest in his dream. But Luffy and his crew soon realized that they needed the South Bird, a crucial item that may help them.
According to Cricket, they needed this bird to locate a knock-up stream that would lead them to Skypiea. When Luffy and his crew heard this, they immediately set out to find the bird. Despite the numerous challenges that they experienced while looking for the bird, they were eventually successful because of Robin. The following morning, Luffy returned to Cricket's home. As he returned Cricket's gold, he noticed the freshly remodeled Going Merry there. Masira and Shoujou accompanied Luffy and his crew after making the necessary adjustments for the journey up to Skypiea and the South Bird. Cricket's parting words of support were heard by Luffy and his crew as they were leaving.
During the Skypiea Arc, Cricket and the rest of the Saruyama Alliance heard the sound of the Golden Bell of Shandora ringing. This sound was accompanied by a large shadow of Luffy on the clouds and that was proof that the City of Gold that Noland found actually existed and it was in the sky all along. Cricket was in tears when he got to know the truth and that the Straw Hats were also alive after using the Knock-up stream to get to Sky Island. Now that the City of Gold was in the sky, Cricket decided to stop searching for it in the sea and started to move on. Before he left Jaya, he called the Saruyama Alliance to accompany him on his new dream. They wholeheartedly accepted this and they all left for their new dream.
During this arc, Cricket and the Saruyama Alliance were searching for Nakrowa, the Island of Dreams.
Mont Blanc Cricket is very determined and a stubborn man. He can be cheerful at times and he also believes that people should pursue their dreams even if others laugh at them. Cricket is seen to care a lot about the Saruyama Alliance and thinks of them as his sons. As he was carrying his ancestors’ burden, he was called a liar and was taunted because of his relationship with Noland. He even continued Noland’s dream and was very happy to know that the city actually existed and people were wrong about Noland. He found peace with his ancestor’s legacy and finally moved on and continued with his dreams.
Mont Blanc Cricket is a muscular middle-aged man with blond hair. He has a large chestnut on his head which he got from his ancestor, Noland. He wears dark-purple tracksuit pants with a white stripe that runs along his legs and a rope around his waist. He does not wear shirts or shoes as he does a lot of diving. He is also seen smoking a cigarette and has a tattoo of a chestnut with the word ‘Maroon’ written on it. After the time skip, he wears a dress shirt and leaves it a bit open to show off his chest. He also started wearing a captain’s coat hanging from his shoulders. He also has a long beard along his jaw lines connected to his sideburns.
Cricket is a skilled diver, capable of going deep into the water. His ancestor Noland, who also dove to tremendous depths, is said to have passed down this talent to him. But his body had suffered as a result of his constant diving and lack of rest. Cricket can hold his own against Sanji before succumbing to decompression sickness. He is also a skilled martial artist. In battle, he adopts a unique fighting stance and kicks his opponent.
