At one point a Marine ship that was commanded by Ranapnui’s father entered the Rainbow Mist and was trapped there. The entire crew dies, just like the other crews who were here before them. Later on, the Pumpkin Pirates and Ian, a member of the Wetton Pirates, were trapped in Rainbow Mist. Hanzo, who had stayed behind, was on a mission to research Rainbow Mist and find a way to rescue his friends. Wetton became the ruler of Ruluka and sponsored his work.

According to the Rainbow Mist book series, Rainbow Mist could be the Land of Gods or even the entrance to the ‘City of Gold’. It also said that if anyone looked for the Rainbow Mist and the Land Of Gods they can never return alive. When the Straw Hats then made their way to Ruluka Island they got to know that the person who dictated them is an old pirate. This person is overcharging the taxes so that he can get the Rainbow Tower built, as a scientist had discovered something known as ‘Rainbow Mist’.

The scientist was sponsored by the mayor of Ruluka Island. The Going Merry got caught up in the Rainbow Mist. When they were lost in the mist, the crew discovered a group of children who had been trapped in it for years. On the other side, the mayor and his subordinates give Luffy more information about Rainbow Mist. Nami then appeared with the ship from the graveyard with a rowboat that was full of treasure and a rope that connected to a dock in the real world.

When the Straw Hats find their way out from the mist, they are not able to locate the children. The Marines had arrived again to apparently arrest them but they turned out to be the kids that they had seen. The kids say that there is no more place on the ship as the Mayor and his wicked gang have been tied and locked up there. The members of the Pumpkin Pirates returned back to their original timelines and the Straw Hats left Rainbow Mist.
