One Piece is a Japanese shonen manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It was first published in July 1997 and it hasn’t looked back since. One Piece became a fan-favorite manga series soon after its debut. Its market domination was so overwhelming that it affected the sales of other series. With its huge success, it became one of the Big Three in its community, and also got an anime adaptation by Toei Animation. Its first episode premiered on 20 October 1999 on Fuji TV.
One Piece has kept its fans on the edge of their seats for 25 years now, since the release of its first chapter in 1997. Fans of the series have been on a rollercoaster of emotions ever since its release. Many of the fans practically grew up following the life of Monkey D. Luffy, our favorite pirate, and his pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates. Although we may not be ready to witness it, we can’t deny its inevitable end. After 25 amazing years, many fans are eager to see Luffy become the next King of the Pirates.
There have been many speculations as to when the series might end. Eiichiro Oda on multiple occasions predicted when the series might end but as time passed by, there were always new updates with new predictions. In his latest estimate about the expected ending of the series in 2020, Oda predicted that the series will end in 4 years. If everything goes to plan, One Piece should be concluded in 2024 or 2025. Based on this statement, fans could look forward to at least the next couple of years and enjoy the series. Although Oda plans to end it by 2024-25, it might get extended depending on the situation.
In conclusion, at this point, we can not determine when the series will end as there are multiple unforeseeable factors in play here. That being said, we still get to enjoy and follow the adventures of Luffy and his pirate crew filled with excitement, laughter, and a rollercoaster of emotions for at least the next 2-3 years and maybe more. Despite how or when it will end, we will be here waiting patiently to see it all and witness Luffy claim the One Piece and get recognized as the next King of the Pirates.
