Crocus’s History

Fifty years ago, Crocus met the Rumbar Pirates when they entered the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain from the West Blue. Crocus noticed that a whale named Laboon had followed them into the Grand Line.

He allowed the pirates to stay at the Twin Capes Lighthouse while their ship was repaired. During this time, Crocus became friends with the pirates, especially their captain, Yorki, and musician, Brook.

After three months of repairs and celebration, the Rumbar Pirates' ship was ready to sail again. However, they were concerned for Laboon, who was too young to face the dangers of the Grand Line. So, they asked Crocus to take care of Laboon until they completed their journey around the world and returned down Reverse Mountain.

They promised to return in two to three years, but unfortunately, they never came back, and Crocus waited for them for many years.

Later, twenty-six years before the main story, Crocus encountered the Roger Pirates, led by Gol D. Roger, as they entered the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain. Roger was suffering from a terminal illness, and the crew asked Crocus, who was known for his medical skills, to join them as their doctor to help stabilize Roger's health. Crocus agreed to join them, hoping to find information about what had happened to the Rumbar Pirates.

Crocus spent three years with the Roger Pirates, caring for Roger's health and searching for information about the Rumbar Pirates. He learned that some of the Rumbar Pirates had tried to escape the Grand Line through the dangerous Calm Belt, and he believed they had abandoned Laboon and broken their promise to return.

During their journey, the Roger Pirates had various adventures, including clashes with the Whitebeard Pirates and forming alliances with other notable individuals like Kozuki Oden, Nekomamushi, and Inuarashi. Crocus also informed Roger that he had only one year left to live. Their journey eventually took them to the Skypiea region.

After their adventures on Skypeia, the Roger Pirates visited various places, including Water 7, Tequila Wolf, Sabaody Archipelago, and Fish-Man Island. They left some of their members and allies at Wano Country. Later, they reached Laugh Tale, where they discovered Joy Boy's treasure, and their response was laughter.

After Roger became the Pirate King, he decided to disband the crew. He left first, and the rest of the crew bid farewell to him. They returned Kozuki Oden to Wano Country, and then Crocus left the crew when it disbanded.

Crocus returned to the Twin Capes Lighthouse twenty-three years before the current story and informed Laboon about his travels. Crocus tried to explain what he believed had happened to the Rumbar Pirates, but Laboon refused to believe him and started hitting Reverse Mountain in an attempt to rejoin his pirate friends.

Unable to stop Laboon, Crocus decided to care for the whale's injuries by creating an elaborate tunnel system inside Laboon, as Laboon had grown too large for traditional external medical treatment.

Reverse Mountain Arc

Twenty-three years later, Crocus encountered the Straw Hat Pirates when Laboon swallowed them, while Monkey D. Luffy arrived through the main entrance on top of the whale. Laboon once again tried to break through the Red Line, but Crocus used a sedative on the whale to calm him down.

After Luffy defeated Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9, who were attempting to harm Laboon for meat, Crocus guided the Straw Hat Pirates out of Laboon and shared the story of Laboon's past. Luffy, touched by Laboon's story and feeling a connection, decided to have a friendly duel with the whale. He declared it a draw and promised to return to finish their battle once they reached the end of the Grand Line.

Crocus was happy for Laboon, and he noted the similarities between Luffy and Gol D. Roger. Before the Straw Hat Pirates departed, Crocus gave Nami his personal Log Pose as a token of gratitude for preventing Laboon from rampaging further. This was a replacement for the Log Pose Nami had taken from Mr. 9, which was destroyed during their earlier confrontation.

Thriller Bark Arc

When Brook, the lone survivor of the Rumbar Pirates, decided to join the Straw Hat Pirates, Laboon expressed joy through a triumphant wail, showing he recognized Brook's return. Crocus observed Laboon's increased happiness.

From the Decks of the World

After the Straw Hat Pirates' two-year training period, Crocus was spotted having a drink with another individual at the Twin Capes.

Crocus has a weird quirk of taking his time when answering questions. He is also supportive and responsible, readily offering his support to the Roger Pirates in both battles and medical treatments.

However, he is strict and principled when it comes to healthcare, berating Roger for his excessive drinking and refusing to allow Buggy to travel with them due to illness.

Crocus is a stocky and muscular man with a bald head but has white hair with petal-like yellow and purple elements that encircle his head. He also sports a white beard that splits into two sections. He also has a scar on his left arm.

He typically wears a pink shirt with a yellow and green stripe, featuring purple circles within the yellow stripes, along with blueish-grey shorts and sandals. Crocus accessorizes with glasses, a seaweed necklace, three gold bracelets, and a green gem bracelet on his left wrist.

As a member of the Roger Pirates, Crocus had black hair with yellow parts resembling a flower. He wore a pink hat with black spots and had less pronounced facial wrinkles. At that time, he didn't have a beard, but only stubble. He also wore a pink sleeveless shirt and a dark pink hat and carried harpoons on his back.

After the two-year time skip, Crocus maintains a similar style but wears a new dark-colored shirt.

Crocus’s Abilities

Crocus is not only a skilled fighter but also a capable doctor and pharmacist. He is proficient in using harpoons as his weapons and has the strength to defeat large sea creatures. Despite his age, he has a high pain tolerance and durability, as he could take direct hits from powerful attacks without showing any signs of damage.

Crocus possesses the rare ability known as Kenbunshoku Haki, which allows him to sense the presence and intentions of others, making him a formidable individual in battles.

As a doctor, Crocus is considered one of the finest medical specialists in the world. He successfully treated Gol D. Roger's incurable disease, prolonging Roger's life long enough for the pirate to complete his journey.

Crocus also developed effective medicines and tranquilizers, even creating one that works on Laboon, a massive 400-meter-long whale.

Additionally, he is a skilled surgeon who modified Laboon's body to install routes for medical treatment, showcasing his remarkable medical expertise.
