Bukini traveled to Paradise Island to set up a shop and provide money to Doflamingo. He abducted Homey's parents and pushed Homey to assist him in fooling island tourists into becoming slaves to work in his factory.
The Marines visited Paradise Island to look into many kidnappings. Homey assisted the Straw Hat Pirates to escape the Marines when they arrived on the island. They were given an explanation of the KANAEMA SHOW, which she and Bukini pretended to host.
Trafalgar Law also visited the island to look into it since they thought it had something to do with Doflamingo. He attacked Bukini, interrupted the competition, and revealed their facade. After defeating Bukini and destroying the weapon factory, Luffy freed the slaves and the island.
The landscape of Paradise Island is similar to the design of the WaterWorld stage at Universal Studios Japan. Bukini established an underground weapon factory on the island, which he staffed using slave labor provided by tourists. The factory was a notable source of revenue for Donquixote Doflamingo, but Monkey D. Luffy destroyed it.
The KANAEMA SHOW, a competition where visitors to the island participate in acts like dancing and martial arts for a big cash prize, is hosted by Bukini and Homey. The contestants are forced to labor in the island's hidden weapon factory, which is a front for a slave capture operation.
The only known inhabitants at Paradise Island are:
