Curly Dadan in One Piece

Past

Curly Dadan was blackmailed by Garp, who threatened to arrest the Dadan Family if they refused to care for Ace and Luffy because Dadan had committed a number of crimes. The Vice Admiral hid the outlaws' activities from the Government as the Dadan family accepted Garp's offer. Regarding Higuma, Luffy expresses his hatred for mountain bandits. Dadan yells at Luffy in a rage, telling him that he might as well go and starve to death. She was told to calm down by one of her fellow robbers. When Luffy admits he did not eat enough, he frustrates her even more. She tells him to be grateful that he can even eat with them and that he should begin helping around the house the next day.

She tells Luffy to go get his food if he wants more food and says that he can then have one bowl of rice and one glass of water. Dadan reacts furiously when Luffy agrees. He continues by telling Dadan that he is powerful enough to take on a pirate. When Dadan sees Ace and Luffy leaving, she is shocked. According to her, Garp's grandchildren are far too powerful for them to handle.

After a week, Luffy returns injured and his clothes are torn to bits. When she sees him, she freaks out and puts him to bed. The following day, Luffy again follows Ace. She then screams furiously at Luffy for ignoring his chores. To Dadan's shock, Ace and Luffy bring Sabo to her home one day. Dadan expresses her annoyance every time the trio goes on their mini-adventures. Dadan reads from a newspaper that the World Nobles will be visiting the Goa Kingdom.

She ends up leaving the building to see the flames coming from Grey Terminal. She and her bandits race down to help Ace and Luffy, making it just in time for Bluejam to take out Ace. Ace resists running away from Bluejam as she attempts to get away with Luffy and Ace. Dadan orders the bandits to grab Luffy and run back to their base of operations while staying behind to fight Bluejam. Even then, Dadan and Ace didn't head back home until after Saint Jalmack shot down Sabo's pirate ship. This was evident even after the flames had faded. Dadan remembers her discussion with Garp about Gol D. Roger's determination to stick up for his friends, even if it meant dying. Ace tried to kill Jalmack after hearing that Sabo had been killed by him, but Dadan stopped him to protect him. When a letter from Sabo came, she let him go.

Ace leaves to become a pirate seven years later. Dadan remembers the day Garp brought Ace to her for the first time as a newborn, but she does not see him leave and instead stays inside her house. She complained loudly about Ace's constant whining and lack of appreciation for her. She begins to cry as she reads the letter Ace left for her. She responds to Luffy leaving in a manner similar to how she did when Ace left three years ago. She started to get upset as Luffy emphasized his hatred of mountain bandits. She begins to sob uncontrollably and holds a handkerchief, much like she did when Ace left.

Marineford Arc

Dadan hears about Ace's death after the Marineford War comes to an end. Dadan comes from a neighboring pub as Garp comes to Foosha Village to set up protection against a sudden surge of pirate activity. Dadan gets angry and accuses Garp of sitting by when Ace died. She also punishes him for prioritizing his family's life over his job. She hits him with a wooden club, but Garp orders his Marines to back off since she's his acquaintance. Dadan then attacks Garp, knocking him to the ground and striking him in the face while screaming that he deserves to be executed for his crimes.

Makino steps in and claims that Garp is the one who is suffering the most because he was unable to save his grandchild, stopping her from attacking him more. However, Dadan responds that Luffy is the one who is suffering the most. Dadan then makes a vow to stand with Luffy and declares her love for him aloud after picturing how awful his situation must be.

From the Decks of the World

Two years later, Dadan and the other bandits celebrate after hearing the news of Luffy's return, and Dadan herself is seen scrapbooking articles while all of them wear straw hats.

The Dadan Family joined the residents of Foosha Village in their joy when word of Luffy's new reward reached Dawn Island following his victory against Doflamingo. Dadan held Makino's baby with joy.

Wano Country Arc

After the Levely, Dadan and her family felt sad after reading some sad news regarding Sabo.

Curly Dadan is like a stereotypical criminal but she is a little timid when it comes to Garp extorting her. She also doesn't have a lot of patience; she was becoming tired and sick of parenting Ace due to his antics, and when she was left with Luffy, she grew even angrier. Despite this, the other mountain bandits respect her very much and would listen to her commands even during combat. People were under the misconception that she was not a nice person but she is actually a good person at heart. She has been known to be courageous, which can be seen when she and her family of bandits arrived to rescue Ace and Luffy from Bluejam before leaving as soon as they felt certain of their safety.

Although she says she dislikes brats, it is clear that she truly loves Ace and Luffy as if they were her own children. However, she is too embarrassed to admit this. This was eventually seen when Ace, Sabo, and Luffy made the decision to leave the bandits' home and build their own hideout. When Dadan found out about Ace's death, she was quite upset, especially because she imagined how devastated Luffy would be. She was so angry that she even attacked and beat up Garp, who she was usually completely scared of, which showed that she cared for the kids.

Dadan is a large, obese lady with long and curly orange hair and a broad, masculine face. She is seen smoking a cigarette. She is seen wearing a white collar, a pink beaded necklace, big belted pants, and heeled boots. Later on, she is seen wearing a light-colored open coat over a black shirt. When she was young, Dadan used to be very attractive with a slim body and wore a one-piece.

Dadan is the leader of the gang and the Dadan Family's mountain bandit ruler. They have a very bad reputation as they have committed many crimes. She has the power to take down the Bluejam. Despite being hurt, she was able to hold a young, angry Ace down and control him. She was also able to hurt Garp physically, although it was probably because the Vice Admiral chose not to protect himself.

Weapons

Curly Dadan's weapon is a long-handled ax, and she is skilled enough with it to stop Bluejam with only one strike. She used a wooden club as a weapon while attacking Garp.

Dadan Family

Dadan has power over the bandits as the leader of the family of bandits. She talks to them in a pleasant manner, and they respond by showing concern for her when she doesn't show up after the battle with Bluejam. Their connection appears to be good. They were also prepared to divide up the duty of caring for Ace and Luffy.

Makino

Due to her relationship with Ace and Luffy, Makino is one of the few people that has a friendly relationship with Dadan despite the fact that she is a bandit. Makino let Dadan drink a sizable amount of wine to numb her pain after Ace's death. When Makino mentioned how Garp had suffered the most from Ace's death, she was the only one brave enough to protect him from Dadan's wrath and had successfully calmed her. However, when Dadan pointed out that Luffy had suffered the most, Makino started to cry and ran away. Dadan briefly expressed worry about Makino and the way she cared for Luffy.

Monkey D. Garp

Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp stated that he trusted Dadan with his grandkids since she is a close friend of his. The relationship appears to have developed as a result of Garp demanding Dadan by threatening to imprison her and her family if they do not comply with his demands. Despite being submissive to Garp's demands, Dadan occasionally considers whether jail might be preferable to his strict instructions. They appear to get along well, though, since Garp would open up to Dadan about Ace's past and discuss his conversations with Roger. She started drinking heavily after Ace passed away but stopped when she found out Garp was in town. She immediately raced out of the pub and attacked Garp with a club and then her fists. Garp did nothing to control her anger even though she was hitting him since he knew she was grieving. After Garp's raid on Hachinosu, the veteran trooper was reported missing in action, and Dadan was clearly worried about him.

Monkey D. Luffy

Dadan was on the point of rejecting Garp's request to have her and her family of thieves watch out for the youngster because they already had their hands full with Ace alone when Luffy first met her. Due to his hatred of bandits who live in the mountains and his previous encounters with Higuma, Luffy returned this initial lack of affection. He even went so far as to stick his tongue out at her during their first lunch together. However, as Dadan went above and beyond to find and protect Luffy and Ace from Bluejam, and as Luffy grew concerned about Dadan's well-being, they eventually came to care for one another. Dadan cried happily as a result of Luffy's confession that he likes Dadan and the family despite his hatred of mountain bandits before setting off on his journey to become a pirate.

Portgas D. Ace

Dadan was scared at the notion of taking care of another kid sent by Garp because she had been entrusted with Ace and knew first-hand how annoying he was. She was willing to maintain her friendship with Garp and kept an unexpected piece of information under wraps despite the fact that she is evidently aware of Ace's connection to Roger. Ace liked her as he commented that he would miss her, even if Dadan had become upset when Ace threatened to murder anybody who offended his past. When Ace passed away, Dadan openly beat Garp while sobbing since he had failed to save him.

Sabo

Dadan had issues with Sabo when they first met, but she was okay with him staying at her house with Ace and Luffy. When Dogra told Dadan of Sabo's death, Dadan was just as surprised as Ace and Luffy. It appears she found out that he wasn't actually dead after the timeskip. Additionally, certain information in the papers about Sabo made her unhappy.
