Sanji in One Piece (Source: Still from the anime)

Sanji, better known as “Black Leg Sanji” is a chef and combatant of the Straw Hat Pirates, and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. He is a member of the Monster Trio in the crew alongside Luffy and Zoro. Sanji hails from North Blue, and is a former prince of the Germa Kingdom.

He is the third son and fourth child of the Vinsmoke Family, whom he despised since childhood. Sanji escaped during one of the Germa Kingdom’s expeditions to conquer North Blue, and has disowned them since. Eventually, after facing hardships and a life near death, he became a sous chef under Zeff at the Baratie, a sea floating restaurant.

Sanji joined the Straw Hat Pirates as its fifth member. He dreams of finding the All Blue, a place which is rumored to be a chef’s paradise, and where wildlife from East Blue, North Blue, West Blue, and South Blue meet, hence the name.

Sanji’s History

Sanji was born 21 years ago in the North Blue as a prince of the Germa Kingdom, alongside his three brothers. His father, Vinsmoke Judge, genetically modified them to be superhuman and emotionless soldiers. However, his mother, Sora, opposed this and took a drug to ensure they remained normal. The drug only worked on Sanji but weakened her health beyond recovery.

As a child, Sanji cooked a meal for his mother, which made her smile despite being ruined on the way. This sparked his love for cooking. Judge trained his children to become warriors, but Sanji, lacking enhancements, fell behind. His siblings bullied him, and Judge saw him as weak. When Judge caught him feeding a rat, he scolded him, threw the food and rat away, and demanded he stop cooking. Sanji continued to suffer beatings, with only his sister Reiju secretly helping him.

Eventually, Judge gave up on Sanji, locked him in a dungeon with an iron mask, and faked his death with a staged funeral, telling Germa 66 that Sanji had died in an accident.

Sanji spent six months in the Germa Kingdom's dungeon, only having his mask removed for meals. During this time, he read about the All Blue in a cookbook. His brothers discovered he was alive and continued bullying him, while Reiju secretly treated his wounds but claimed she wasn’t on his side.

When Germa crossed into the East Blue, Sanji told Reiju he wanted to escape and become a chef. She freed him, and as he fled, he encountered Judge. Judge let him go on the condition that he never reveal their connection. Reiju then directed Sanji to a cruise ship, the Orbit, telling him never to return. Sanji cut ties with his family and abandoned his royal title.

Two years later, at age ten, Sanji worked as a cook on the Orbit. One day, the pirate "Red Leg" Zeff attacked the ship, but a storm sank both vessels. Zeff saved Sanji after hearing his dream of finding the All Blue. They washed up on a rocky island with little food. Zeff gave Sanji all the rations, keeping only a sack for himself. When Sanji ran out of food, he tried to steal from Zeff, only to find the sack contained treasure, not food. To Sanji’s horror, Zeff had survived by eating his own leg.

Zeff shared his dream of opening a sea restaurant, and Sanji, feeling guilty, vowed to help. Soon after, a passing ship rescued them. From that experience, Sanji swore never to refuse food to the hungry, no matter who they were.

Sanji started smoking at the Baratie to impress Zeff, despite warnings it would ruin his taste buds. He spent the next nine years as the restaurant’s sous-chef, honing his cooking skills under Zeff and developing his powerful kick-based fighting style. Zeff also taught him to never fight with his hands and to never harm women.

Baratie Arc

One day, while working as a waiter at the Baratie, Sanji served Marine Lieutenant Fullbody and his date, Moodie. Sanji’s dismissive attitude embarrassed Fullbody, who then tried to pick a fight. When Fullbody wasted his food in frustration, Sanji beat him up. The situation escalated, drawing Zeff and Luffy into the argument.

Amid the chaos, a starving prisoner named Gin, who had escaped from Fullbody’s custody, begged for food. The other chefs refused, but Sanji fed him anyway. Grateful, Gin ate, and Luffy, impressed by Sanji’s kindness, invited him to join his crew. Sanji refused, feeling indebted to Zeff. Later, when he saw Nami, he jokingly declared he’d become a pirate if it meant being with her, but his womanizing annoyed Usopp.

Two days later, the wrecked ship Dreadnaught Sabre arrived, carrying Don Krieg, Gin’s captain. Gin had brought the starving Krieg and his crew to the Baratie. Again, the chefs refused to help, but Sanji fed Krieg. Once he regained his strength, Krieg demanded food for his crew and tried to take over the Baratie. Sanji’s efforts were blocked by the other chefs, but Zeff ultimately provided food for Krieg’s men.

As the chefs prepared for battle, Luffy joined Sanji to defend the Baratie. Before they could fight, Don Krieg’s ship was suddenly sliced apart by Mihawk, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Sanji and the others then witnessed a brief battle between Mihawk and Zoro, one of Luffy’s crewmates. Despite his skills, Zoro was defeated. After hearing Zoro's vow to Luffy, Sanji and the others refocused on the battle against Krieg's forces.

Using the fighting skills he learned from Zeff, Sanji took down many of Krieg’s men. However, he struggled against Pearl, a powerful fighter known as the "invincible wall." Luffy accidentally made Pearl even fiercer, but Sanji held his own. Just as he gained the upper hand, Gin took Zeff hostage and demanded Sanji surrender.

Gin tried to negotiate for the chefs' safety, but Sanji refused to abandon Zeff, explaining that Zeff had once sacrificed his own leg to save his life. As Pearl took the chance to attack Sanji, he stood his ground, willing to die for the Baratie. Before things got worse, Luffy suddenly smashed part of the restaurant.

Shocked and angry, Sanji demanded to know why. Luffy explained that since the Baratie was Krieg’s target, destroying it would stop the pirates. He also reminded Sanji that Zeff didn’t save him just for him to throw his life away. As they talked, Pearl attacked again, but Gin unexpectedly knocked him out, announcing that he would be the one to finish off Sanji.

Sanji fought Gin, but due to his injuries, he was overpowered. However, Gin couldn't bring himself to kill Sanji because of the kindness he had shown him earlier. This enraged Don Krieg, who fired a deadly MH5 poison gas bomb. Luffy threw masks to Sanji and Gin to protect them, but Gin gave his own mask to Luffy, sacrificing himself and getting poisoned in the process.

Sanji urged the chefs to help Gin while Luffy battled Krieg. Zeff told Sanji to watch carefully, and Sanji was amazed by Luffy's determination. Against all odds, Luffy shattered Krieg’s impenetrable armor. Though Krieg kept fighting, Luffy ultimately defeated him but fell into the sea. Knowing Luffy couldn't swim, Sanji jumped in and rescued him. Later, he gave Krieg’s defeated crew a small boat to leave.

After Luffy regained consciousness, Sanji shared his dream of finding the All Blue but still refused to join his crew. However, the other chefs secretly wanted him to go, so they insulted his cooking as an excuse to push him toward his dream. While thinking outside, Sanji saw Yosaku, Luffy’s crewmate, crash into the Baratie. Yosaku brought urgent news and asked Luffy to come with him.

Finally, Sanji decided to leave with Luffy and become his crew’s cook. As he prepared to go, Zeff, who had always been harsh on him, surprised Sanji by telling him to take care of himself. Overwhelmed, Sanji tearfully thanked Zeff in his usual foul-mouthed way. With an emotional farewell, he left the Baratie and set sail with Luffy and Yosaku on a small ship.

Arlong Park Arc

As Sanji, Luffy, and Yosaku sailed to reunite with the crew, Yosaku explained fish-people, but Luffy ignored him and doodled silly drawings, amusing Sanji. When Momoo, a giant sea creature, appeared looking for food, Sanji tried to feed it but kicked it away when it tried to eat his hand. They then rode Momoo to Arlong Park, where they crashed into Zoro.

Johnny arrived, claiming Nami had killed Usopp. Shortly after, Nami appeared, and Sanji greeted her excitedly, annoying Zoro. When she confirmed Usopp’s "death," Zoro attacked her, but Sanji defended her. However, Usopp soon showed up alive. Nojiko then appeared and offered to tell them about Nami’s past. Sanji and Usopp agreed to listen. After hearing Nami’s tragic story, the crew joined Luffy in marching to Arlong Park to fight.

During the battle, Luffy got stuck in cement. When the fish-men tried to crush him with a boulder, Sanji shattered it with a kick. Each Straw Hat faced an opponent, and Sanji fought Kuroobi. Distracted by Zoro's fight, Sanji took a powerful punch and was knocked far away but got back up.

When Luffy was thrown into the water, Sanji dove in to save him but was attacked by Kuroobi, who had the advantage underwater. To counter him, Sanji blocked Kuroobi’s gills, forcing him to release him.

Back on land, Sanji challenged Kuroobi and quickly defeated him. He and Zoro then fought Arlong but were overpowered, realizing only Luffy could win. As Zoro kept Arlong distracted, Sanji freed Luffy, who then defeated Arlong.

After the battle, the Straw Hats celebrated with the villagers, and Nami officially joined the crew. They then set sail once more for the Grand Line.

Loguetown Arc

After getting Nami back, Sanji and the crew sailed toward the Grand Line, stopping at Loguetown for supplies. While shopping, Sanji bought an Elephant Tuna, but their trip took a sudden turn when Luffy was captured by Buggy.

Buggy planned to execute Luffy on the same platform where Gol D. Roger died. Sanji and Zoro rushed to save him but couldn't reach him in time. However, a bolt of lightning struck, miraculously saving Luffy. The crew then regrouped and fled from Buggy and the Marines.

As they escaped, Captain Smoker briefly stopped them, but a sudden storm helped them get away. Once back on the Going Merry, Sanji brought out a barrel for a small ceremony. Swearing on their dreams, the Straw Hats officially set sail for the Grand Line.

Reverse Mountain Arc

After sailing through a storm, Sanji and the crew climbed Reverse Mountain to enter the Grand Line. However, they ran into a giant whale blocking the entrance. While they stopped the ship in time, Luffy’s special seat broke, leading to chaos. In the commotion, Sanji and the others were swallowed by the whale while Luffy remained outside.

Inside the whale’s stomach, they met an old man named Crocus, who had made a home there. He explained the whale, Laboon, was ramming into the Red Line, hoping to reunite with a pirate crew that left him 50 years ago. Though they couldn’t solve Laboon’s problem, Luffy gave him new hope.

After leaving Laboon, the crew met two mysterious travelers, Miss Wednesday and Mr. 9, who had tried to take Laboon’s meat. They needed a ride back to their home, Whisky Peak. Despite their suspicious nature, Sanji and the crew decided to help them.

Whisky Peak Arc

While sailing the Grand Line, Sanji shoveled snow off the ship and helped steer when the Going Merry suddenly turned 180 degrees. As the weather kept changing, he made onigiri to keep everyone energized. After a tough struggle, the crew stabilized the ship but were completely exhausted.

They eventually reached Whisky Peak, where Sanji expected to find monsters but was surprised to see a town that warmly welcomed pirates. Excited by the celebration, Sanji, Luffy, and Usopp eagerly shared their adventures. That night, Sanji flirted with 20 women at once before passing out from drinking too much.

The next morning, Luffy violently woke Sanji and Usopp, dragging them to the ship as they made a sudden escape. Confused about why they were leaving such a great town, Sanji questioned Nami, only to be punched into silence. When Miss All-Sunday (Nico Robin) appeared on their ship, Sanji and Usopp confronted her, but she easily overpowered them with her abilities. However, upon seeing her face, Sanji was instantly captivated by her beauty. After Vivi explained the danger they were in, Sanji vowed to protect her.

Little Garden Arc

After arriving at Little Garden, Sanji realized they hadn’t properly restocked their food supply. Hoping to find food on the jungle island, he asked Zoro to bring back some meat. This led to a heated argument, with Zoro insisting he could catch more. Determined to prove himself, Sanji challenged Zoro to a hunting competition, and they both set off into the jungle.

Sanji encountered and defeated a dinosaur, bringing it back to the ship. However, as time passed and no one else returned, he grew suspicious and went back into the jungle. By chance, he stumbled upon a wax house, where he briefly enjoyed a cup of tea before hearing a Den Den Mushi ring. Answering it, he was shocked to find himself speaking to Crocodile, the leader of Baroque Works.

Realizing the house belonged to one of Crocodile’s agents, Sanji pretended to be Mr. 3 and tricked Crocodile into believing he had eliminated Vivi and the Straw Hats. While doing this, he was attacked by Mr. 13 and Miss Friday, whom he swiftly defeated. Before leaving, he took an Eternal Pose to Arabasta meant for the real Mr. 3 and hurried off to find his crew.

Sanji eventually reunited with the others, along with two friendly giants. He was relieved to see Vivi and Nami safe and was especially pleased when he caught a glimpse of Nami without her shirt due to the earlier battle. After explaining his conversation with Crocodile, he revealed the Eternal Pose, much to the crew’s delight. Following a brief argument with Zoro over the hunting contest winner, the Straw Hats set sail once more. With help from the giants in defeating a giant goldfish, they finally left Little Garden behind.

Drum Island Arc

Sanji was deeply shaken when he learned that Nami’s illness could be fatal. He assured the crew he had done everything he could nutritionally, but they needed a doctor. The crew set sail for the nearest island in search of help.

Upon arriving at Drum Island, Sanji joined Luffy in carrying Nami to the witch doctor said to live in an abandoned castle. Along the way, they defeated a young Lapahn, angering the adult Lapahns, who attacked them. During the struggle, Sanji protected Luffy and Nami but was critically injured. Despite this, Luffy carried both him and Nami up the mountain. After helping a trapped Lapahn, the creatures assisted Luffy in reaching the top while fending off Wapol and his men.

After recovering, Sanji attempted to catch Chopper, hoping to cook him into a stew for Nami. However, upon seeing Chopper’s transformations, he was shocked and quickly accepted Luffy’s desire to recruit him. While Luffy chased Chopper, Sanji and Nami listened to Dr. Kureha share Chopper’s tragic past. Their conversation was interrupted when Chopper rushed in, announcing Wapol’s return.

Sanji joined Luffy in fighting Wapol and his minions, Chess and Kuromarimo. However, during the battle, Sanji was burned by Kuromarimo’s flaming hair attack. Dr. Kureha pinned him down to prevent further injury, leaving Luffy and Chopper to handle the fight. Despite Sanji’s inability to continue, Luffy and Chopper successfully defeated Wapol and his followers.

After Wapol’s defeat, Chopper initially declined Luffy’s offer to join the crew, but Luffy insisted, and Chopper happily accepted. With their new crew member aboard, Sanji and the rest of the Straw Hats continued their journey.

Arabasta Arc

While the crew met Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, Sanji was below deck. Once they arrived in Alabasta, he went to buy desert clothes but got dancers’ outfits for Nami and Vivi instead. During their journey, Sanji grew annoyed with Luffy for losing their food but helped defeat a Sandora Lizard along the way.

In Rainbase, the crew split up to escape the Marines. Sanji and Chopper were the only ones not captured by Crocodile. Sanji tricked Crocodile by pretending to be "Mr. Prince" and lured him outside. With Chopper’s help, he snuck into Rain Dinners and freed the crew using Mr. 3’s wax key. They then rushed to Alubarna to stop the battle between the rebels and the royal army.

Sanji was confronted by Bon Kurei, whose ability let him take on Nami’s appearance, exploiting Sanji’s weakness. However, Sanji found Bon Kurei’s flaw—he couldn’t fight properly in Nami’s form—and used it to win. Instead of finishing him off, Sanji praised their fight and took Usopp’s stolen goggles back.

Later, the crew helped Vivi find and stop a bomb meant to destroy Alubarna. Although the cannon was disabled, the bomb was still set to explode. Pell sacrificed himself by flying the bomb away, saving the city. Even after the explosion, the battle continued until Crocodile’s defeat brought rain, ending the war.

Three days later, the crew celebrated their victory with Vivi and the royal family before quietly preparing to leave. At the ship, they found Bon Kurei, who had protected it. When the Marines arrived, Bon Kurei sacrificed himself to let the crew escape.

Vivi arrived at their meeting spot but chose to stay in Alabasta. She asked if they still considered her a friend, and in response, the crew silently raised their left arms, showing the ‘X’ mark of their bond. Moved to tears, Vivi did the same as the crew sailed away to continue their adventure.

Jaya Arc

Sanji was disappointed that Vivi didn’t join the crew, but his mood improved when Nico Robin, formerly Miss All-Sunday, stowed away on their ship and asked to join. To his delight, Luffy agreed.

Soon after, a massive ship fell from the sky. Robin explained that it came from an island called Skypiea. To investigate, Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro dived into the sunken ship using special suits made by Usopp. However, their search was interrupted when the ship was suddenly filled with air, and they had to fight off intruders. They also ran into Masira, a monkey-like salvager, and narrowly escaped both him and a giant turtle that ate the ship. Later, they saw mysterious giant shadows in the ocean before discovering an Eternal Pose leading to Jaya, where they hoped to learn more about Skypiea.

Upon reaching Jaya’s Mock Town, Sanji stayed behind to guard the ship while Luffy and the others explored. When they returned injured, they learned that a man named Mont Blanc Cricket might have the answers they needed. On their way to him, they encountered Masira’s brother, Shoujou, but managed to escape.

At Cricket’s home, a misunderstanding led to a brief fight, but they stopped when they realized he was suffering from decompression sickness. After helping him recover, they learned that Cricket was a descendant of Mont Blanc Noland, a man known as a liar in Sanji’s home seas. Moved by his story, they convinced him to help them reach Skypiea.

To find the Knock Up Stream needed to propel their ship into the sky, they had to capture a South Bird. Sanji teamed up with Nami and Usopp to search for it, though he was hilariously terrified of spiders. Thanks to Robin, they caught the bird and returned to Cricket, only to find he and his allies had been robbed by pirates from Mock Town. While Luffy went to retrieve the stolen gold, Sanji and the others stayed behind to tend to Cricket’s wounds and prepare the ship.

After Luffy returned, the crew set sail toward the Knock Up Stream with help from Masira and Shoujou. As they prepared to ride the powerful current, they encountered Marshall D. Teach, who had come to capture Luffy and Zoro due to their new bounties. To Sanji’s disappointment, he didn’t receive one. Before a fight could break out, the Knock Up Stream launched the Going Merry into the sky, sending them on their way to Skypiea while escaping Teach’s crew.

Skypiea Arc

After a rough ride into the sky, Sanji and the Straw Hats arrived in a sea of clouds. As they explored, they were attacked by a masked assailant and easily defeated due to the thin air. Luckily, they were saved by a sky knight named Gan Fall and his pet bird, Pierre. The crew then sailed through the White Sea and reached Heaven’s Gate, where they unknowingly entered Skypiea illegally.

At Angel Beach, they met Conis and her father, Pagaya, who welcomed them. Sanji was immediately smitten with Conis. While they learned about Skypiea, Nami disappeared after testing a dial-powered waver.

They soon discovered she had gone near Upper Yard, a forbidden land. Before they could look for her, the White Berets accused them of illegal entry and fined them. When Nami accidentally knocked down their leader, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji quickly fought off the Berets, but this only increased their penalty. Realizing they were in trouble, the crew decided to leave.

As Sanji prepared for the journey at Conis’ house, he, Luffy, and Usopp saw their ship and crewmates being taken away by a giant sky shrimp. Pagaya explained they were being taken to Upper Yard for judgment. Sanji and his two companions had no choice but to follow and attempt a rescue.

Guided by Conis, they reached a dock where she provided them with a gondola to reach Upper Yard. However, Conis and the other villagers acted strangely. She soon confessed that she had been forced to summon the shrimp but helped them out of guilt. Before they could react, Enel struck her with a massive lightning bolt as punishment for speaking the truth.

Thankfully, Gan Fall arrived in time to save Conis. With him promising to protect her, Sanji and his crew set off for Upper Yard to rescue their friends.

As Sanji and his crew searched for their kidnapped crewmates in Upper Yard, they stumbled upon one of Enel’s trials. There, they faced Satori, one of Enel’s priests, who could predict their attacks and deliver powerful blows. With tricks hidden in the surrounding clouds, Satori proved to be a tough opponent. He knocked them off their boat and sent it adrift.

During the battle, Luffy managed to grab Satori, giving Sanji the chance to attack. Furious about the kidnapping of their crew, Sanji delivered a powerful kick, knocking Satori out. With Usopp retrieving their boat, the trio pressed on, unaware of the consequences of defeating the priest.

The rest of their journey through the forest was uneventful, except for a brief encounter with Wyper, a warrior from the guerrilla forces. Eventually, they reunited with their crew at the sacrificial altar. That night, Nami revealed that Upper Yard was actually a lost part of Jaya from Mont Blanc Noland’s legend. Excited by the possibility of gold, the crew decided to search for it.

By morning, they found the Going Merry mysteriously repaired. Sanji, Nami, and Usopp set out to sail the ship closer to the ruins where the gold was said to be. Along the way, Gan Fall, who had joined them, explained Skypiea’s history, the power of Dials, and Mantra, which allowed people to predict movements.

However, their journey was interrupted when Enel suddenly appeared. Using his lightning powers, he easily knocked out Sanji and Usopp. While unconscious, they were protected by Nami and Gan Fall until Conis and her father arrived to help treat their wounds.

After recovering, Sanji woke to find Nami missing. He spotted her aboard Enel’s flying ship, Maxim, and immediately launched a rescue mission with Usopp. Sneaking aboard, Sanji sabotaged the ship’s machinery before arriving in time to save Usopp and Nami from Enel. Though he was electrocuted, his interference disrupted Enel’s plans. Unconscious again, he was carried back to the Straw Hats by Usopp. Sanji later woke to the sound of the legendary golden bell ringing, signaling Luffy’s victory over Enel.

With the battle over, the crew celebrated with the people of Skypiea, partying for days. Eventually, Luffy woke them up, eager to collect treasure from inside the giant snake, Nola. As they grabbed their loot and prepared to leave, they saw the Skypieans and Shandians carrying what looked like a massive cannon. Mistakenly believing they were in trouble for stealing, they quickly fled. In reality, the people had intended to gift them a golden pillar.

Escaping on the Going Merry, the crew was taken to Cloud’s End by Conis, where a Balloon Octopus gently carried them back down to the Blue Sea. As they descended, they heard the golden bell ringing once more in their honor.

Long Ring Long Land Arc

After their adventure in Skypiea, Sanji and the Straw Hats returned to the Blue Sea. While sailing through the Grand Line, they discussed what to do with the gold they had collected. Soon, they arrived at a new island. While Luffy and a few others went to explore, Sanji and the rest stayed behind on the Going Merry, only to be ambushed by the Foxy Pirates.

The Foxy Pirates challenged them to a Davy Back Fight, a pirate game where crews could steal members from each other. Sanji and Robin explained the rules, and knowing their pride was at stake, the crew accepted. Sanji, Zoro, and Chopper were set to compete in the second event, the Groggy Ring.

However, after Foxy cheated in the first round, the Straw Hats lost Chopper to the enemy team. Now, Sanji and Zoro had to compete shorthanded against the massive Groggy Monsters.

Still from the anime`

Sanji was forced to be the "ball" in the game, meaning he had to avoid being dunked into the goal. At first, he and Zoro struggled due to their rivalry, while the enemy team worked together. To make matters worse, the referee was biased, allowing the Foxy Pirates to cheat. Sanji was even given a penalty for attacking the corrupt referee.

Beaten badly, Sanji and Zoro finally put aside their differences and fought as a team. They countered the Groggy Monsters’ strongest attack and used their own skills to take out the opponents. In the end, Zoro dunked the enemy’s "ball," Big Pan, into the goal, securing victory. With their win, they reclaimed Chopper.

Next, Luffy faced Foxy in the final round, a one-on-one fight. Despite Foxy’s tricks, Luffy won, impressing Sanji and the crew. As their reward, they could take a Foxy Pirate, but instead of choosing a crew member, Luffy took their Jolly Roger and replaced it with a new one he designed. With that, the Straw Hats left the Foxy Pirates behind.

Afterward, they went to visit Tonjit, a friend Luffy had made earlier. However, they encountered an unexpected guest—Marine Admiral Aokiji. Though Aokiji seemed friendly at first, he soon revealed himself as a threat, especially to Robin. When the crew tried to fight back, Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy were partially frozen by Aokiji’s ice powers.

With Robin completely frozen, Sanji and the others retreated to thaw out. Once recovered, he and Zoro rushed back to help Luffy but found him frozen solid as well. Fortunately, the crew managed to thaw him out, though they were left exhausted from the battle. After Luffy and Robin recovered, the Straw Hats continued their journey, now more aware of the dangers ahead.

Water 7 Arc

As the Straw Hats sailed toward their next destination, they encountered a giant frog named Yokozuna and a train running on water, the Puffing Tom. At a nearby station, Kokoro and her granddaughter Chimney explained that the train connected various islands, including Water 7, a city famous for its shipwrights. Hearing this, the crew decided to visit Water 7 to find a shipwright and repair the Going Merry. Sanji, of course, hoped to find an attractive female shipwright.

After arriving, most of the crew went ahead while Sanji stayed behind to shop for supplies. While exploring, he spotted Robin walking into an alley with a masked figure. Thinking it was Chopper, he ran after them, but they disappeared before he could reach them. When he later met Chopper and realized the masked figure wasn’t him, Sanji grew suspicious, remembering Aokiji’s warning about Robin. With no answers, he and Chopper returned to the ship to wait for her.

Back at the Going Merry, things got worse. Zoro revealed that a shipwright had deemed Merry beyond repair, and Nami informed them that Usopp had been attacked by the Franky Family while carrying most of their money. Together with Chopper and Zoro, Sanji followed the trail of blood left behind by Usopp.

When they arrived at the Franky Family's hideout, they found Usopp badly beaten outside. Furious, Sanji and the crew stormed the hideout and defeated the gang, but the money was already gone. With Robin still missing and Merry deemed unusable, they had no choice but to return to the ship and face the truth—Merry couldn’t be saved.

While most of the crew accepted this, Usopp refused. His disagreement with Luffy escalated into a duel for ownership of the ship. Sanji and the others could only watch as Usopp fought hard but ultimately lost. When Chopper tried to help Usopp, Sanji stopped him, explaining that treating Usopp after his loss would only hurt his pride. With the crew shaken by the outcome, they left Usopp behind and rented a room in the city.

Sanji later waited at the peninsula, hoping to tell Robin what had happened, but she never showed up. After briefly returning to the hotel, he and Chopper went searching for her. Before they could begin, Nami brought troubling news—Iceburg, the mayor of Water 7 and head of the Galley-La Company, had been shot. Since the crew needed him for ship-related matters, this was a major problem. While searching for Robin, Sanji and Chopper also learned that the yearly high tide, Aqua Laguna, was approaching.

Worried that Usopp might not know about the incoming storm, they indirectly warned him. Meanwhile, chaos erupted in Water 7 when Robin was suspected of being involved in Iceburg’s shooting. With the city on high alert, Sanji and Chopper, who weren’t identified as her associates, continued their search unnoticed.

Sanji and Chopper finally found Robin, but she confirmed their worst fears—she was responsible for the attack on Iceburg and wanted to leave the crew. Though she gave her reasons, Sanji refused to believe her and sent Chopper to inform the others while he investigated further.

Suspecting that Robin would leave on the next Sea Train, Sanji waited at the station. His hunch was right—she arrived with government agents, Marines, and two captives: Usopp and Franky. With the train about to depart and the others too far away, Sanji left a note for Nami and secretly boarded the Puffing Tom.

Inside the train, Sanji fought through the last car, defeating the agents there before reuniting with Usopp and Franky. He freed them and contacted Nami, who revealed the truth behind Robin’s actions. Determined to rescue her, Sanji teamed up with Franky, while Usopp rejoined them disguised as Sogeking. To thin out their enemies, they tricked most of the Marines into the last two cars and detached them.

As they moved forward, Sanji stayed behind to fight Wanze, a government agent and chef who used noodle-based attacks. Using his culinary skills, Sanji cut through Wanze’s ramen suit and defeated him. Afterward, he reunited with Franky and encountered CP9, the powerful agents who had taken Robin. Sanji was disgusted by their cruelty, but before he could act, Sogeking managed to grab Robin using a smokescreen.

Attempting to escape, Sanji and the others detached more train cars, but CP9 still caught up. Robin, however, refused to be rescued. To help them get away, Franky sacrificed himself. Despite this, a CP9 agent used their Devil Fruit powers to take Robin back. With no way to stop them, Sanji and Sogeking could only wait for their allies to catch up.

Enies Lobby Arc

As they arrived at Enies Lobby, the Rocket Man landed on Oimo’s back. Everyone except Luffy rode Sodom and Gomorrah to the Courthouse, where they lined up on the roof and convinced Robin to let them save her. When the bridge wasn’t fully lowered, Kokoro used the Rocket Man to help. Luffy pulled everyone down as he jumped onto the train, crash-landing them into the Tower of Justice.

There, Fukurou revealed that a key was needed to free Robin. The crew split up to fight CP9 and find the keys. Sanji faced Kalifa but refused to hit her due to his chivalry, leaving him at a disadvantage. He was later freed from her Devil Fruit’s effects when water spilled on him during Chopper’s rampage.

Sanji then took over Usopp’s fight against Jabra, introducing himself as "the hunter" and defeating Jabra with his new Diable Jambe attack, securing a key. Later, he and Zoro cheered for Usopp’s sharpshooting as he hit Spandam. They carried Usopp to the escape tunnel but nearly drowned when it flooded. Kokoro, who turned out to be a mermaid, saved them—much to Sanji’s disappointment, as she didn’t match his dream of beautiful mermaids.

As the crew stole a ship to escape, Sanji secretly closed the Gate of Justice, causing whirlpools that disrupted the Marines. However, their escape ship exploded. Just then, they heard a voice telling them to jump into the sea. Realizing it was the Going Merry, they leaped and escaped with Nami’s navigation.

Though they safely fled Enies Lobby, the Going Merry suddenly broke apart. Iceburg arrived just in time to rescue them. Luffy gave the ship a Viking funeral as the crew tearfully said goodbye—though Sanji and Zoro kept a straight face.

Post-Enies Lobby Arc

Sanji helped cook for the festival the Straw Hats and their allies held, which nearly drained all their remaining money.

He received his first bounty of 77,000,000 berries and the nickname "Black Leg," a contrast to his mentor Zeff, the "Red Leg." However, he was horrified by his wanted poster, as the Marines used a terrible sketch instead of a photo.

In a flashback, Sanji told Luffy that Usopp was rehearsing how to rejoin the crew. While Luffy was eager to welcome him back, Zoro insisted Usopp had to apologize properly or he wouldn’t accept it. The crew agreed with Zoro’s stance.

After waiting for the Thousand Sunny to be completed, they were forced to depart in a hurry when Garp decided to pursue them. As they left, Usopp finally apologized, and the crew happily accepted him back.

Sanji then helped defend the ship from Garp’s attack, but they ultimately escaped using the Coup de Burst and set sail for Fish-Man Island.

Thriller Bark Arc

While sailing on the Thousand Sunny, Sanji and the crew found a mysterious barrel floating in the ocean. When they opened it, a flash shot up, triggering a sudden storm. After braving the storm, they came across a ghost ship.

Worried for Nami’s safety as she joined Luffy in exploring, Sanji went aboard with them. There, they met Brook, a talking skeleton, which left Sanji full of questions. To his shock, Luffy immediately invited Brook to join the crew, and Brook accepted.

Back on the Sunny, Brook suggested having dinner, and Sanji agreed to cook. During the meal, Sanji was appalled by Brook’s bad manners as he shared his past. Just as Brook was about to play his violin, a ghost appeared, and the gates of Thriller Bark suddenly closed. Brook hurried toward the island, leaving the Straw Hats puzzled.

Curious about Franky’s new vehicle, Nami, Usopp, and Chopper took it for a test ride but crashed. After hearing Nami scream, Sanji set out to find her but was stopped by an invisible figure. The figure grabbed him, slammed him into the ship, tripped him, and even licked Robin before disappearing.

When the Sunny got caught in a massive spider web, Sanji and the crew descended to the island. They encountered strange creatures, including a three-headed dog, a talking tree, and a unicorn. Sanji had to stop Luffy from recruiting the tree. They then met ghosts that drained their willpower, but they quickly recovered and defeated some zombies with a powerful combo attack.

An old man told them Gecko Moria had stolen his shadow, urging them to stop him. As they pressed forward, Sanji was kidnapped and had his shadow placed in a zombie called Inuppe. The crew later found Sanji, Zoro, and Luffy on the Sunny, decorated by zombies. Upon learning that Nami was being forced into a wedding with Absalom, Sanji became determined to stop it.

After the crew split up, Sanji, Usopp, Franky, and Zoro ended up in Perona's room. When they realized only Usopp could resist Perona’s ghosts, Sanji left to rescue Nami. He reached the wedding chapel and fought Absalom, easily overpowering him due to his rage. However, he took some hits while protecting Nami.

Later, Sanji joined the crew in fighting Oars. He played a key role by flipping Oars over with his powerful Anti-Manner Kick Course. When Gecko Moria took control of Oars, the fight became even tougher. Sanji used his Diable Jambe to redirect a massive attack away from Robin but was eventually knocked down by Oars' powerful punches.

As the crew struggled, Luffy arrived in his "Nightmare Luffy" form and knocked Oars down, but it wasn’t enough. The crew worked together, and Sanji kicked Thriller Bark's rudder chain around Oars, helping set up Luffy’s final attack. After Luffy defeated Moria, their shadows returned just in time to save them from dying.

However, Bartholomew Kuma arrived to eliminate the crew. Sanji’s attacks had no effect on him, and Kuma gave them a choice: surrender Luffy or die. When Kuma used Ursus Shock, the entire crew was knocked out. Sanji stayed conscious and tried to bargain for Luffy’s life, but Zoro knocked him out to take the burden himself. When Sanji woke up, he found Zoro severely wounded and later learned that Zoro had absorbed all of Luffy’s pain to protect him. Sanji kept this secret from the rest of the crew.

The crew celebrated their victory with the Thriller Bark survivors. Brook played "Binks’ Sake" on the piano, and Sanji enjoyed the party. Before leaving Thriller Bark, Sanji was excited to head to Fish-Man Island, especially after learning that mermaids don’t wear panties, which caused both him and Brook to get nosebleeds.

Sabaody Archipelago Arc

After leaving Thriller Bark, Sanji was excited about reaching Fish-Man Island, eager to see mermaids. When the crew rescued Camie near the Red Line, Sanji was overjoyed but soon got involved in helping her save her friend, Hatchan, from the slave trader Duval.

At the Flying Fish Riders' base, Sanji fought alongside the crew to defeat Duval’s gang. He then learned that Duval hated him because he looked exactly like Sanji’s terrible wanted poster, which had ruined his life. Annoyed, Sanji kicked Duval’s face repeatedly with his Parrage Shot, unintentionally making him handsome and ending their conflict.

While the other Straw Hats explored Sabaody Archipelago, Sanji stayed on the ship. When Camie was kidnapped, he called in Duval and his newly renamed Rosy Life Riders to help find her. They discovered she was at the Human Auction House, where Sanji joined the crew in fighting after Luffy punched a World Noble. Later, they regrouped with Silvers Rayleigh, who revealed the truth about Gol D. Roger’s execution.

Rayleigh agreed to coat the Thousand Sunny, but it would take three days. The crew decided to split up and lay low while waiting. However, they were soon confronted by a cyborg that looked like Bartholomew Kuma. Sanji, Luffy, and Zoro fought together, landing a powerful combo attack, but realized their opponent was actually a Pacifista, a robotic replica of Kuma.

After a tough battle, they destroyed the Pacifista but were then attacked by another one, along with the admiral Kizaru. As the crew tried to escape, Sanji fought bravely, but he was badly injured by a laser attack. Just as things seemed hopeless, the real Kuma appeared and made Zoro vanish. When Sanji tried to attack Kuma, he was also teleported away.

Straw Hat Separation Adventure: Kamabakka Kingdom

After being sent flying by Kuma, Sanji landed on Momoiro Island in Kamabakka Kingdom, a pink land inhabited by transvestites. Horrified, he ran for his life as they eagerly chased him through the beach and castle. At some point, they managed to catch him and dress him up in a frilly outfit with makeup.

Post-War Arc

Sanji, back to his normal self, tried to convince Ivankov that he was part of Luffy’s crew, but Ivankov didn’t believe him due to his terrible wanted poster. Suspicious that Sanji might be a government spy, Ivankov refused to share any information about Luffy. Frustrated, Sanji’s exhaustion grew, and the okamas attempted to dress him up again, but he angrily refused.

Determined to leave, Sanji fought Ivankov for a boat but lost. Instead, Ivankov handed him a newspaper with news about Luffy. After reading it, Sanji found something interesting but refused to reveal it, annoying Ivankov.

Sanji then learned about the "Attack Cuisine" of Kamabakka Kingdom, which had powerful effects. Wanting to use it to help his crew, he asked Ivankov for the recipe, but Ivankov refused and instead gave him a challenge: defeat the 99 masters of Newkama Kenpo scattered across the island. Each victory would earn him a recipe, but he would also be relentlessly pursued by the okamas trying to dress him up. If he won, he would get all the recipes and a ship; if he lost, his manhood was at risk. Knowing he needed to get stronger, Sanji accepted the challenge.

Return to Sabaody Arc

After two years, Sanji completed Ivankov’s challenge and even changed which eye his hair covered. The okamas gave him a ride back to Sabaody Archipelago, where he was overjoyed to see real women again. Before leaving, he thanked them for the ride but made it clear he would never return to Momoiro Island. Excited, he ran off to find Nami and Robin, declaring he had returned from “hell.”

At Shakky’s Rip-off Bar, Sanji was furious to learn that Zoro was the first to arrive but happy to see Nami. He also thanked Duval for protecting the Thousand Sunny and commented that Luffy must have gotten stronger under Rayleigh’s training.

Later, he asked a fisherman for some fish but overheard him worrying about a green-haired man who accidentally boarded a pirate ship. Suspecting it was Zoro, Sanji showed the man Zoro’s wanted poster, and after confirmation, assured him not to worry. Soon after, a massive ship was cut in half, revealing Zoro’s handiwork.

Reuniting with Zoro, Sanji forced him back to the Sunny, annoyed that he might get lost again. They started their usual argument, with Sanji boasting about his stronger legs after training in “hell.” While speaking to Franky on a Den Den Mushi, Sanji and Zoro bickered again before hearing a commotion. Investigating, they found Luffy, the Marines, Pacifistas, and a fake Straw Hat crew.

Sanji and Zoro quickly took down a Pacifista with a Diable Jambe kick and a slash, then rushed to the ship with Luffy. Along the way, they met Rayleigh, and when Luffy declared he would be Pirate King, Sanji simply smiled.

As they escaped, Marines attacked, but Perona helped with her Negative Hollows. Sanji stared at her pervertedly, making her question if he was sick. Soon after, Chopper and a giant bird carried the trio back to the ship. Upon seeing Robin and Nami again, Sanji suffered a massive nosebleed.

Fish-Man Island Arc

Later, when Boa Hancock helped the Straw Hats by stopping a Marine ship, Sanji "turned to stone" at the sight of her and became jealous of Luffy for knowing her. He then felt a strange pain, sensing his okama friends cheering for him. With the Marines held back, the crew submerged and headed for Fish-Man Island.

While sailing underwater, the crew marveled at the ocean world. Sanji got a massive nosebleed just from watching Nami move and accidentally launched himself out of the ship, forcing Luffy to pull him back in. When Franky mentioned Kuma’s role in protecting the Sunny, Sanji bitterly complained about being sent to Momoiro Island while Luffy got to train on Amazon Lily. Brook tried to cheer him up with a song, but Sanji refused, saying it would only make him feel worse.

As they descended deeper, the Straw Hats were ambushed by the Caribou Pirates, but their seacow, Momoo, fled in fear upon seeing Nami, Sanji, and Luffy. Caribou was left behind and captured. When he looked at Nami in a perverted way, Sanji kicked him but then suffered another severe nosebleed and needed a blood transfusion from Chopper.

The crew soon encountered a giant Kraken. To fight it, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji used Flutter Kick Coating to move underwater. Sanji showed off his new skills, helping Luffy land a knockout punch. However, because they weren’t wearing life-lines, the trio got separated from the ship as it plunged down an underwater waterfall. Luffy later tamed the Kraken, naming it Surume. When the Monster Trio found the ship, Surume saved them from an Umibouzo. Just then, an undersea volcano erupted.

While the crew worked to escape, Sanji distracted himself with pictures of Nami and Robin as “rehabilitation therapy.” When he asked Nami how much farther Fish-Man Island was, he had another nosebleed. Surume carried the ship through a trench to safety. Upon reaching Fish-Man Island, Sanji became obsessed with seeing mermaids. Chopper warned that the sight could kill him due to excessive blood loss, but Sanji declared he’d rather die than miss the chance to see them.

Soon, the crew was confronted by Hammond and his sea monster gang, who demanded the Straw Hats either join the New Fish-Man Pirates or die. Luffy refused, and as Hammond prepared to attack, Franky activated Coup de Burst, launching the ship through Fish-Man Island’s bubble. The crew then got caught in a current and were separated.

Sanji, Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper reunited with Camie at her home, where she introduced them to the Medaka Mermaid Quintuplets. When Camie mentioned they were in the Mermaid Café’s female dorm, Sanji almost got a nosebleed but controlled himself, vowing not to pass out while on Fish-Man Island.

Camie then took them to Mermaid Cove, where Sanji finally met the mermaids of his dreams. Overjoyed, he cried tears of happiness, calling it the "All Blue" and saying he could die happy. As he played with the mermaids, he declared he would live on Fish-Man Island forever.

When a royal gondola arrived, the group hid. One mermaid, Ishilly, hugged Sanji to conceal him, pressing her chest against his face. Unable to handle it, Sanji suffered a massive nosebleed, exposing their location. Since Chopper had no blood of Sanji’s rare type left, they desperately searched for a donor.

Hammond and his group arrived and explained that Fish-Man Island had a law preventing blood transfusions between fish-men and humans, due to how Fisher Tiger died after being denied human blood. When Hammond tried to capture them, Luffy fought him off, and Camie stole the royal gondola to take them to the town port.

At Madam Shyarly’s Mermaid Café, they found shelter and finally got blood donors for Sanji—two okamas, much to his horror. Later, the Ammo Knights arrived to arrest him and Chopper due to Shyarly’s prediction and false accusations of mermaid kidnappings. Chopper warned Sanji that seeing the Mermaid Princess could kill him, but Sanji ignored him and fought off the knights.

Sanji and Chopper then found a wounded Hatchan, who warned of an attack by the New Fish-Man Pirates. As Chopper treated him, island citizens accused them of kidnapping mermaids. Meanwhile, Luffy, riding on Megalo above them, saw what was happening and jumped down. Unable to hold on any longer, Megalo spit out Princess Shirahoshi. The citizens believed this was a kidnapping, and Chopper frantically yelled at Sanji not to turn around—if he saw the princess, another nosebleed could truly kill him.

Sanji, despite knowing the risk, turned around to see the Mermaid Princess. Instead of a nosebleed, he became petrified. The citizens tied up Sanji and his friends, but Vander Decken IX’s arrival interrupted them. Luffy defeated Decken and checked on Sanji, who returned to normal. The group, including the princess, then escaped on Megalo and headed for the Sea Forest.

At the Sea Forest, they reunited with Franky, Den, and Jinbe. Sanji flirted with Shirahoshi, but surprisingly, he acted normal around Nami, showing he was cured of his nosebleed problem. When Nami and Camie arrived with news of Hody Jones’ rampage, Jinbe decided to explain the history of fish-men and his role in setting Arlong loose in the East Blue.

Before Jinbe began, Sanji served tea to Nami, Camie, and Shirahoshi, but Nami dismissed him, saying it wasn’t the time. When Jinbe admitted to freeing Arlong, Sanji, recalling Nami’s suffering, warned him that his words would determine if he could be forgiven. After hearing Jinbe’s story about Queen Otohime, Fisher Tiger, and the fish-men’s past, Sanji remained angry but calmed down when Nami said she didn’t blame Jinbe.

Sanji then kicked a sleeping Luffy, annoyed that he slept through everything. Hatchan was about to reveal Hody’s plan when a visual Den Den Mushi broadcasted Hody’s speech. The group listened as Hody announced his takeover, the execution of Neptune, and the imprisonment of Zoro, Usopp, and Brook. Sanji remarked that the New Fish-Man Pirates were picking a fight, and Luffy declared he would fight Hody. However, Jinbe tried to stop him.

Luffy and Jinbe fought over their disagreement, but a duplicate of Robin appeared between them. Sanji tried to rescue "Robin," but it was just an illusion, causing Luffy and Jinbe to crash into him instead. After Robin revealed herself, Sanji asked Hatchan if Hody was responsible for his injuries, but Hatchan avoided answering. Sanji told Jinbe they couldn’t ignore the New Fish-Man Pirates, as the Straw Hats had their own reasons to fight. Jinbe then proposed a plan to make Luffy a hero instead of a villain. Following the plan, Sanji went to Ryugu Palace to find Zoro, Usopp, Brook, and Pappug.

Sanji joined the Straw Hats at Gyoncorde Plaza to fight the New Fish-Man Pirates. As the battle started, he calculated how many enemies each member needed to face. When Luffy unleashed Supreme King Haki, Sanji was impressed. He then fought the Sea Urchin Spike Squadron and used his new “Sky Walk” ability to evade attacks. He also protected Shirahoshi and kicked Ikaros away when he tried to attack Luffy.

As Noah approached the island, Sanji tried to follow but was stopped by Luffy, who asked him to handle the plaza instead. Later, when Wadatsumi fell and knocked over Nami, Sanji angrily kicked him. He and Jinbe then fought Wadatsumi together. After Luffy defeated Hody, Sanji and Jinbe executed their plan—Jinbe struck Wadatsumi, forcing him to expel air, and Sanji followed up with a fiery kick, sending the giant crashing down.

With the battle over, the Straw Hats watched as Luffy attempted to destroy Noah, but the Sea Kings intervened and saved the island. Later, Sanji lay beside the Sunny, jealous that Robin gave Chopper attention instead of him. He also witnessed Chopper performing a blood transfusion on Luffy using Jinbe’s blood.

As the crew prepared to leave, Sanji suggested staying at the Mermaid Café for a week. During the honorary banquet, he was overjoyed when mermaid dancers performed. However, he turned to stone after being surrounded by mermaids. He later listened to Jinbe’s recap of the past two years.

When Luffy sensed something strange in the palace, Sanji and Zoro investigated and found Shirahoshi being absorbed by Caribou. Luffy knocked Caribou out, and Shirahoshi hugged him, making Sanji jealous. When Nami realized Caribou had stolen the palace treasures, she scolded the Monster Trio for letting him escape. They tracked down Caribou, recovered the treasure, and encountered Big Mom’s messengers, Pekoms and Tamago. Sanji, thinking Big Mom was an attractive woman, was shocked to learn otherwise. He also listened as Tamago explained that the island would be destroyed if the candy payment wasn’t made. He was present when Luffy declared war on Big Mom.

Back at the palace, the Monster Trio was beaten by Nami for giving away the treasure. As they prepared to leave, Sanji wished to stay another year to see Shirahoshi, but Zoro insulted him, leading to their usual bickering. Sanji said goodbye to the mermaids, calling them the “All Blue” of his dreams. After promising Shirahoshi to take her to the surface someday, the Straw Hats left Fish-Man Island for the New World.

On the way, Sanji joined Brook in peeping on Nami but was electrocuted by her Thunder Tempo. He later got excited about cooking deep-sea fish. When the crew finally reached the New World, Sanji marveled at the raging flame seas ahead.

Punk Hazard Arc

The Straw Hat Pirates entered the New World and spotted an island surrounded by flames. While eating, they received a distress call about a samurai in trouble. Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, and Robin fought a dragon while Sanji found the rest of the crew unconscious from sleeping gas. He tried to warn the others but fainted before reaching the Den Den Mushi. Everyone except Brook was captured.

The captured crew woke up in a cell and found a samurai’s talking head. After reassembling it, they learned more about the island. Franky blasted a hole in the wall, and the group escaped, taking the samurai’s head with them. While running, they found a room full of children who begged for help. Though Sanji wanted to leave, Nami insisted on rescuing them. Sanji and Franky fought off their masked pursuers, discovering they had goat-like features. The group later ran into G-5 Marines, Smoker, Tashigi, and Trafalgar Law.

To escape, they ran in a different direction, but Law swapped their personalities. Sanji ended up in Nami’s body and immediately tried to take advantage of it, which frustrated Nami. The crew regrouped and learned about Caesar Clown. Sanji, still in Nami’s body, joined Brook and Zoro to search for Kin’emon’s torso. Meanwhile, Chopper discovered the children were being drugged.

Sanji’s group followed giant footprints and encountered the Yeti Cool Brothers. They were knocked out by sleeping gas and fell off a cliff, but Zoro destroyed an icicle trap before losing consciousness. When Caesar’s men arrived, Sanji woke up, defeated them, and revived Zoro and Brook. They found Kin’emon frozen and revived him. As they continued, they encountered Brownbeard’s men, who fled, and then saw a strange slime moving mysteriously.

Sanji watched the strange slime launch itself across the lake while Brook mentioned reading about it in a book. As fish floated to the surface, poisoned by the slime’s toxins, Sanji jumped into the lake to search for Kin’emon’s torso. Using Observation Haki, he located it inside a shark’s mouth, kicked the shark, and retrieved the torso before escaping as the poison spread.

After reattaching Kin’emon’s body, they found themselves surrounded by the slime. Kin’emon used his fire-cutting technique to clear a path, and the group fled from Smiley. As they ran, they saw a giant candy left by Caesar and a small dragon created by Vegapunk. When Smiley exploded, releasing a poisonous gas cloud, they ran even faster. Spotting the dragon flying away, Zoro suggested using it to escape. Sanji, motivated by his perverse nature, caught the dragon, allowing them to ride it. They met up with Nami’s group and entered Caesar’s lab after Zoro and Kin’emon cut through the iron shutters.

Inside, the G-5 Marines tried to arrest them, but Law intervened. Nami demanded that Law switch her and Sanji’s bodies back, and though Sanji protested, Law complied. Nami, realizing Sanji had peeped, punched him. After regrouping, they planned their escape, splitting into teams. Sanji joined Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Brook, and Kin’emon to rescue the kidnapped children.

As they ran, a cannon blast let the poison gas into Building A. The group barely escaped to Building B. Sanji sensed an enemy approaching and went back to confront him, saving the Marines and Tashigi from Vergo. He fought fiercely, realizing Vergo’s body was as hard as iron, but his leg was injured in the battle. As the gas spread, he managed to escape with two Marines.

Sanji and the group ran through a burning area where an explosion let more gas in. He kicked the Marines to safety before reaching the Biscuits Room, where Zoro was fighting Monet. After briefly arguing with Zoro, Sanji left him and Tashigi to handle Monet and continued toward Nami and Robin.

Sanji arrived just in time to help Chopper and the Marines sedate the berserk children. Once Luffy defeated Caesar, the crew reunited and escaped using a rail cart.

After defeating Buffalo and Baby 5 and capturing Caesar Clown, the crew took a break. Sanji prepared a meal using his Attack Cuisine and served Kin’emon and Momonosuke. Though hesitant at first, Momonosuke ate after his father encouraged him, and everyone enjoyed a feast.

After the celebration, the Straw Hats left with Law, Kin’emon, and Momonosuke while Tashigi and her men took the children away from Punk Hazard. They then set sail for Dressrosa. When Luffy announced their alliance with the Heart Pirates, Sanji pointed out that he and Luffy had different ideas about alliances, making Law uneasy since Usopp had said the same earlier. Law then explained Doflamingo’s underworld ties and their plan against Kaido.

That evening, Nami mentioned that Momonosuke had bathed with Robin, making Sanji, Brook, and Kin’emon jealous. When Momonosuke smugly rubbed it in, they yelled at him but were quickly scolded by Nami. The next morning, they read the news about Doflamingo resigning as a Warlord and alliances forming between different pirate crews.

Dressrosa Arc

After Law told Doflamingo they would bring Caesar to Green Bit, Sanji worried about Doflamingo’s forces, but Law reassured him. While sailing to Dressrosa, Kin’emon and Momonosuke shared their story of being shipwrecked and separated.

Excited by the island’s smells, Sanji joined Luffy, Zoro, Franky, and Kin’emon to rescue Kanjuro and destroy the SAD factory. They admired Dressrosa’s beauty, got disguises, and stopped at a restaurant. Sanji questioned why no one cared about Doflamingo stepping down. They then witnessed a blind man use a strange ability against some thugs.

Suddenly, a thief stole Zoro’s sword, and Sanji followed him out of concern. Along the way, Sanji was captivated by a woman named Violet. She asked him to escort her and help kill a man. While doing so, Sanji took down a sniper but was later lured into a trap by Violet’s group. Though beaten, Sanji’s kindness moved Violet, and she betrayed her comrades. She then revealed Doflamingo’s resignation was fake. Sanji quickly warned Law to escape Green Bit.

Sanji contacted Franky, who told him to meet at the flower field. He also saw a broadcast of Luffy fighting in the Corrida Colosseum. Violet gave Sanji a map to the factory and told him to meet her later. Before he could act, Kin’emon arrived, asking for help to save Kanjuro. They then watched Luffy’s fight, with Kin’emon cheering while Sanji scolded him.

Soon, Zoro reunited with them, bringing a dwarf named Wicca. Violet then informed Sanji that their ship had been hijacked by Giolla and was heading for Green Bit. Sanji decided to rescue the Sunny while Zoro and Kin’emon stayed at the Colosseum. On the way, Violet warned him about the Marines. Before parting, she assured him she would be safe. Sanji used Sky Walk to rush to the Sunny and arrived just in time to block Doflamingo’s attack.

Sanji fought Doflamingo but was quickly trapped by his strings. Before Doflamingo could finish him off, Law used Shambles to teleport Sanji, Caesar, and himself to the Thousand Sunny. Law revealed that he had Caesar’s heart and ordered Nami’s group to head for Zou, as the ship was in danger from both Doflamingo and Admiral Issho. Though reluctant to leave, they followed orders. Sanji noticed Law was too focused on Doflamingo instead of Kaido. After explaining Doflamingo’s powers, Law took Giolla hostage, giving the crew time to escape using Coup de Burst.

Once at a safe distance, Sanji contacted Franky and Usopp, asking them to look after Robin. While Momonosuke spoke about his past encounter with Doflamingo, Sanji was lost in thought about Violet. Later, the crew on the Sunny joined a call with Luffy and the others, learning the true situation in Dressrosa. Sanji decided they should return to help, upsetting Nami, Chopper, and Brook.

On their way back, they overheard a fight in the Corrida Colosseum and were shocked to learn an Admiral was present. However, their return was cut short when the Big Mom Pirates appeared, targeting Caesar. Caesar begged them not to let him be captured, revealing he had dealings with Big Mom. Franky warned Sanji not to lead them to Dressrosa, and Luffy gave permission for them to continue to Zou and fight back against Big Mom’s crew.

Sanji and his group damaged Big Mom’s ship and escaped thanks to a fog created by Nami. The next day, they arrived at Zou. Forcing Caesar to help, they climbed onto the giant elephant’s back and found Sheepshead chasing Tristan. After rescuing her, they discovered Zou’s ruined city, poisoned Mink Tribe, and Pedro begging for help.

When Caesar refused to leave the ship, Sanji used his heart to force him to cooperate. They explored the island, where Sanji defeated Sheepshead and saved Nami, Brook, and Momonosuke. After driving off the remaining Beasts Pirates and making Caesar neutralize the poison gas, they treated the injured Minks, earning their gratitude.

Following the defeat of Doflamingo, Sanji’s bounty increased to 177,000,000 berries, with his wanted poster now showing his real face—though with a lovestruck expression. Unlike the others, his bounty was marked "Only Alive."

Zou Arc

Sanji enjoyed his time on Zou, flirting with mink women. One day, he and Nami saw Pekoms and Capone Bege arrive. Caesar begged for protection from the Big Mom Pirates, but Sanji dismissed him, saying they no longer needed him. Realizing Big Mom was still a threat, Sanji and Brook met with Pekoms and Bege in the forest.

Pekoms, grateful for Sanji saving his people, planned to spare the Straw Hats but still take Caesar. However, Bege shot Pekoms, captured Sanji’s group, and revealed that Sanji was arranged to marry Charlotte Pudding at Big Mom’s Tea Party. Sanji refused, but after hearing shocking news from Vito, he wrote a note for his crew, promising to return. He then forced Bege to let Nami, Chopper, and Brook go by holding Caesar at gunpoint before being taken away.

Whole Cake Island Arc

Aboard Big Mom’s ship, Baron Tamago urged Sanji to join the crew, but Sanji rejected the offer, refusing to cook for pirates who discard their own. When shown Pudding’s picture, he became love-struck. Vito then spoke about Sanji’s infamous family, Germa 66, but Sanji denied any connection. Later, Gotti tried to attack Sanji for disrespecting Vito, but a woman stopped him, reminding everyone of Sanji’s powerful lineage.

Three days before Luffy reached Cacao Island, Sanji met Pudding and was immediately attracted to her, but he made it clear he wouldn’t go through with the wedding if it meant leaving his crew. Before reaching Whole Cake Island, he casually handed Caesar’s heart to Vito instead of returning it.

Sanji returned to Whole Cake Island and reunited with his family for the first time in 13 years. He clashed with his younger brother, Yonji, and easily overpowered him. Later, his sister Reiju tried to convince him to accept his royal heritage, but Sanji refused. Their father, Judge, then challenged Sanji to a fight.

During the duel, Sanji was reminded of the abuse he suffered as a child. Judge used advanced technology to overpower him and stabbed one of his own soldiers to gain the upper hand. After the fight, Judge revealed that he never considered Sanji his son and was only using him to secure an alliance with Big Mom. To force his obedience, Judge had Reiju put explosive wristlets on Sanji, which could only be removed with Big Mom’s key.

The day before the wedding, Sanji dined with his family. He clashed with Niji, who insulted the food and tried to hurt a chef. Sanji defended her and ate the food off the floor, angering Niji. Judge then showed Sanji a photo of Zeff and threatened to kill him if Sanji resisted. Later, Sanji found Cosette, the head chef, badly beaten and suspected Niji was responsible. Yonji led him to a lab where Sanji learned about Germa 66’s human cloning project.

Sanji, furious, attacked Niji, but Ichiji reminded him of Zeff’s safety, allowing Niji to counterattack. His brothers then beat him while he lay on the floor. Reiju later helped Sanji by treating his swollen face and reminded him that he had chosen to return. She asked why he would suffer for a restaurant owner, and Sanji recalled Zeff’s kindness.

Sanji was then taken to Whole Cake Chateau for the gift exchange with Big Mom. He sat silently in the carriage, surrounded by his brothers, as Germa 66 soldiers cheered him on.

On the way to Whole Cake Chateau, Luffy and Nami caught up to Sanji’s carriage. Shocked to see them, Sanji remembered Judge’s threats and kicked Luffy off the carriage, coldly telling him to leave. Luffy refused, and Sanji volunteered to fight him. He repeatedly kicked Luffy, who refused to fight back, until he collapsed. Nami slapped Sanji in anguish, but Luffy yelled that he knew Sanji didn’t mean his words. He declared he would wait and starve unless Sanji cooked for him again. As the carriage moved on, Sanji cried in regret.

Sanji later saw an army heading toward Luffy and Nami before arriving at Big Mom’s castle for a meal with his family and Pudding. In private, Pudding apologized for not taking Sanji to Luffy. Sanji revealed his injuries, explosive wristlets, and the blackmail forcing him into marriage. Feeling trapped, he decided to go through with the wedding in exchange for his friends’ safety. As Pudding cried, he hugged her and told her his decision.

Sanji then met Big Mom and asked her to let his friends go if he agreed to marry Pudding. She agreed as long as he complied, and Sanji thanked her, promising to make Pudding happy. Left alone in a guest room, he hoped his friends wouldn’t do anything reckless. Trying to stay positive, he picked flowers and later prepared a meal for Pudding after hearing she hadn’t eaten.

After making a bento for Pudding, Sanji went to her room but couldn't enter. He climbed onto the balcony and overheard Pudding revealing her sinister plan to kill the Vinsmoke Family during the wedding. Stunned, he stood in the rain, silently shedding a tear as she mocked him. He left while she erased Reiju's memories.

Sanji later went to the infirmary, tied up a guard, and told Reiju what had happened. She accepted it and revealed that their mother had sacrificed herself to keep Sanji’s emotions intact. Reiju urged him to leave with his crew, revealing she had swapped his explosive wristlets with fakes. However, Sanji refused, still worried about Zeff and his friends.

Alone in the castle, Sanji reflected on everything before deciding to go through with the wedding. When Bobbin tried to steal food from his bento, Sanji instinctively kicked him away. Realizing what he had done, he grabbed the bento and ran as guards approached.

Sanji then traveled through Sweet City, fending off a dog, before finding Luffy waiting as promised. Hearing Luffy’s stomach growl, he handed him the bento. As Luffy happily ate, he asked Sanji to return. Sanji tearfully admitted he wanted to but couldn’t abandon his family. Luffy reassured him, saying they’d ruin the wedding together.

Sanji was relieved to hear Jinbe had arrived and that Nami was safe, though he regretted causing her distress. They then spoke with Chopper’s group through a mirror shard. Nami was upset but willing to help him return. Sanji listened as Jinbe explained Bege’s plan against Big Mom and was shocked when Luffy agreed to form an alliance.

Sanji and Luffy arrived at Bege's hideout, where Vito welcomed them and insisted they take a bath before meeting Bege. During the meeting, Bege considered eliminating Luffy’s group, but Sanji pointed out that his death would ruin the tea party and the assassination plan. Begrudgingly, Bege agreed. He then explained his plan to kill Big Mom, and after the discussion, Sanji returned to prepare for the wedding.

At the waiting room, Sanji sat beside Pudding, struggling to contain his usual flirty reactions despite knowing her true intentions. They arrived at the ceremony on a flying teacup, and during the vows, Sanji lifted Pudding’s veil. Instead of recoiling at her third eye, he called it beautiful, making her cry. As a priest prepared to shoot Sanji, Katakuri launched a jellybean to kill him instead, but Sanji dodged, and the priest got hit.

Suddenly, Luffy clones burst from the wedding cake, and Sanji grabbed Pudding, jumping away as the cake collapsed. Pudding tried to shoot him but hesitated when Sanji asked if she had deceived herself too. Her brother Daifuku slapped her aside and attacked Sanji with a genie. As Sanji fought back, he saw his family held at gunpoint. He tried to warn Reiju but was pinned down. When Big Mom’s powerful scream incapacitated her family, Sanji broke the candy restraining his family and freed them.

Bege and his men launched their attack on Big Mom, but her scream destroyed the rockets. As the escape plan began, Sanji urged Judge to get inside Bege’s fortress while the Vinsmokes fought to protect Nami and the others. Sanji caught Nami as she was freed, then retreated inside. When Judge questioned why Sanji saved him, Sanji said it was to honor Zeff and warned him to stay away from East Blue.

As Big Mom attacked, Sanji and Luffy worked together to block her. Sanji carried Luffy away, but Big Mom taunted Luffy, prompting him to briefly fight her in Gear 4 before collapsing. Sanji carried Luffy again, but they were captured along with the Vinsmokes. Just as Big Mom prepared to execute them, the Tamatebako exploded at the castle’s base, causing the Whole Cake Chateau to collapse.

As the castle collapsed, Luffy’s group, the Vinsmokes, and Bege’s crew escaped. Sanji’s group and the Fire Tank Pirates met at the northwest part of Whole Cake Island, where Bege decided to part ways. After Brook and Chopper left to retrieve the Shark Submerge, the rest of the team headed for the Thousand Sunny. On the way, they used King Baum to travel through the Seducing Woods, but Big Mom, riding on Zeus, caught up to them.

Big Mom attacked, injuring King Baum. Nami distracted Zeus with thunderclouds, making him drop Big Mom. As they reached the woods, Big Mom ordered the trees to stop them, but King Baum charged ahead. However, Prometheus burned him, forcing Sanji’s group to run on foot. The forest homies attacked, changing the landscape to confuse them, while Big Mom’s pirates gave chase. Nami tricked Zeus into eating her weather egg, making him grow stormy, and used him to unleash a massive lightning strike, momentarily stopping their pursuers.

Big Mom was barely affected and continued chasing them. Pudding and Chiffon arrived, asking Sanji to help bake a cake to stop Big Mom’s rampage. Despite Pudding’s constant mood swings, Sanji agreed and left with them for Cacao Island. As they flew over the Thousand Sunny, he saw Brook and Chopper fighting off the Chess Soldiers and believed his crew would be fine. He then vowed to bake a cake that would make Big Mom faint.

On the way, Sanji learned that Lola was once Totto Land’s Minister of Chocolate. Pudding, struggling with her feelings for Sanji, hid inside Rabiyan’s folds but swooned when he told her not to fall. They soon arrived at Cacao Island, where Chiffon pretended to be Pudding’s prisoner while Sanji hid.

At the Sweets Factory, Pudding altered the chefs’ memories to make them believe the wedding had gone smoothly. Once inside, Sanji revealed that he had designed the cake in advance, impressing Chiffon with his ability to recall the ingredients by smell. The chefs were amazed by his precise instructions. With Chiffon making the base, Pudding handling the chocolate, and Sanji preparing a secret ingredient, they began baking the cake, planning to finish it in three hours.

As Sanji and the chefs worked on the cake, they heard a commotion outside but stayed focused. Through Brûlée’s Den Den Mushi, Sanji learned about Luffy’s fight with Katakuri and their rendezvous point. Pudding was worried, but Sanji believed Luffy would win. While making his special ingredient, Sanji smiled, thinking about Big Mom’s reaction, which annoyed Chiffon. He finished his secret Simsim Cream, which was so sweet it made a chef faint. With the cake ready, they set sail to meet the Thousand Sunny.

As they left, Oven attacked Chiffon for helping Bege. Pound tried to stop Oven, and Sanji quickly kicked Oven and rescued Chiffon. At the harbor, Oven tried using Chiffon as a hostage, but Bege shot him in the face. Sanji then lifted the cake carriage onto Bege’s ship before boarding. When Oven tried boiling the sea to stop them, Pound intervened, allowing them to escape.

On the way, Sanji and Bege argued over the cake, with Sanji confident that his ingredient would stop Big Mom. He made Bege taste the Simsim Cream, which overwhelmed him with bliss. Sanji told Bege he could attempt to assassinate Big Mom after she ate it. Once the cake was fully decorated, Pudding mockingly suggested they might be too late, but Sanji remained determined to reunite with his friends.

As they neared the Thousand Sunny, Sanji was relieved to see Nami. Bege promised not to tamper with the cake, so Sanji left it in his hands. Pudding then took Sanji back to the Sunny on Rabiyan, where he was warmly welcomed by Nami and Brook. As they sailed to Cacao Island to retrieve Luffy, Sanji revealed that the Big Mom Pirates knew their rendezvous point.

Sanji and Pudding went ahead to Cacao Island to help Luffy. While riding Rabiyan, Sanji thanked Pudding, making her flustered. He promised to save Luffy. When they arrived, they hid and saw the Big Mom Pirates' forces. Sanji told Pudding they would part ways after Luffy returned and said he was glad she was his fiancée, making her emotional. Before leaving, Pudding kissed Sanji but erased his memory of it. Sanji then contacted the Sunny crew, telling them to stay back while he retrieved Luffy.

When Luffy emerged from the Mirro-World with Pekoms and Brûlée, Sanji reported to the Sunny. As Luffy tried to escape, Sanji kicked Raisin away and grabbed him, but they were knocked down by Charlotte Yuen. Just as they were cornered, Germa 66 arrived and shielded them. Sanji was told to escape with Luffy while his siblings held off the enemies. After breaking through, Sanji flew into the air but was attacked by snipers. Niji saved him and Luffy, then threw them toward the Sunny, sending them over the enemy fleet.

Back on the Sunny, they were attacked by Smoothie’s fleet but were saved by Judge. As they passed Judge’s castle, Sanji heard him question why Luffy risked his life for him. When more enemy ships appeared, Sanji defended Carrot from Daifuku’s genie. The Sun Pirates then cleared a path, but the Sunny was intercepted by the Queen Mama Chanter. Wadatsumi switched the Sunny with the Sun Pirates’ ship and tried to escape, but Oven attacked, forcing him to spit it out. As the Sun Pirates held back Big Mom’s forces, Jinbe stayed behind to help, and the Sunny sailed away.

After escaping, Sanji learned about Pedro’s sacrifice and felt regret. Carrot tried to cheer him up but ended up crying, so Sanji comforted her. Later, he cooked a meal for the crew.

Levely Arc

Sanji discovered that Niji had given him a raid suit during their escape. He saw it as an insult and wanted nothing from his family. However, Luffy and Chopper begged him not to throw it away, so he tossed it to them instead.

When Sanji saw Zeus, he reminded the cloud that Nami was his master, but Zeus pointed out that he now lived inside her Clima-Tact. Carrot then brought a newspaper, and the crew read it. Sanji was pleased to see his bounty rise to 330,000,000 berries, surpassing Zoro’s, but was upset that his family name was included. At first, they thought Luffy’s bounty had dropped to 150,000,000 berries, but Brook took a closer look and revealed it had actually increased to 1,500,000,000 berries, shocking everyone.

Wano Country Arc

As the Sunny sailed toward Wano, the crew read about the Levely in the newspaper. Sanji was excited to see Vivi and other princesses, even cutting out their pictures to keep. They soon encountered strange weather, an octopus, and giant carp pulling their ship up a waterfall. At the top, they ran into a whirlpool. Sanji carried Nami, Chopper, Carrot, and Brook to safety, but Luffy and the Sunny were sucked in.

After Luffy got separated, the crew searched for him but only found his Vivre Card. They later met Kin'emon, Law, Momonosuke, and Kiku at Oden Castle, where Kin'emon revealed they had traveled through time. He explained their mission to defeat Kaido in two weeks. Sanji joked about competing for Kiku’s affection but was disappointed to learn Kin’emon was already married.

The group received new clothes, and Sanji was upset that Shinobu wasn’t attractive. When Kaido arrived, Luffy and Law rushed to protect Okobore Town, and Kaido destroyed Oden Castle. Sanji carried Nami and Carrot to safety while Shinobu used her powers to save the others. Kiku later returned with news about Luffy’s capture.

Sanji then opened a soba noodle stand, attracting a crowd—mainly women. When Franky, Usopp, and Robin visited, Sanji was thrilled that Robin liked his food. Later, thugs from the Kyoshiro Family demanded protection money. When they ruined his soba, Sanji kicked one of them into the ground and force-fed him noodles. He then gave a new bowl to a little girl who had lost hers. Later, Sanji and his group went to watch the passing courtesan and learned Robin had been summoned to Orochi’s sitting room, which Sanji praised her for.

When two Tobiroppo members came looking for Sanji, Law told him to hide, but he hesitated upon hearing that one of them was X Drake.

Sanji, Law, Franky, and Usopp fled to avoid detection, but Page One started destroying soba shops to find Sanji. Deciding to fight, Sanji attacked him and used his raid suit to stay hidden. Page One transformed and struck Sanji, sending him crashing through buildings, but the suit protected him. Sanji then leaped into the air and struck back before escaping to Ebisu Town with his group.

While hiding there, Sanji mourned Komurasaki’s apparent death and thought about visiting a bathhouse. Later, he used his raid suit to sneak into the bathhouse where Nami, Robin, and Shinobu were bathing. When Beasts Pirates led by Drake and Hawkins arrived searching for Kin'emon's allies, Sanji got a nosebleed after seeing Nami naked, accidentally revealing himself. Drake fainted at the sight of naked women, allowing Sanji to grab Nami’s group and fly them to safety. He then informed them that Law’s crew had been captured.

In Ebisu Town, Sanji, with a swollen face from Nami’s punishment, tried to stop Law and Shinobu from arguing about Kin’emon’s leaked message. Later, the group was confused when Kanjuro and Shinobu claimed not to know Tonoyasu. When Tonoyasu’s capture was broadcast, they rushed to Rasetsu Town but arrived too late—he had already been executed. Sanji then learned why the people of Ebisu Town could only laugh despite their pain.

Seeing Toko in danger, Sanji jumped in to protect her and reunited with Zoro. They argued briefly before Zoro handed Toko to Sanji. When Zoro tried to attack Orochi, Sanji scolded him. Drake transformed and attacked Sanji, who kicked back. While fighting, Sanji passed Toko to Usopp but got slammed into the ground by Drake’s tail. In the chaos, Sanji noticed a woman in trouble and ran to help, but Zoro saved her first, leaving Sanji shocked that Zoro knew her.

As the Flower Capital went on high alert, Sanji and Shinobu observed from a rooftop. Shinobu mentioned they still needed to free the imprisoned Kouzuki supporters. They also noticed the citizens preparing for the Fire Festival. Later, they joined a meeting with the alliance at Amigasa Village, where they learned from Zoro and Kawamatsu that Hiyori was alive. Seeing Zoro with a mysterious woman, Sanji playfully pampered Momonosuke. He was later shocked by Enma’s destructive power when Zoro tested it.

On the day of the Fire Festival, the Straw Hats sailed to Tokage Port to join the Scabbards in the battle against the Beasts Pirates. When Kanjuro kidnapped Momonosuke and revealed himself as a traitor, Sanji tried to chase him but stopped when Kanjuro rained ink arrows down on them. Sanji shielded Nami with his body. As a Beasts Pirates ship attacked with long-range cannons, Jinbe arrived to help, rejoining the crew. The Straw Hats then took over the torii gates before reaching Onigashima, where Kin'emon gave them Beasts Pirates disguises.

Inside Kaido’s stronghold, Sanji rode the Brachio Tank V with his crew. They reached Black Maria’s Pleasure Hall, where Sanji excitedly entered but left disappointed. He soon split from the group to go off on his own.

As the battle began, Sanji used his raid suit to rescue Momonosuke from King in mid-air. He threw Momonosuke to Shinobu but was then slammed into a tower by King. Thanks to his suit, Sanji survived and later rejoined his crew at the Live Stage. He watched with amusement as Luffy took down one of the Numbers.

When Page One and Ulti appeared, Sanji and Luffy saw Usopp and Nami lure them away. Apoo then attacked, but they blocked his sound-based moves. Sanji advised Luffy to avoid unnecessary fights, but Luffy being Luffy, made it difficult. Jinbe took over Sanji’s role of escorting Luffy to the roof, which slightly irritated Sanji.

As they progressed through Kaido’s castle, Sanji and Jinbe defeated two Shinuchis. On the second level, Sanji got distracted by a woman’s cries for help. He split from Luffy and Jinbe to rescue her but fell into a trap and was captured by Black Maria and her subordinates.

Sanji fought off Black Maria's male subordinates but refused to hit her or the women, allowing her to trap him again. She ordered him to call Robin using a special mask to lure her into a trap. Before she could force him, Black Maria got a call from King about the wounded Scabbards, prompting her to leave. However, she continued attacking Sanji until he finally called Robin for help. Instead of freeing him, she tried to make him her pet, but Robin arrived just in time, striking Black Maria while Brook freed Sanji. Grateful for Robin’s trust, Sanji rushed off to help the Scabbards.

Later, Sanji heard that the Beasts Pirates were after Momonosuke. While deciding who to help, he suddenly caught Law and an injured Zoro, who appeared in midair after teleporting. Law left quickly, leaving Sanji to bandage Zoro and carry him while fighting enemies. After meeting Kawamatsu and Izou, who assured them Kin’emon would protect Momonosuke, Zoro suggested heading to the Live Floor before passing out.

Sanji arrived in time to save Chopper, kicking Queen away and deflecting Perospero’s arrow attack. He praised Chopper for holding out and threw Zoro to the doctor before engaging Queen. When Queen called him "Judge’s son," Sanji angrily rejected the title and realized Queen had been part of the same research group as his father. As they fought, Sanji noted that Franky would be interested in Queen’s advanced laser technology.

On the Live Floor, Sanji struggled against both King and Queen, realizing fighting them together was overwhelming. Marco, also exhausted, had been holding them off but reached his limit. When King went after Zoro, Sanji tried to stop him, but Marco intervened instead. As King and Queen attacked Marco, he declared it was now time for the "stars" to shine. At that moment, Zoro recovered and attacked King, while Sanji struck Queen. The two declared that winning this fight would bring them closer to seeing Luffy as the Pirate King.

King and Queen quickly recovered, and Queen fired beams at Sanji and Zoro, which they dodged. Sanji began feeling strange ever since using his Raid Suit, and Zoro warned him not to slow him down. They bickered but still protected each other from King and Queen’s attacks before splitting up to fight one-on-one. As Sanji fought Queen, the All-Star speculated that his abilities came from Judge’s experiments. Sanji denied it, saying his strength came from his passion, and struck Queen, who blocked with Armament Haki.

Sanji was caught off guard when a dragon with Luffy on its horns crashed into the Live Floor. He was shocked to learn that the dragon was actually Momonosuke. After Zoro was sent flying by King, Sanji continued fighting Queen alone. Queen kept demanding he use his Raid Suit, while Sanji struggled with strange changes in his body.

During their battle, Queen trapped Sanji and tried to crush him, but accidentally hit himself, freeing Sanji. Though his bones were broken, Sanji quickly recovered, shocking everyone, including himself. He realized he might have awakened the modifications of his family when Queen’s sword shattered against his neck without harming him.

Worried that he might lose his emotions like his brothers, Sanji ran from the fight to gather his thoughts. As he fled, bullets bounced off his skin, confirming his body’s transformation. Queen chased after him, still insisting he use the Raid Suit. Sanji ended up in the Pleasure Hall, where he was accused of hurting a geisha, O-Some.

Unable to remember doing so, he feared he had lost control. As Queen caught up, Sanji struggled with the thought of becoming an emotionless warrior. He ultimately decided to destroy the Raid Suit instead of using it. He then called Zoro, asking him to kill him if he ever lost his humanity. After this, he attacked Queen with Hell Memories, sending him flying.

Queen, however, returned and revealed he had copied the abilities of Sanji’s brothers, angering Sanji, who rejected any connection to them. Queen used his stolen abilities to smash Sanji through several walls, but Sanji broke free and destroyed Queen’s mechanical arm. Queen then used an invisibility technique, but Sanji matched it with his own speed. When Queen revealed he had earlier struck O-Some for rejecting him, Sanji became furious. Using his genetic modifications combined with Armament Haki, he evolved his Diable Jambe into Ifrit Jambe. He unleashed a powerful barrage of attacks, finishing with Boeuf Burst, which sent Queen flying out of Onigashima.

After the fight, Sanji found O-Some’s pet mouse, Chuji, and gave it to her, recalling his childhood. Exhausted, he collapsed, and O-Some treated his injuries. Later, he recognized Luffy’s heartbeat as it echoed through Onigashima. As the castle caught fire, he helped lead the geishas to safety. Jinbe and Raizo flooded the castle with water, extinguishing the flames.

Sanji later reunited with the Straw Hats and was thrilled when Yamato announced he was joining them. He and the crew then watched as Momonosuke gave his speech, officially becoming the new shogun.

A week after Luffy and Zoro woke up, the crew gathered at the Shogun’s castle. Sanji and Brook laughed when Nami refused to cuddle with the now-adult Momonosuke. However, Sanji became furious when Hiyori revealed she had bathed Zoro while he was unconscious, leading to a fight between Sanji and Zoro. Later, Sanji joined the men in the bath and had a nosebleed when Yamato joined them.

After their baths, Sanji enjoyed the festival with the citizens and allies. That night, he, Luffy, Zoro, and Jinbe watched as Momonosuke and his group fought Admiral Ryokugyu, who was eventually driven away by Shanks’ Haki. When Yamato later announced he was staying in Wano instead of joining the crew, Sanji was heartbroken. Marco then flew by and told them he was leaving with Shanks' crew.

The next day, the Straw Hats discussed Pluton. When Shinobu visited, Sanji swooned over her new appearance. A few days later, they prepared to leave Wano. As thanks for helping Luffy, they agreed to take Caribou with them but made him travel in a barrel. Just before they left, Momonosuke, Yamato, and Kin’emon arrived to say goodbye. Luffy gave Momonosuke a Straw Hat flag, and the crew set sail. Kid then challenged Luffy and Law to take their ships over the Climbing Koi Waterfall.

Egghead Arc

When the crew received news of their new bounties, Sanji was upset that his was lower than Zoro's and Jinbe's, leading to a fight with Zoro. After reading about Cobra's assassination and Vivi's disappearance, Sanji worried about her, but Zoro reminded them to wait until she was truly in danger before acting.

Days later, while sailing through a cold region, Sanji heard Bonney’s cries from inside a giant warm eddy. Zoro cut it open, but a Mecha-Shark attacked and capsized the ship. Jinbe rescued Luffy, Chopper, and Bonney, while the rest were saved by Lilith and her robot. Lilith introduced herself and demanded their valuables, but Nami insisted she finish saving them first. More Sea Beast Weapons appeared but were called off by Shaka, who ordered Lilith to take them to Egghead Island.

At the island's Labophase, Sanji and some of the crew disembarked. They changed into new outfits and encountered a Seraphim, S-Shark, who resembled Jinbe. When it attacked Nami, Sanji kicked it away. Shaka then explained the island’s advanced technology and the history of the Void Century. Robin was moved to tears upon learning that Ohara’s research had been preserved, which worried Sanji until she thanked Shaka.

While watching Luffy fight Lucci, Vegapunk explained his theories on Devil Fruits and revealed he planned to join the crew, shocking them. When CP0 invaded the Labophase, Sanji teamed up with Jinbe and Stussy to search for Vegapunk but spent most of the time flirting with Stussy. Hearing Nami scream, he rushed to save her from S-Shark, vowing to punish it for hurting her. As they fought, Sanji proved that the Seraphim’s attacks couldn’t harm him.

After reuniting with CP0, Vegapunk, and the satellites, the Straw Hats secured York and the Seraphim. As the Marines arrived at Egghead, they planned an escape to Elbaph. When Kizaru infiltrated, Sanji used a bubble gun to stop Kaku. Later, he joined the mission to save Bonney, hitching a ride on the Vegatank-08. While searching, Sanji quickly found Bonney using his “lady radar” and saved her from a Pacifista. As they tried to escape, Saturn arrived, and Kizaru destroyed their path, causing the Vegatank to crash. To Sanji’s shock, Bonney stabbed Saturn, but he easily overpowered her and knocked Sanji down.

Sanji was unable to move due to Saturn’s power and watched helplessly as the Marines aimed at Bonney. However, Kuma suddenly arrived and punched Saturn, breaking the paralysis. Sanji protected Bonney and Kuma, then urged everyone to escape in the vacuum rocket.

He contacted Nami to check on the crew and learned a Buster Call was coming. When Kizaru destroyed the vacuum rocket, Sanji used Sky Walk to save Bonney. He then blocked Kizaru’s attacks on Kuma and Bonney and stood guard as Bonney tried to help the injured Vegapunk.

Kizaru fired a laser at Bonney and Vegapunk, but Sanji kicked it away, shocking everyone. He then faced off with Kizaru and Saturn, who transformed into a monstrous form. Sanji carried Vegapunk to safety but was intercepted by Kizaru, who stabbed the scientist. Recovering Vegapunk, Sanji begged him to wake up as a powerful energy surged across the island. He then coordinated with the crew to escape but grew frustrated that Zoro’s fight was delaying them. After confirming Jinbe had retrieved Zoro, Sanji asked the giants, Dorry and Brogy, to pass a message to Luffy before heading to regroup with Franky’s team.

As Sanji ran, he sensed Bonney was in danger and rushed to help. He found Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro attacking her and landed a powerful kick to his jaw. Nusjuro quickly recovered, biting Sanji and forcing him to drop Vegapunk’s body.

Luckily, Oimo and Kashii arrived to hold Nusjuro back, and Bonney jumped in to fight. Sanji was knocked down but avoided further battle as Nusjuro turned his attention elsewhere. Taking a brief moment, Sanji contacted Luffy and was both relieved and annoyed to hear him yelling from far away.

The group boarded the Giant Warrior Pirates' ship and reunited with Luffy. Sanji then updated Nami on their situation, vowing to protect her. However, their escape was interrupted when Marcus Mars began pursuing them from the air. To stop Mars, Luffy ordered Sanji, Franky, and Bonney to hit him at once.

Despite Bonney’s confusion, Sanji followed orders and used Hell Memories on Luffy, boosting his attack and sending Mars flying. Afterward, Sanji noticed Nami’s group was running late and was surprised when Atlas decided to check on them. Bonney soon collapsed from exhaustion, and Sanji helped her recover.

When Emet challenged the Five Elders in Luffy’s place, Sanji, Franky, and Luffy were excited but shocked when the robot’s weapons failed. Sanji then spotted the Sunny falling into the sea. Emet released a powerful burst of Supreme King Haki, knocking out the Marines and forcing the Elders back, giving the Straw Hats and giants a chance to escape. Sanji approached Vegapunk’s body, questioning if this was truly the scientist’s wish.

Later, the giants planned a celebration but postponed it for Luffy’s recovery. During the downtime, Sanji stayed by Lilith’s side until she woke up. When she claimed she already knew what had happened, Sanji asked how but was ignored. The crew was then shocked to learn that the other Vegapunks were still alive. Eventually, Sanji joined in the actual party, happily celebrating with his friends.

Elbaph Arc

Two days after the party, Sanji, Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, Nami, and the Thousand Sunny mysteriously vanished, alarming everyone. They had been taken by Muginn to his master, Road, a New Giant Warrior Pirate. Road, furious over his captain's loyalty to Luffy, kept the Straw Hats asleep and placed them in the Land of Gods as a test.

Sanji woke up first and found Luffy and Zoro. Together, they killed and ate the Ear God before heading to Bigstein Castle. There, they saved Usopp and Nami from a giant cat-turned-lion. After defeating it, they decided to regroup with their crew and retrieve the Sunny.

The Straw Hats eventually reached the lower Land of Gods, where a man told them about the Sun God, who ruled the area. Learning the Sun God’s temple was off-limits, Luffy ran off to find it, with the crew reluctantly following.

He crashed into a giant mirror, revealing the Land of Gods was an artificial diorama. After rescuing Chopper, they fought the temple’s "guardians" and easily defeated them. The Sun God then appeared, furious at the Straw Hats for damaging their domain. A chase ensued, with the crew riding the defeated cat, Iscat, while the Sun God tried to capture them.

As the Sun God trapped them in a giant net, Zoro and Sanji quickly broke free. Usopp attempted to break a thick wall blocking their escape but failed, so Luffy used Gear 4 to smash through it. Meanwhile, Nami knocked out the Sun God with Zeus, allowing them to flee.

On their way out, they barely avoided running into Goldberg, Gerd, and her pet, Piper. After the giants passed, they crossed a massive bridge linking Road’s castle to Elbaph’s upper levels. Luffy sensed something strange below and jumped into the forest, but Sanji stopped Zoro from following, knowing he’d get lost.

Suddenly, the bridge shook. Usopp spotted Road running from Goldberg and Gerd, who were carrying the Sunny. Realizing Road was the Sun God who kidnapped them, Zoro wanted to fight the giants, but Usopp refused, believing they could be allies. Sanji led the crew toward a nearby village instead.

Upon reaching the Sun World, they set a trap and knocked Road unconscious. Soon after, Goldberg and Gerd arrived, finishing the job. After introductions, Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper ran ahead to the village while Sanji, Zoro, and Nami hitched a ride with Gerd. Unlike the others, Sanji stayed attached to Gerd instead of admiring the scenery.

The rest of the Straw Hats, the Giant Warrior Pirates, and the New Giant Warrior Pirates soon arrived, leading to a short reunion. Hajrudin declared a feast, but the crew prioritized Robin’s reunion with Jaguar D. Saul. Flying to Warrior’s Spring in a Svarr piloted by Gerd, they found Saul pretending to be injured after waiting 22 years to see Robin. After their emotional embrace, Sanji and the crew were moved to tears.

Sanji’s Personality

Sanji is composed, carefree, and collected, and he never loses his cool under pressure. This contrasts the numerous comedic antics he engages in, such as when around women or in response to insults from crew members. Most notably, Sanji and Zoro frequently engage in physical battle due to their intense rivalry (both verbally and physically). Nonetheless, they still look for ways to support their team and those around them, even when engaged in a rant.

In many aspects, his behavior is similar to that of a covert spy. This is proven by the fact that he frequently smokes and wears suits and that soothing music with jazz undertones generally plays in the anime as he speaks. He is more insightful than he appears to be and frequently says what people need to hear rather than what they want to hear. As a result, he is considered one of the crew's more experienced members.

Who is Sanji in One Piece.
Still from the anime.

Even after the trauma he endured from his family as a child, he clung to the possibility that they had changed. But when this hope turns out to be utterly in vain, he was more upset than shocked, showing that even at his most optimistic, he still retains a healthy sense of skepticism.

Sanji is knowledgeable compared to his fellow crew members because he can typically think ahead in most circumstances. Moreover, he frequently isolates himself from everyone else while assisting the crew and other allies in surviving.

He generally makes flirtatious moves at any gorgeous lady he encounters, earning him the moniker of "ero-cook" by Zoro. Even as a youngster, Sanji would fall in love with beautiful female clients while working in Baratie, leading to mistakes that annoyed Zeff. Ever since and for some time after, the rest of the crew finds this romantic disposition disturbing in times of need. When other men's luck with women seems to be better than his, he is also known to act jealously towards them.

Sanji thinks of himself as charming and attractive and frequently compares himself to a prince from a fairy tale (fitting since he is actually a prince). There are occasions when women show interest in the cook, even though this quality hasn't been noted explicitly by others (similar to most male characters). At times, when Sanji is bragging about his charisma, those around him have a tendency to forcefully bring him down to earth.

Sanji frequently gets into battle to save or help those who are in need. When other people are in danger, he will not hesitate to back down, as evidenced during his conflict with Judge, when he gave up fighting after understanding his father meant to use his men as human shields. At other times, Sanji will make an effort to avoid pointless conflicts.

Sanji has pledged to never let women be insulted or hurt while he is still standing, regardless of how attractive or unattractive they may be, even in life-or-death situations, as a result of the chivalrous lectures he received from Zeff. His inability to attack female opponents in battle is still a frequent source of problems because he would rather die than harm them. All of this is a result of Zeff having taught him the "old laws of the world," according to which men should never assault women.

He doesn't have resentment towards any ladies because of his chivalry towards them, and he even understands the underlying significance of their behavior. But Sanji's excessive chivalry often taints his judgment and causes him to get into problems unnecessarily. On the other hand, he exhibits the same rudeness and disrespect for many other men throughout the series as do the men on the Baratie, though he will not hesitate to aid them if they are in need.

Sanji is extremely kind and has always had a great sense of generosity and compassion, as seen when he fed a rat and took care of a turtle despite being mercilessly tormented by his brothers and receiving punishment from his father for doing so. Sanji's experiences with his family greatly hardened him, as evidenced by the fact that he pulled a knife on his father and came dangerously close to killing Zeff for "meal." Sanji didn't completely calm down and rediscover his sympathetic side until Zeff sacrificed his leg to save him.

Sanji is known for having a deep respect for both food and the work that goes into making it in the kitchen. He is headstrong that a chef's labor must be treated as though it were sacred because food and sustenance are essential to sustaining life. This respect results from Sanji imitating his mother and honing his culinary skills.

Before spending time on the rock with Zeff, Sanji believed that food was disposable and would throw out any that had gone bad. In fact, he found it disgusting that his coworkers were eating leftovers from customers instead of following their instruction to conserve food while traveling by sea. He eventually regretted his treatment of food, though, after nearly dying of starvation on the rock. As a result, he has a tendency to get bitter towards those who throw away food or treat it in any other manner than with the respect he accords it. As a result, he has a bad habit of beating up people who steal or waste food.

Sanji is naturally fearless because he is one of the crew's strongest members and a member of the "Monster Trio," and he frequently faces off against armies and other formidable opponents without any nervousness. Although Sanji is extremely courageous, he nevertheless encounters some fear. He was horrified alongside Nami at the spiders and enormous insects, showing he may have arachnophobia and entomophobia. Sanji becomes anxious anytime Nami is not there and worries about her safety (same for Robin), and he also gets frightened when other crew members are in immediate danger of losing their lives.

Sanji is willing to become cold towards allies in order to protect those who are at greater risk since his commitment to people close to him comes first. Sanji would, for instance, commit an act of discriminating cruelty against the Straw Hat Pirates to break their links with him in order to protect his father figure, Zeff, who was in danger of death if he disobeyed.

Sanji’s Appearance

Sanji is a thin, strong, long-legged man with blond hair which he keeps brushed over one side of his face. This was the left side prior to the time skip. He changed his hairdo to hide the right side after the two-year gap. Sanji's hair appears to be less straight and more sloppy following the time jump. Sanji's prominent eyebrows are one of his distinctive physical features. Both form a spiral but at different ends. The outer spiral of his right eyebrow is on his left, and the inner spiral is on his right. Sanji’s eyes are typically black in color, but in the anime, they appear to be gray-blue at times.

When he was a child, Sanji used to dress in white slacks, brown boots, with a light yellow bandana around his neck, and a yellow shirt with the number "3" on it. In contrast to how it is now, he had his hair styled back then.

Sanji generally wears a long-sleeved buttoned shirt in one of several colors, generally orange, blue, turquoise, or black, with or without pinstripes, along with a black, double-breasted suit with golden buttons, a tie, and a variety of cufflinks. His clothing changes on a more frequent basis than the rest of the crew.

Sanji now covers his right eye, reveals his left eye, and has significantly longer hair after the two-year time skip. He also has upper lip stubble and dark anchor-style facial hair. Sanji's neck has also grown thicker, much like Luffy and Zoro. He is now approximately the same height as Zoro. He is dressed with a brown tie, a yellow dress shirt, and a black double-breasted suit with golden buttons. Sanji's outfit frequently changes post time-skip period.

Sanji’s Abilities

Sanji is one of the top combatants of the crew besides Luffy and Zoro. His role as the Straw Hat Pirates' cook is incredibly important to the rest of his crew. Zoro and Sanji are known to be the "Pirates King's Wings" since they serve as Luffy's primary support team. Together with Jinbe, Sanji is one of two crew members that engage in battle without the help of weapons or Devil Fruit abilities up until he obtained the Raid Suit, but abandoned it after his dormant genetic upgrades sprang to life.

Sanji and Zoro frequently find themselves in battles against enemies regarded as the second or third main threat, while Luffy frequently engages in combat with the toughest opponents. Yet, it might be said that Sanji and Zoro's foes frequently matched (or countered) their unique combat tactics. Sanji and Zoro have proven to be a nearly invincible force when they resolve to work together for the battle, despite the fact that they frequently let their rivalry get in the way of their fighting performances.

Sanji was raised and trained in warfare and combat with the rest of his siblings as a member of the notorious Vinsmoke Family. Their father transformed them while their mother was still pregnant in order to provide them with superhuman aptitudes. Nevertheless, Sanji's genetic changes were suppressed and he was born a regular human as a result of Sora's own attempt to ensure that her sons would maintain their emotions by using a counter-drug.

Sanji's father disowned him as a result of his inability to keep up with Germa's tough training regimen. He eventually met Zeff, a former pirate turned chef, who taught him his own kick-based martial arts and helped him develop superhuman physical prowess and talents that have worked against many strong opponents.

Sanji's strength increased dramatically after he left the Kamabakka Kingdom, where he received his training, and once he set foot in the New World. As an even more powerful opponent, he is capable of taking on some of the region's toughest pirates and fighters. It is reasonable to assume that Sanji had the same level of political and military influence as the rest of his family as a former prince of the Germa Kingdom. Sanji has, however, voluntarily forfeited any claims to these kinds of privileges as a result of his decision to do so (as well as his father's decision to expel him from the family).

Sanji was taught how to use a sword, according to his father. His ability to retain any abilities, however, is unknown because he only uses his hands while he cooks. He may still be highly skilled at using swords and/or other bladed weapons, as seen by Sanji's exceptional knife-handling prowess in battle, which he kept and continually improved via use in the kitchen.

Culinary Skills

Sanji is a culinary maestro of the greatest degree who has been self-taught since childhood and has also been personally trained by Zeff. He possesses vast knowledge and the ability to prepare practically any type of delicious food while also having a keen sense of cooking aesthetics. He frequently has the ability to quickly determine the characteristics of several elements (such as the ingredients, cooking, and preparation techniques) involved in a dish. His sense of smell is razor-sharp.

In addition to cooking, Sanji is a master recipe writer, as demonstrated by the fact that one of the recipes left behind in the Thousand Sunny enabled Nami to prepare a delicious seafood dinner. By the end of the two-year time jump, Sanji had already received the 99 recipes from the Kamabakka Kingdom's Assault Cuisine as rewards for successfully taking down the Okama Kenpo masters on Momoiro.

These are a few of Sanji’s 99 recipes revealed in the series:

Assault Cuisine

Assault Cuisine is a specific form of cooking exclusively found in the Kamabakka Kingdom. Sanji claims that the food gives off a strong aura and flavor to anyone who consumes it.

Hormone Soup With Sea Pork

It is a big pot of hormone-laced, hormone-injected pig soup. It has the power to restore the user's strength and energy.

Simsim Whip

Sanji created a particular brand of whipped cream while baking a dessert to quell Big Mom's rage. Sanji claims it is the embodiment of sweetness and describes it as the ultimate cream. Its taste is so wonderful, it can induce people who consume it to nearly die in perfect bliss.

Physical Abilities

Sanji's years of difficult training under Zeff since childhood, even before his latent genetic enhancements awoke, have given him extraordinary superhuman strength, resilience, speed, and agility. This has allowed him to use a variety of handstands for a kick-based martial art that makes him incredibly adaptable in battle.

Sanji has incredible stamina and durability. He survived the regular and harsh beatings by his three superhuman brothers even as a young child, when he was still seen as physically weak. Sanji's body has become incredibly tough because of years of extremely rigorous physical training under Zeff during his young adulthood. After the timeskip, his strength and endurance increased profusely.

Sanji is one of the crew's fastest members in addition to being powerful. He has incredible speed, agility, and reflexes. Sanji's speed and agility significantly improved after his genetic modifications were activated, allowing him to move so quickly that he was nearly invisible. Sanji made the decision to accept the transformations to his body after understanding that his genetic modifications were only activated while he was wearing his Raid Suit, but not before he destroyed the canister containing the suit to permanently sever his ties to Germa.

Once he had grasped some of his new abilities, he realized that his already amazing strength had increased to a degree far beyond what he had anticipated, and that he had become so quick that it appeared as though he could disappear without the suit. Combining all of these physical modifications with his Busoshoku Haki, Sanji was able to design fighting moves that were previously physically impractical for him. He hasn't shown the complete lack of empathy attributed to his brothers' genetic improvements because he was horrified when he believed he had hit a woman as his abilities began to take effect.

Black Leg Style

Sanji developed into a seasoned master of the Black Leg Style, a martial art he invented that only uses dynamic and well-coordinated kicks, under Zeff's stringent instruction. Black Leg Style is a variation of Sanji's that includes handstands. To increase the power and range of his kicks, he can also perform back handsprings back-to-back and one-handed handstands. With the help of this martial technique, Sanji can effortlessly defeat several opponents at once.

He learned to walk on air during the time skip, enabling him to attack from above and avoid approaching enemies. Sanji can jump to great heights and move at incredible speeds thanks to his Sky Walk. During the time jump, Sanji can use fire in his attacks, just like his Diable Jambe. Sanji's trauma from the previous two years contributed to some of his abilities; in fact, the very act of recalling that pain causes him to erupt in rage.

His training in a kick-based martial art has given him enormous leg strength, allowing him to overpower the toughest opponents and break even the hardest materials with the powerful kicks he uses. He can easily defeat enormous marine creatures and nonchalantly destroy houses and metal weaponry.

Sanji has a wide range of specialized kicks and fighting techniques in addition to his named attacks. The majority of his attacks are spoken in French, and most of them use words relating to cooking or eating that are either specifically tied to the target area of the opponent's body or to the attack itself.

Mutton Shot

Sanji's standard assaults include Mutton Shot, in which he jumps and flips before kicking his opponent in the head or midsection, and Anti-Manner Kick Course, one of his most powerful kicks that he throws in a 180-degree upwards vertical motion into the torso or back of a large opponent.

Parage Shot

Sanji's humorous finishing technique, Parage Shot, consists of several kicks to the face of his opponent. The victim's facial structure is altered during this attack, frequently making them appear handsome or bishounen-like.

Diable Jambe

Sanji has the ability to use Diable Jambe, which makes his attack stronger, to fast spin in place while heating his lower legs to a temperature that causes them to flash brilliant red. French for "Devil," "Diable" is also the name of a cooking implement. It might possibly be a reference to the hot French sauce known as "sauce à la diable." "Jambe" means "Leg".

His resistance to fire is also astounding. This explains why he can use Diable Jambe without showing any signs of being burned while the target is being cremated. Diable Jambe has advanced since the time-skip to the point where his entire leg is now engulfed in intense flames.

Sanji has demonstrated the following techniques using Diable Jambe:

  • Flambage Shot

  • Bien Cuit: Grill Shot

  • Poêle à Frire: Spectre

  • Poêle à Frire

  • Concasse

  • Crosse Strike

Ifrit Jambe

Ifrit Jambe is an updated variation of Diable Jambe. Sanji dramatically increases the power and stamina of his legs by combining his awakened genetic advantages with Busoshoku Haki, enabling them to withstand much hotter flames. Sanji creates bluish-white flames with this technique, giving his kicking methods a much-needed boost compared to the prior Diable Jambe.

Haki

Sanji can use two forms of Haki i.e. Kenbunshoku Haki and Busoshoku Haki. These abilities were demonstrated after the time-skip.

Kenbunshoku Haki

Kenbunshoku Haki is Sanji's specialty, and he is a master of it. Sanji put a tonne of effort into honing his Kenbunshoku Haki to a high level of his current mastery. He is able to feel the presence, power, feelings, and intentions of others.

Busoshoku Haki

Sanji is a master at using Busoshoku Haki. Sanji combined his strong exoskeleton and Busoshoku Haki to strengthen his legs, making them capable of withstanding far hotter flames after reawakening his dormant genetic modifications. This led to the development of Ifrit Jambe.

Raid Suit

Sanji received a Raid Suit secretly, gifted by the Vinsmokes that had been specially made by Germa 66. Sanji received a black Germa clothing, a cape with the number 3, and boots with jet propulsion from the suit. It gives Sanji the ability to fly, strengthens his kicks with propelled boots, and acts as an armor to shield him from attacks, just like the other Vinsmokes' Raid Suits. The front of his hair is slicked into two pieces, one pointing up and one pointing down, and, in a unique addition, he is given a mask to wear over his lips and nose.

Sanji can completely blend in with his surroundings thanks to this skill, making him invisible to the human eye. He has a significant tactical advantage due to his invisibility because it allows him to surprise enemies. Sanji's outfit and skill make him resemble Stealth Black, a fictitious member of Germa 66 who appears in the Sora, Warrior of the Sea comic strip.

Stealth Black is a member of Germa 66. Sanji rejected the name because of this knowledge and gave the form the name O-Soba Mask instead. Sanji destroyed his raid suit to sever his ties to the Germa Kingdom after finding it had brought to life his dormant genetic enchantments.

  • In 2012, Eiichiro Oda and the French luxury company S.T. Dupont worked together to reproduce Sanji's famous "Sleeping Mermaid" gold lighter for their 140th anniversary.

  • Monuments have been built in Sanji's honor. As part of the Kumamoto Regeneration Project, a bronze monument of Sanji was erected in Mashiki, Kumamoto to promote healing following the region's earthquakes in 2016.

  • One Piece Mugiwara Store's Nagoya location features a statue of Sanji next to show-related artwork.

  • A statue of Sanji may be seen partaking in a meal with the rest of the crew in "Sanji's Oresama Restaurant," one of the restaurants inside the Tokyo One Piece Tower.
