Namida Suzumeno’s Background

Academy Entrance Arc

On the day of the entrance ceremony, Boruto Uzumaki was absent and everyone was looking for him. Suddenly, he crashed a train into the Hokage Monument, leaving Namida in awe of his antics.

Later, Shino Aburame assigned Namida, Sumire Kakei, and Wasabi Izuno to shadow a non-shinobi workplace in order to better understand its lifestyle. However, while working at a water purification plant, they were attacked by a man possessed by dark, mysterious chakra, resulting in injuries for Namida, Sumire, and Wasabi. The Seventh Hokage Naruto Uzumaki himself rescued them, and Namida was sent to the hospital before going home with her family.

After failing an obstacle course, Namida was disturbed and Shino informed her that she needed to improve her teamwork. Several weeks after the Nue incident, Namida attempted to visit Sumire but was turned away. Rumors were circulating that Sumire was going to transfer away, which worried Namida. However, she was relieved when Sumire eventually returned to the Academy.

School Trip Arc

Namida and her classmates went on a trip to Kirigakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Mist. They were welcomed by their tour guide, Kagura Karatachi. Namida found Kagura attractive right away. As they explored Kirigakure, the girls noticed that the boys were always talking to Kagura and not giving the girls a chance to speak to him. This made Namida upset, but she still tried to enjoy the trip and learn from Kagura.

Graduation Exams Arc

Namida had always dreamed of becoming a skilled shinobi alongside her friend Wasabi. However, family issues put a halt to her aspirations, and she was forced to abandon her chosen path after graduation. But with the help of her fellow classmate Sarada Uchiha and their teacher Shino, Namida was finally able to convince her parents to allow her to pursue her desired career.

During the exams, the students were presented with a subtle offer from Shino to cheat on the written test, which they eagerly accepted, allowing them to pass with ease. However, the true test came during the practical and final exam, where the entire class was brought to a training field and pitted against Shino, Anko Mitarashi, and Konohamaru Sarutobi for a grueling 24 hours.

Although the teachers closely evaluated each student's performance, the true challenge came from the legendary Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage. He explained that the first student who could successfully take the single bell attached to his hip would pass. The test began, and the students quickly found themselves in a fierce battle of wits and strength against their formidable opponent.

Despite their best efforts, various students were subdued and captured by the proctors, leaving only the strongest and most skilled to face off against Kakashi in a final showdown.

After being scolded by Kakashi Hatake, Boruto felt guilty for dragging down his friends' performance with his lazy attitude. He apologized to his friends for "failing" them, but they quickly reassured him that it was because of his actions that they had overcome many of their problems. Inspired by their kind words, Boruto realized the truth behind the teachers' deceptions and came up with a plan to pass the test. His friends backed him up as they executed the plan flawlessly.

Namida caught the attention of Anko, who became frightened of her sonic wave, allowing the team to eliminate the other proctors and save the other students. They then attacked Kakashi while disguised as Boruto, but he easily blocked their assault. It was all part of their plan, however, as they caught Kakashi in a Multiple String Light Formation. Though they managed to pin him down, he quickly repelled them with his Lightning Release.

Despite not obtaining the bell, Kakashi passed all the students because they had succeeded in the true goal of the test; demonstrating loyalty and teamwork. Namida was overjoyed when she found out that she had been placed on Team 15, alongside her friends Sumire and Wasabi, under the leadership of Hanabi Hyuga.

Konoha Shinden: Steam Ninja Scrolls

In the manga, at a certain point in time after the formation of Team 15, the three genin were assigned a mission to search for a missing cat. During the mission, Namida spent a lot of time searching for the cat, which left her feeling exhausted.

Byakuya Gang Arc

As the Byakuya Gang continued to carry out thefts throughout Konohagakure, Team 15, along with other genin teams, was assigned the task of stopping these self-proclaimed noble thieves. However, due to the danger involved, the genin were not permitted to engage the Byakuya Gang without the assistance of a chūnin or higher-ranked shinobi. Despite this restriction, Team 15 eventually came across the Byakuya Gang in the act of stealing from a pawn shop. Recognizing the need for additional help, Namida was dispatched to find Temari.

As the situation escalated, villagers who supported the Byakuya Gang began to take action against companies they believed to be corrupt. Namida and her fellow ninja worked to restore peace in the area and prevent further violence.

Versus Momoshiki Arc

As the Chunin Exams approached, Team 15 received a mission to recapture all the animals that escaped from Fire Park. Wasabi and Namida got into a fight, causing Namida to storm off on her own. During her solo search, Namida stumbled upon the final animal on their list, a mischievous monkey that had stolen the keys to set all the animals free. As Namida tried to capture the cunning creature, a massive white-maned wolf attacked her. Fortunately, Wasabi and Sumire arrived just in time to help take down the formidable beast, putting aside their differences to work as a team.

After the successful mission, the girls reconciled their earlier argument and Sumire finally confessed her past mistakes, admitting that she was responsible for the Nue incident. To her relief, Wasabi and Namida had already known the truth and readily forgave her. Hanabi, who had been watching their teamwork from a distance, appeared to congratulate them on their exceptional performance.

During the first exam of the Chūnin Exams, Namida and her team were faced with a tricky question and were asked to stand next to the answer they believed to be correct. However, it was all a ruse as both answers were wrong and the genin was left falling into a pit. Luckily, Sumire used Nue's power to save them from the fall and the team was able to avoid elimination.

In the second exam, which was a capture-the-flag competition, Namida was captured by Yurui's bubble techniques while trying to retrieve their flag, leading to their defeat. Namida felt responsible for the team's loss but Sumire assured her that they were not ready for such unusual techniques and that it was a learning experience for them all.

Then, Namida chose to support her friends who made it to the final exam and watched alongside her teammates as Boruto emerged victorious. However, their joy was short-lived as they discovered that Boruto had cheated using an advanced ninja tool, the Kote, which was banned from the Chūnin Exams, leading to his disqualification.

As the dust settled and the Ōtsutsuki threat was neutralized, Namida and her teammates watched Boruto's interview at the Lightning Burger, reflecting on their own journey and the lessons learned from the Chūnin Exams.

Mitsuki's Disappearance Arc

Boruto sought out Namida and her teammates to inquire about the whereabouts of Mitsuki, but they were unable to provide any useful information. However, the young genin soon found themselves involved in a greater mission when they overheard the Hokage discussing the perilous situation of Team 7 in Iwagakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Stones. Driven by their desire to aid their friends, Namida, and her teammates asked to accompany the Hokage on the mission. Initially hesitant to put the young genin in danger, Naruto ultimately admired their steadfastness and agreed to let them join.

Upon arriving in Iwagakure, they discovered that the battle had already been won and that Team 7 was safe. Although relieved by the news, they were saddened by the loss of the Third Tsuchikage, who had sacrificed himself in the battle. Despite their desire to attend his funeral, Naruto ordered them to return to Konohagakure.

Later, when Namida's scream technique began hurting her allies and clients, she felt the need to develop a new technique that wouldn't have such a negative impact. She turned to Hanabi for guidance in mastering Water Release. Initially, Namida struggled with the technique due to her limited power, but Hanabi's strict training helped her improve significantly in both water manipulation and chakra control.

Despite her progress, their next mission against water clone-specializing bandits proved challenging, rendering Namida's newfound technique useless. Things took a turn for the worse when the bandit leader stole a sacred document from their clients, leaving Namida feeling hopeless about her strength. But her teammates, Sumire and Wasabi, reminded her of her growth, noting how she had yet to cry as she usually would.

Motivated by her friends' support, Namida focused her chakra control and scream technique, unleashing a powerful concussive blast that knocked out only the bandit leader. While proud of her accomplishment, she realized she needed more training, as she could only use the technique once. She then resorted to her basic technique, knocking out everyone in the process. Despite her limitations, Namida remained determined to continue growing as a ninja.

Jugo Arc

Team 15, along with Team 7, was assigned to investigate the sudden attacks on the village by mutated wildlife. Konohamaru led the team in Hanabi's absence, and an ornithologist named Tosaka joined them to help with the birds. Upon arrival, they were ambushed by strange-looking birds and soon discovered that the people attacked by these creatures became ill and were covered in Cursed Seals. Konohamaru speculated that Orochimaru might be behind this and warned everyone not to engage him alone.

The teams split up to investigate further, and Namida and her teammates helped Konohamaru track down Team 7 after Jūgo had drained his chakra and left him injured. They found Jūgo unconscious with an injection device nearby, and when another bird attacked them, Jūgo woke up and cured the bird of its cursed seal before leaving.

Upon returning to the village, Konohamaru instructed Team 15 to return to Konoha and report the situation, requesting backup. On their way back, they were ambushed by Momo and Sasami, who infected Namida and Wasabi with cursed seals using a device. Nue carried Sumire away to safety, while the researchers from the Land of Rivers took Namida and Wasabi back to the village for treatment.

Namida and Wasabi endured the agonizing process of their bodies adjusting to the cursed seals while Momo and Sasami taunted them about the ease with which they could cure them using a special serum. With the truth about the Land of Rivers researchers exposed, their allies covertly infiltrated the facility and rescued the two girls. Sumire administered the cure, but it took some time to take full effect. Sumire assisted her friends as they struggled to walk, but they were soon confronted by Momo.

Sumire and Nue did their best to defeat Momo, but his cursed seal was too strong for them, even as Namida and Wasabi regained their strength and joined the battle. Recognizing that only Nue's full power could defeat Momo, Namida, and Wasabi offered their chakra to enable Nue to transform into its larger form. The gamble paid off as Sumire and Nue defeated Momo, and Namida and Wasabi praised their friend's success.

At the lake, Karin and Sarada enlisted the help of Team 15 in locating and containing the still-infected birds before they could spread the curse further. The team struggled to find the birds, and Karin suggested killing them to prevent the curse from spreading.

After defeating Tosaka and calming Jūgo's rampage, Suigetsu distributed the serum to cure the cursed seal infection. Sumire shared with Namida and Wasabi that Boruto's belief in becoming who you want to be inspired her to join the Scientific Ninja Weapons Team to find a way to better synergize with Nue. She asked them to keep it a secret, wanting to inform their friends herself.

Later on, after Sumire's transfer was finalized, Team 15 held a farewell party for their former class representative. They met their new team member, Tsubaki Kurogane, a samurai student from the Land of Iron who expressed disapproval towards the peaceful era shinobi, viewing them as lazy and lacking commitment.

One day, while on a mission with Hanabi to locate a wanted criminal, Wasabi and Namida stumbled upon the fugitive. The two engaged him but were quickly overpowered by the criminal and his two allies. Luckily, Tsubaki arrived in time to save them and praised Wasabi's dedication to protecting her friend. After a severe scolding from Hanabi for their recklessness, Wasabi and Namida joined their friends for Sumire's farewell party.

Time-Slip Arc

Namida participated in a field test to evaluate new surveillance equipment that was designed to track their locations. While on the mission, she and several other Konoha-nin spotted Urashiki Ōtsutsuki in the area and pursued him. However, it turned out that Urashiki had deceived them with a genjutsu, allowing him to sneak into the village undetected.

Mujina Bandits Arc

Team 15 was struggling to adapt to their new team setup after Sumire's departure. They were disappointed to learn that their recent performance had declined, making them the weakest genin team. Tsubaki, the newly appointed samurai-in-training, was particularly upset and urged Wasabi and Namida to compete with each other on every mission to determine who was the best for the job.

Unfortunately, this approach proved counterproductive, causing the team to lose sight of their true objectives and fail at high-stakes assignments. As a result, Hanabi, their team leader, decided to suspend Team 15 until they could learn to work together more effectively.

The next day, while seeing off Team 5 on a boar hunt with a merchant, Wasabi and her team discovered that the real merchant was tied up and replaced with a bandit leader. Realizing that their friends were in danger, they quickly sprang into action to help. Tsubaki was amazed at how well-coordinated Team 15 was and realized that the key to victory was teamwork.

Trusting her teammates to hold off the enemies long enough, Wasabi and Namida allowed Tsubaki to prepare her ultimate technique, which quickly defeated most of the foes, leaving only the leader for Wasabi and Namida to defeat. The team's success in this critical situation helped them to understand the importance of working together, and they returned to their training with renewed determination to cooperate effectively.

Kara Actuation Arc

After the brutal defeat of Team 7 by Deepa, a member of Kara, Namida and Wasabi rushed to the hospital to check on Sarada's condition. To their surprise, they found her in high spirits and relaxed, but Iwabee was concerned about her and Boruto. He feared that his friends had lost their will to be shinobi, just as he had seen in Boruto earlier.

When Namida and her friends went to visit Boruto and Sarada, they were stunned to find out that the two had secretly left the hospital. Iwabee immediately thought that they were planning revenge for what happened to Mitsuki. Sakura had a hunch that they might meet with Konohamaru, who was currently on an undercover mission.

As they arrived, the group breathed a sigh of relief when they found out that Boruto and Sarada had abandoned their plans for revenge and instead focused on training to become stronger. Later, after the triumphant victory of Boruto's team over Deepa, Namida was enjoying a friendly game of cards with Inojin when they stumbled upon Denki deep in thought.

Denki was busy setting up an experiment to enhance radio communications, and Namida and her friends offered to help him out. Despite initial failures, they persevered, and Denki remained determined to improve the technology. Namida and the rest of her friends cheered him on, proud of his dedication and hard work.

Ao Arc

Namida paid her respects to the brave souls who lost their lives in the Fourth Shinobi World War during the solemn memorial service. Afterward, she made her way to the Training Hall where a sparring match between Boruto and the Seventh Hokage was about to start.

Namida watched intently as Boruto displayed his newly improved skills, marveling at his growth as a ninja. But what really caught her attention was Naruto's unexplainable ability to absorb enemy techniques, leaving her both bewildered and amazed.

Chunin Re-Examination Arc

Following the devastating attack by Isshiki, Naruto decided to lift the spirits of the village by organizing another Chūnin Exam to promote more chūnin. Namida, along with her team, worked hard to pass the first, written exam, and she even helped Wasabi by sharing answers with her using her Cat Covering technique. The next day, Namida gave her teammates good luck charms, showing her dedication to their success.

However, during the second exam, held in the Forest of Death, Namida made a crucial mistake. She mistook Mirai, who was actually a mock enemy, for an injured ally she was supposed to rescue, leading her to be knocked out by Mirai and ultimately disqualify herself from the exam. Namida was the only one on her team who didn't advance to the final round, but she remained determined to help her teammates succeed.

The following day, Tsubaki received a letter from the Land of Iron, inviting her to return after the exams for a leadership position. While Namida was happy about Tsubaki's success, she and Wasabi were saddened by her impending departure.

Just before the second match, which involved her team-mate Wasabi, Namida and Tsubaki noticed that Wasabi was acting unusually reserved. When they learned that Wasabi was feeling pressure to meet her family's expectations, Namida listened attentively as Wasabi shared her clan's background with her.

Namida felt a sense of joy upon witnessing Wasabi's triumph over Iwabee during the Chūnin Exams. However, she couldn't ignore the fact that Iwabee's defeat was partially due to his inability to continue the fight after inspiring Wasabi. Nonetheless, Namida was proud of her friend for demonstrating resilience and seizing the opportunity to secure her victory.

As the third match, between Sarada and Chocho, approached, Namida and her teammates checked on Sarada, expressing their concern over her having to fight her best friend. Sarada assured them that she was committed to the match.

Before Tsubaki's match against Denki, Namida and Wasabi were in the midst of discussing their mixed emotions about Tsubaki's impending departure after the finals. Nevertheless, they still rooted for her during her match, but Tsubaki ultimately lost to Denki, who used his Lightning Release Suit as a distraction for his attack.

Namida and Wasabi rushed Tsubaki to the infirmary, where she confided in them that she had turned down the leadership position back in her homeland because she felt she had more to learn in Konoha. Overcome with relief and happiness, Namida and Wasabi embraced their friend. Later on, they all celebrated with Team 5 at Lightning Burger, commemorating Wasabi and Denki’s promotions.

In due course, Team 15 received Kawaki as an additional member for a mission, which was a test of his potential as a genin. However, his methods proved to be excessive and traumatic, causing the client to be furious with the team, much to the chagrin of Namida and her teammates. Later, Namida assisted Tsubaki in a mission to deal with a former classmate, Sazanka, who was assisting bandits in attacking merchants.

Kawaki and Himawari Academy Arc

During the Academy's festive event, Namida enjoyed the lively atmosphere with her friends. However, the cheerful ambiance was disrupted when a terrorist threat was made against the festival. Without hesitation, Namida and her fellow former academy students stepped up to assist in resolving the situation. They worked together to identify and remove explosive tags placed around the area, ensuring the safety of everyone at the event.

During her time at the Academy, Namida wears a beige high-necked sweater with long sleeves that reach her fingertips. The sweater is accentuated by orange details around the collar, shoulders, and sleeves. She pairs the sweater with reddish-orange shorts that sit just above a shuriken holster on her right thigh, and a matching belt around her waist. Following her graduation from the Academy, Namida adds an orange forehead protector to her outfit, which she wears around her neck as a sign of her status as a ninja.
