Kid’s Personality

Kid is bold, confident, and fearless; he often runs into danger without thinking about the repercussions. He gives the impression of being a savage, merciless pirate known for killing many innocent civilians. He is quick to use violence whenever he feels mocked or insulted, even if it's just with a glance. He views the decision to not kill someone in his local area right away as an act of appreciation.

He also exhibits cruelty even when not provoked, as evidenced by crucifying another defeated pirate crew because he thought they were too weak to travel freely in the New World. Kid is quite temperamental and has little patience for anyone in his way. Still, he is occasionally able to control his rage.

Eustass Kid before timeskip.

Kid doesn't give up easily and might battle a formidable foe until the very end. He appears to believe that everyone who does not have the willpower to accomplish the seemingly impossible is doomed to death in the New World. Kid's lack of fear is also one of his worst weaknesses. Since arriving in the New World, he has engaged in numerous brawls with the Four Emperors, disregarding their fame, only to be defeated by either their aides or the Emperor himself.

Kid is very proud of his reputation and strives to become the top pirate in the world, which he intends to do by defeating the Four Emperors, even if it means risking his life to do so. Despite his curiosity about their existence, Kid is not interested in using WMDs or other tools that could assist him in accomplishing those objectives; instead, he would rather face them head-on with his own strength.

He believes that teaming up with others will drive them to meddle in his battle, so he avoids disclosing his targets to them. He also dislikes being the target of false rumors that show him negatively. He is keen to discredit them if he overhears someone discussing him. Kid is notorious for being irrationally stubborn and reluctant to let up no matter how challenging the task is because of his pride.

Kid is pretty skeptical of the World Government. He notes that, in contrast to them, pirates are basically humanitarian in character and honest about their flaws, compared to the Nobles who justify their abuses of power by ancestry, showing that he is aware of how the World Nobles behave.

Kid shares Luffy's desire to find the One Piece and climb to the position of Pirate King. He appears to have a great deal of respect for him due to this and Luffy's carelessness, even though he occasionally struggles to accept it. While both captains frequently run into the same issues and challenges, Kid deals with them gruesomely by killing everyone who has ever attempted to mock his ambition.

Kid, like Luffy, has a deep affection for his crewmates as another resemblance. If his subordinates are being mocked or put in danger, Kid will rashly defend or save them. Kid, unlike Luffy, is generally unpleasant and distrustful of people, rarely letting his guard down and warning his subordinates to do the same. Kid is also a glutton who doesn't mind working hard as long as he has access to plenty of food.

Kid’s Appearance

Kid is a tall, chiseled man with a light complexion and fiery red hair. His nose is distinctive, with little protrusions on both sides and a sharp point. He lacks eyebrows and has reddish-purple lips, fingernails, and red/orange eyes.

He wears flashy clothing that includes motorcycle boots, a giant circular buckle with a four-leaf clover pattern in the middle, a green belt and black and yellow lizard-print trousers with red fringe. A dagger with a Japanese-style hilt and what looks to be a flintlock gun are kept in a short bandolier on his waist, fastened with tiny bolts and crossed diagonally over his right shoulder. Additionally, he wears gold bracelets on both wrists.

On his forehead, he sports a pair of square-shaped, studded goggles. His bare, muscular body is covered by a thick captain's coat made of fur. The maroon-lined shoulders of the dark brown coat are embellished with spikes, and the coat's collar is vast and flared. He usually wears this coat with his left arm tucked under it and his right arm in its sleeve.

Eustass Kid after timeskip.

He is depicted with significantly longer hair pushed back after the time skip. In addition, he has two scars: one larger one that runs across his left eye and down his neck from the left side of his forehead. His lower right arm likewise has two parallel scars.

Before being imprisoned by the Beasts Pirates, he replaced his left arm with a mechanical one that is somehow connected to his nervous system, as evidenced by several metallic wires directly buried beneath his skin. He lost his left arm to just above the elbow during the two-year timeskip during a battle against the Red Hair Pirates.

His outfit now consists of his distinctive spotted pants, an opened black vest, and a belted military kilt. Additionally, he wears a long, dark red coat over his shoulders. In addition to having scars on his left pectoral, right forearm, and left side of his belly, he also seems to have developed more muscle. He no longer wears useless jewelry.

Kid’s Abilities

Eustass Kid is the Kid Pirates' captain and has total control over the crew. He's a strong pirate and one of the Worst Generation. He held the greatest bounty of the Eleven Supernova before the time skip, totaling 315,000,000 Berries, for causing significant mayhem and civilian casualties along their path through the Grand Line and towards the New World. Along with Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar Law, he quickly destroyed a huge squad of Marines in the Human Auctioning House. Later, he and his crew got away from Admiral Kizaru and a Pacifista.

Kid also has a lot of connections because he is aware of the underworld and was aware of Caesar Clown's experiments. He also possesses a strong will, as evidenced by the fact that he was untouched by a burst of Rayleigh's Haoshoku Haki. Kid is resistant to Soru Soru no Mi's "Soul Pocus" when he has no fear of Big Mom, much like Jinbe and Law are.

Kid has significantly increased in strength following the time skip. He demonstrated his power during the Raid on Onigashima, defeating Kaidou and Big Mom, two Emperors with nearly impenetrable defenses, and inflicting harm on both. With the aid of Law, he defeated an overpowered Big Mom.

Kid is now one of the world's most dangerous pirates after defeating the former Emperor Big Mom and earning a bounty of 3,000,000,000 Berries. His new bounty matches the current Emperor and rival, Monkey D Luffy. He was easily defeated by Shanks alone because he misjudged his strength compared to the Emperor. This miscalculation might have cost him and his crew their lives. Despite his growth in strength, he is still no match for an Emperor head-on.

Physical Abilities

Kid is extremely resilient and physically strong. He was able to match Luffy's speed in transporting and delivering massive stone blocks bigger than him even while being restrained by Seastone, which drains the energy of Devil Fruit users. He could do this with just one arm. He was able to withstand the torment he experienced while being held captive by the Beasts Pirates.

More impressively, Kid possesses sufficient strength to engage in combat with two of the Four Emperors on the roof of Onigashima, repel numerous attacks from each Emperor, and even inflict harm on both of them despite their reputations for having nearly indestructible bodies.

Kid has a remarkable rate of recuperation. Like Luffy, Kid's phenomenal metabolism allows him to consume a lot of food—to the point where he gets big and chubby—and still burns off all the calories to restore his energy. Kid is a master of the art of hand-to-hand combat. He and Luffy were able to beat a Shinuchi of the Beast Pirates, although being restrained by Seastone cuffs and having only one arm. While still restrained in Seastone shackles, Kid also broke out of the Udon Prisoner Mine.

Devil Fruit

Kid consumed the Jiki Jiki no Mi, a type of Paramecia Devil Fruit that allows him to control magnetic forces. He can direct magnetic fields that enable him to arrange metal things into different configurations and structures and attract and/or repel metal objects as he pleases.

Kid can mold the metal objects attached to his body into several shapes, but his preferred method is to create a massive metal arm that he can use to deliver devastating attacks. He was also seen using his magnetism to make a crude replacement left arm after his cybernetic left arm had been taken away by the Beasts Pirates and covering his actual arms with metal.

Kid's Devil Fruit powers.

He can either deflect metal weapons like cannonballs and bullets or lure his enemies' blades and guns towards himself to use as building blocks for his own attacks, making him an extremely deadly opponent against fighters who wield metal weapons.

He has achieved Devil Fruit Awakening, which allows him to grant magnetism to objects other than his own body. He acknowledges that he is still mastering his newly awakened abilities, which severely drains his energy.

Haki

Kid is one of the few people who can use all three varieties of Haki.

  • Kaidou claims that Kid is capable of using Haoshoku Haki. Kid has been spotted using it in the Anime, while he hasn't yet shown it off in the manga.

  • In the anime, Kid punched Poker to display his Busoshoku Haki.

  • He is also a very adept user of Kenbunshoku Haki, as he demonstrated during the raid on Onigashima, where he detected Luffy's defeat by Kaidou and Luffy's Devil Fruit awakening.

Weapons

Kid travels with a dagger and a flintlock rifle. His left arm was swapped out for a mechanical one at some point during the time skip, turning him into a cyborg.

Kid’s Relationships

Crew

Kid appears to get along well with the members of his crew who have been revealed so far. In every situation, he has their best interests at heart. His concern for and loyalty to his crew mates have been repeatedly demonstrated. He is incredibly close to Killer, the first mate.

Kid and Killer enjoy a strong friendship dating back to their youth because they grew up together. Killer has repeatedly shown his intense loyalty to Kid; when Kid's life was in danger, Killer ate a faulty SMILE fruit and joined Kurozumi Orochi's army, demonstrating his fierce commitment to Kid. Killer generally serves as his captain's calming influence, ensuring Kid maintains his concentration and does not drift off course due to impatience. Whenever Kid shows interest in a certain subject, Killer gives him vital information.

Rivals

Monkey D. Luffy

Kid once predicted that he and Luffy would fight one another in the New World as they compete to become the next Pirate King. Kid respects Luffy, and Luffy gained Kid's interest through his actions against the World Government before their first meeting.

Luffy calls Kid "Jaggy," while Kid labels Luffy a "stupid monkey."

Kid and Luffy started competing with one another after reuniting in a Wano Country prison. Deputy warden Dobon confronted them and attempted to punish them for stealing most of the prison's supplies. Still, despite their rivalry, they worked together to beat him.

Kid frequently denies seeing Luffy as an ally, yet he respects the Straw Hat captain's grit. When Kaidou attacked Kid and the rest of the alliance and Luffy's death was claimed a second time, Kid did seem to lose hope for a while, but he was determined to fight until the bitter end.

Trafalgar D. Water Law

Law, Kid and Luffy at Sabaody Archipelago.

Kid first met Law in the Sabaody Archipelago where the two of them and Luffy fought off Marines. At the time, Kid’s bounty was highest among the 11 supernovas. The fact that Kid still seemed interested in Law in the New World and was happy to see that the surgeon was working on something rather than acting like a "Government Dog" further proves this. Kid also seemed particularly interested in the alliance between Luffy and Law. They worked together once more during the battle with Kaidou and Big Mom during the Wano Country Arc, even forging a temporary alliance to defeat Big Mom.

Enemies

World Government

Kid is the Marines' number one foe. Before the time skip, his harsh treatment of innocent bystanders earned him a big bounty, enough to topple Luffy, who had already destroyed important World Government assets. He battled numerous marine troops at the Sabaody Archipelago with Trafalgar Law, Monkey D. Luffy, and others; many infantrymen there appreciated their combined efforts.

Kid also thinks poorly of the World Nobles and their deeds, calling it a "farce" that they could own anybody they pleased due to their untouchable status. He reportedly turned to piracy to rebel against the people he deemed to be "scum" who controlled the planet.

Four Emperors

Shanks: Although there hasn't been any evidence of direct communication between the two, Kid joined forces with fellow captains Basil Hawkins and Scratchmen Apoo to defeat Red-Haired Shanks, the Emperor. Kid also acknowledged that he had lost an arm during a battle with the Red Hair Pirates, but he did not specify that Shanks was responsible. Kid attempts to use his railgun to wipe out Shanks' subordinate crew when he is forced to fight them again. Still, Shanks immediately defeats him since he anticipated how disastrous Kid's attack would be.

Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom): Kid invaded Totto Land during the time skip, hurt one of Big Mom's Sweet Commanders, and stole a poneglyph rubbing from the Emperor. Kid and Big Mom faced off once again at Onigashima, where Kid was a squad member that challenged Kaidou and Big Mom atop the Skull Dome. Until Kid and Law managed to seriously hurt Big Mom, she didn't seem to take Kid seriously. After Kid and Law successfully launched her into a crater, Big Mom vowed revenge, knowing she would survive.

Kaidou: When Kaidou dropped from the sky and came to rest at the Kid Pirates' hideout, Kid came face to face with the veteran pirate. He resisted Kaidou's command and attempted to fight him but was ultimately defeated and taken prisoner. Kid was then imprisoned by Kaidou to crush his spirit and make him a Beasts soldier. Kid declined Luffy's offer of an alliance after witnessing what happened to Killer and decided to locate the rest of his crew first. He reunited with his crew and fought alongside Luffy and Law to defeat Kaidou.

Buggy: Kid seems to not regard Buggy as an Emperor, meaning he has little regard for the clown pirate. Kid has even acknowledged that Buggy holding the title of Emperor was more difficult for him to live with than Luffy holding the same position. Still, he did appear amused by the concept of the Cross Guild and its capacity to place bounties on the Marines.

Scratchmen Apoo

Kid confronting Apoo for deceiving him.

Kid and Apoo appeared to have an alliance in the beginning. As a result of Apoo's revelation that he was a spy for the Beasts Pirates after joining Kaidou beforehand and informing the Emperor of the location of their Pirate Alliance, Kid began to distrust all pirates outside his own crew. Kid and Apoo seem to have resumed tolerating each other after the raid on Onigashima, with Kid continuing to dislike Apoo's presence but not to the point of outright resistance.

Basil Hawkins

Along with Apoo, Hawkins was a second captain from the Worst Generation, with whom Kid forged an alliance. Hawkins chose to join the Beasts Pirates out of necessity after Kaidou crashed into Kid's hideout. He had seen Kid and Killer fight Kaidou until the last and knew Kid would not submit to anyone.

Hawkins confronted both Kid and Killer later at Onigashima. Kid thought Hawkins was a traitor, but the latter defended himself by claiming that Apoo had also betrayed him and that he had no other option at the time. Ultimately, Killer engaged Hawkins alone and triumphed in Kid's defense.
